Chapter 46: Defeat

"Please... Sin. Don’t make this harder than it has to be." Kael’s expression was as nonchalant as could be.

He was clearly trying to mask all of his emotions with a front. But all that this told Sin was that Kael was still struggling internally. Still, that didn’t matter anymore.

He had made his choice. He was now Sin’s mortal enemy, since he decided to stand in Sin’s way.

"What do you expect me to do? Let you kill me? What sort of pathetic loser do you think I am?" Sin slammed his fist against his palm so loudly that it echoed through the entire chamber and sent a small gust of wind outwards.

Kael furrowed his eyebrows as Sin continued speaking: "As long as I can move... I will make sure I won’t lose." He said again, reaffirming this to himself and everyone else on the battlefield.

Kael couldn’t help but increase his respect and admiration for Sin with every second that passed.

’This young man... the passion he has to live like a great human is something worth being envious of. It’s unfortunate that I have to take his life today...’ Kael mused, understanding that he would definitely have a degree of regret for his actions today.

Sin exhaled. Internally, his thoughts were different, ’Even if I lose this battle, I have to make sure I don’t die. I thought those ogres would be enough, but Roby was stronger than I expected. Fu’res is still here, but without The’res to be his shield, he won’t be able to do much. Tsk.’

Despite trying to think of other options, Sin came to the conclusion that it was either him or Kael here.

With his mind firm and filled with determination, he sprinted forward. Kael followed suit out of respect--the two clashing in the center was a fierce wave of wind.

Fu’res unleashed several arrows. Kael and Sin began to exchange blows--both of them dodging each other’s attacks several times.

Sin used punches and kicks, while Kael swung his sword with extremely delicate technique.

Fu’res’ arrows reached Kael, but he managed to dodge them all with ease while still fighting Sin.

"W-what?" Fu’res exclaimed, "That should be impossi--" At that moment, a fireball slammed into his back and exploded. It sent him flying forward--instantly knocking him out.

With a cavity the size of a basketball in his back, he was lying flat on his stomach. Scarlet stood above him, spitting down with contempt before kicking him into the lake.

He slowly sunk--the water drake capturing his body as it got about 20 feet below the surface of the water.

Scarlet looked at Kael and Sin, but her attention was captured by Ince’s voice: "Scarlet! Come and help me... leave Kael to that battle. He won’t lose."

Scarlet turned and followed Ince’s directions, her face covered with tears and snot.

Sin and Kael continued moving across the cavern, Sin pushing Kael back with a series of roundhouse kicks and hand-stand kicks.

Kael deflected and dodged every attack though, as if Sin’s immense natural speed and strength were merely childs play.

"Thats enough..." Kael said, his eyelids low. With a swift motion of his arm, he swung his sword at Sin’s leg faster than any other attack he had performed up until now.

Sin didn’t even see the attack--only a blur. Before he knew it, he felt a sharp, burning sting on his leg. Looking down, he noticed his left foot had been sliced clean off.

He landed on the ground with one foot and one stump--exclaiming in excruciating pain: "ARGH!"

He gripped his knee, lifting his leg up slightly.

"You were a warrior, Sin." Kael blitzed forward--his entire body turning into a blur as his sword traveled straight at Sin’s chest like a torpedo.

Sin grunted agressively, "Fuck you." His eyes were wide with fury.

As Kael’s blurry figure appeared in front of his eyes, Sin reached forward and intuitively grabbed the swordsman’s blade.

Kael’s sword stabbed an inch into Sin’s chest--but was forcibly stopped by Sin’s hand.

Sin’s palm began to drip with blood, but he wasn’t dead yet.

Kael’s eyes widened. ’He stopped my sword... with what strength? How can this be possible?’ Kael pushed forward, his sword slicing through Sin’s palm and digging into the young man’s chest.

Sin stepped down with his stump of a foot, pushing with both legs and stopping Kael’s blade again.

"Kael..." Sin said, "Throw me in the lake." He said in a low tone, looking into Kael’s eyes as if he were giving a command.

Kael paused, "Your chances of dying are even more likely."

Sin didn’t say anything.

Kael didn’t wait, grabbing Sin’s hand and swinging him into the air. In a mere second, he was over the lake.

As he fell, Scarlet unleashed several fireballs from her position. They all exploded on Sin, burning his skin so bad that he was nearly unrecognizable afterwards.

His burnt body dropped into the lake like a pebble in an ocean--slowly sinking into the depths.

Kael turned and faced Ince, "Ince... what about Agniel?"

As Agniel heard this, his entire body froze with chills. "P-plea--" He attempted to bargain, but he was cut off.

"Make him sign the contract. Without a scapegoat its too much of a risk right now." Ince replied, "Take his things first though... his body would have sold for much more but his belongings will do for now."

Kael nodded, walking over to Agneil. He made him sign a special scroll. He explained it to be a truth-forgetting scroll.

Once signed, someone would forget certain things. In this contract, Kael wrote down that Agneil would forget everything that happened after entering the dungeon.

Agneil didn’t say anything, since he didn’t have much of a choice. After he was stripped naked and given a dirty robe to wear, he signed the contract. Instantly, he passed out.

Kael threw the fatty’s body over his shoulder--slicing the necks of the two guards. "Alright... let’s find our way out of here."

After Kael said this, him, Scarlet, and Ince eventually discovered a path that led out of the boss room.

It was the same way that Sin had entered. After some jerry-rigging--they found a way to escape.

In the end, Sin was swallowed whole by the water drake, beginning to get digested by the beast’s stomach...
