Chapter 45: Massacre

Sin fell to the floor, bouncing like a ragdoll. His eyes were wide, as though in shock.

’Disease? I can feel it... it’s really a plague that she just gave me. But how? I thought she was a healer... how could she give me a blessing that injures me?’

Scarlet attempted to hurl another fireball towards Sin, but The’res quickly intercepted the attack with his shield.

Kyres rushed forward, swinging at Scarlet with his axe in a series of slashes.

Scarlet unleashed multiple small fireballs in an attempt to block Kyres’ attacks, but he moved forward like a blitzkrieg--unable to be stopped.

Roby appeared, clashing weapons with Kyres and forcing the ogre’s onslaught to come to a screeching halt.

"SIN!" Kyres roared at that moment, "Us three will deal with these two. Your goal is simple!"

Sin looked up, his pale face making eye contact with the ogre. Sin nodded, slowly standing back up.

Ince scoffed, walking forward with a haughty confidence, "The weakest going after the strongest huh? Not a very smart plan. But then again, I wouldn’t expect much more from stupid ogres."

Sin grunted, a warm feeling developing within him. Soon, his skin began to regain its original lively color.

His eyebags reduced, his eyelids widening.

Ince furrowed her eyebrows, "Oh? How did you..."

"Don’t think you’re the only one with tricks up their sleeves." Sin replied, lunging into a sprint with the large greatsword in his right hand.

It dragged against the ground with a loud screech as Sin got closer.

"Wailing Spirit!" Ince yelled, waving her wand forward, "Give me your death!"

A blast of dark energy exploded out of Ince’s wand. It moved at immense speeds, appearing in front of Sin’s face almost as soon as it was casted.

Sin was now more focused, instantly side-stepping the attack before continuing to move forward.

He was locked in, a violent aggression obliterating all of the fogginess in his mind and giving him a sharp and murderous clarity.

He noticed Ince’s eyes wince slightly as she used that skill, noting this.

’Looks like it also affects her to use these offensive moves.’

Sin arrived 10 feet away from Ince before she knew it, swinging his sword at her neck.

’He’s fast!’ Ince mused, swinging her wand forward. ’But he is only a normal human. Even with superior genetic strength, it cannot surpass years of Spirit Energy training.’

Sin’s greatsword clashed against Ince’s wand--the two beginning to struggle for power immediately.

"I don’t want to kill my scapegoat... but if need be, I won’t hesitate to do anything." Ince exclaimed, pushing Sin back slightly.

Sin’s expression shadowed, "I should have never trusted you... but I won’t make a foolish mistake like this ever again." With a loud grunt and a push, he suddenly thrust Ince’s hand back.

"Hrah!" Sin swung for Ince’s torso.

Ince’s eyes widened, worry entering her mind for the first time in this battle.

"Wailing Spirit... give me your protection!" Ince closed her eyes, a barrier appearing all around her body. It was made out of multiple magic circles with moving incantations.

*SEEEW*

An arrow flew from afar, tearing straight through Ince’s protection and dissipating it into the air.

Sin’s sword’s momentum didn’t stop--making contact with Ince’s clothes.

Ince gasped sharply, "N-NO!"

At the moment Fur’es arrow left his bow, Roby, Scarlet, and the other ogres had darted their eyes over at Ince.

They all stared as time seemed to slow and Sin’s sword began to dig deeper into Ince’s body.

However, in the midst of this battleground--a blurry blue figure blitzed through the scene and arrived in between Ince and Sin.

*CLANG*

Sin felt an immense force suddenly push the tip of the sword away--his grip loosening and the sword flying through the air before falling into the water.

When Sin’s vision finished surveying what was now in front of him, he noticed Kael standing between him and Ince.

Kael was staring at the ground, slight sparks of blue electricity traveling around his hands and sword.

"I’m sorry... Sin. But I owe Ince more than my life." Kael said, seemingly disappointed in even himself.

Sin didn’t speak, his face only showing contempt.

"My morals... are worth less than my life." Kael tightened his jaw.

Ince panted, her head slowly turning toward Kael, "G-good... haha... good! Thank you, Kael! I knew you were on our side the entire time!"

At that moment, Kael finally looked up from the ground and faced Ince. His expression was one of pure seething hatred.

It was enough to even send chills down Ince’s back.

"I owe you nothing." Kael said in a harsh tone, "You aren’t the person I once knew. But... you gave me this life when we first met. For that, I will protect your life as well, for the person you once were."

Sin finally spoke in a low tone: "What a damn foolish mindset." He didn’t say anything more.

Kael didn’t reply, picking Ince up and blitzing over to the opposite end of the chamber.

He placed her on the floor, as she was clearly unable to continue fighting. She had quite a deep laceration on her torso, so she was likely going to be out for the duration of the fight.

Roby grunted, swinging his axe into The’res’ shield again. The two had been fighting for a while now, and The’res was nearly pushed to his limit by now.

The large undead ogre fell backwards and into the lake.

As soon as he fell into the water--the blood on his body from the nonstop fighting spread through the water.

Just then, a shadowy figure emerged from the depths--jumping out of the water as it swallowed The’res whole.

It was a majestic sight--a massive blue water drake revealed its entire body. Glistening with the reflection of crystals all against its beautiful and clean scales, it was like some sort of mythical creature.

It plunged back into the lake, everyone’s attention returning to their fights.

Roby grinned, but before he could move again he felt the head of an axe gorge into his back.

Ky’res’ axe tore through Roby’s ribs and sunk deep into his lungs. Instantly, the human lost consciousness.

Ky’res let go of his axe, allowing Roby to fall into the water the same as The’res.

Scarlet screamed at the top of her lungs, her eyes bloodshot, "DIEE!" She unleashed several fireballs toward Ky’res.

With his axe no longer in his hands, Ky’res attempted to block the fireballs but was unable to stand firm for long. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Soon enough, his forearms were burned to crisps and he fell to his knees.

Kael turned, walking toward Sin again, "It’s time to end this." He said in a low tone.

Sin exhaled, pushing his fist into his palm, "I won’t lose."
