I Evolve By Collecting Infinite Spirits-Chapter 44: Entrance
Agneil’s eyes widened, his face contorting with rage and confusion, "What did you just call me?" he said in a low, enraged tone.
"You have been our sacrificial lamb from the very start." Ince grinned.
Agneil’s face suddenly turned pale as a thick and fearsome bloodlust blasted out of Ince and assaulted his brain and body.
He couldn’t stop shaking, feeling like he was in a cold shower all of a sudden.
"G-guards..." Agneil muttered in a half whisper, barely able to get his words out.
The guards, however, didn’t make a move.
Agneil glanced over and noticed that even his guards were shaking uncontrollably.
’No...’ Agneil foresaw the worst possibility now, ’No... no... this can’t be.’
He turned toward Ince, "Y-you are making a mistake. Do you not know who I am? I am--"
"That’s why we chose you, fatty." Ince snickered.
"No! I won’t allow this! What do you think my family will make of this!? That you all went in as my guards and only you all survived!? Who do you think they will believe! They will think you killed me, and you will receive no less than executive justice!"
Scarlet burst out into a laugh in the back.
Roby shook his head, resting atop a throne of skulls.
Ince looked at both of her subordinates with a smile before staring back at Agneil...
"Why don’t you use your brain... you lard." Ince said in a harsh tone.
Agneil didn’t say anything, perplexed.
Ince continued, "Oh lord... LORD! We tried our best!" Ince began to tear up all of a sudden, "We tried... but that damn rogue... that new Hunter we brought with us... he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He was planning to go after young master Agneil the entire time! We tried to stop him, and we eventually even took his life... but not before he took Agneil’s..."
Ince was fully crying at this point, her acting performance having given goosebumps to Agneil and his soldiers.
Then, Ince smiled, revealing her true self again.
Agneil’s lip quivered to speak, but he couldn’t manage to utter a word.
His life was slipping out of his fingertips, and he couldn’t do anything about it. Completely helpless.
Ince, Scarlet, and Roby grinned--while Kael faced the ground.
’So they planned it from the start huh...’ Agneil mused, betrayal, confusion, anger, and despair quickly overpowering his emotions.
Just then, a sharp noise whistled across the chamber.
Everyone looked towards the ceiling--where the noise was coming from.
Sin flew through the reflective surface on the wall, plunging into the lake like a pebble into the ocean.
Everyone froze.
Kael looked up slowly, his eyes as wide as planets in shock.
Ince shook her head in disbelief, ’Are the gods finally on my side? It feels as though everything is working out perfectly!’
But then, another figure dropped down from the reflective surfaced ceiling--a massive ogre wielding an axe...
After he fell into the water, so did another massive ogre wielding a bow, and finally, one that was holding a shield.
After a few seconds of silence, all three ogres leaped out of the water--Sin standing on the shoulder of the axe-handed ogre.
"It’s time... to fucking butcher you all." Sin said with a large grin on his face.
The three ogres below him let out a primal roar. A disastrous mix of killing intent instantly flooded the entire final room--making everyone freeze in place.
The roar continued for 10 entire seconds--until everyone had stopped paying attention to their own issues--and were all staring at Sin and the ogres with wide eyes of fear and confusion.
As soon as Sin jumped off of the axe-wielding ogre’s shoulder and onto the ground, the ogres stopped their screaming.
He glanced back, "Give me a second." Sin said to the ogre behind him--the ogre nodding back at him with furrowed brows.
Sin turned, facing Ince.
At this moment, Roby and Scarlet rushed to be by Ince’s side.
"What is this..." Ince said, her brows furrowing as she stared at the large ogres.
Sin replied, "Shut the hell up... you stupid bitch." He wasn’t playing around, turning to face the only warrior with his head still facing the ground.
"Kael!" Sin roared, "Make your decision now."
Kael suddenly looked up at Sin with a confused face, "W-what?"
Sin exhaled, "I didn’t see you side with the other members of Ace. And I won’t kill you without knowing where you stand. So tell me... are you going to be against me?"
Sin had trust in all of Ace before, but with his recent bond with Kael--Sin saw him as more trustworthy than the others.
He actually proved to have a moral basis on which he made his choices. So, Sin was going to let him choose now what side he was going to fight on.
Everyone stayed silent.
’So he’s saying... he’s going to kill me if I decide to side with Ace?’ Kael thought to himself, shocked.
He then responded: "I..." He turned, walking away before sitting against a wall.
He closed his eyes, "I will not make a decision right now."
Sin turned, "Fine..."
Ince gripped her wand, a sudden surge of anger rising within her, "It doesn’t matter. You don’t matter, Sin."
Sin turned to face Ince as she said this.
Agneil raised a brow, ’Sin? That name... I feel like I’ve heard it before. Is this someone I know?’
Sin paused, staring at Ince for a moment, "The’res." He said as the shield-holding ogre stepped forward.
"Ky’res." The axe-handling ogre stepped forward, "Fu’res," The archer ogre pulled the string on its bow.
"KILL EVERY ENEMY HERE! Show no mercy! These are the ones standing between you all and your salvation!" Sin’s voice was fierce, like a general in a war. He spoke with conviction--his voice echoing across all the chamber walls.
With war-cries of their own, the ogres lunged into a full-blown offensive--no warnings.
Roby rushed forward, swinging his axe several times before gripping its hilt tightly with both hands and slashing at Ky’res’ torso. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Ky’res gripped his axe tightly, swinging it with only one arm and clashing with Roby.
*SEEEW*
*SEEW*
*SEEEEW*
Three arrows cut through the air with a sharp bite--digging into Roby’s thighs and shoulder.
Roby looked back behind Ky’res’ shoulder, seeing Fu’res loading up another series of arrows.
"Argh!" Roby pushed forward, even pushing Ky’res back.
"Humph!" The’res grunted, tackling Roby with his shield from the side like a battering ram and pushing him onto the ground.
Ky’res swung his axe down straight at Roby’s skull.
Roby looked up, the ogre’s axe mere inches from his face.
’These motherfuckers... their coordination is even better than ours right now!’ Roby attempted to move, but he was unable to do so fast enough.
Right as the axe made contact with the hairs on his face, another voice echoed from afar.
"Burn my enemies, Fire Bird!" A blast of ember exploded from Scarlet’s staff, clashing straight into Ky’res’ axe.
Ky’res’ shoulder was pushed back behind him, his weapon following the same route as it swung backwards. Roby barely rolled away to freedom.
Roby wiped the blood off of his face, his cheek nicked slightly.
Scarlet was panting, seeing Roby’s life flash before her eyes.
And finally, Ince was still frozen in contemplation.
Sin addressed Ince directly, "You won’t leave here alive. I promise it."
"Enough of your empty promises... kid." Ince said in a low tone, "You think that we became the strongest Hunter Group in Solstar for nothing? These ogres are strong, but they are Undead--not Elders."
She paused, speaking through a louder tone now: "You may have thought you had cornered us... but your little experience and arrogance has blinded you. You are trapped in here with us now, you fool."
Ince forcefully waved her wand across the air: "Wailing Spirit! Give me your disease!"
A flash of dark energy ripped through the air--slamming into Sin and crashing him into the ceiling.
Sin coughed out blood--his eyes quickly getting dark eye-bags and his skin turning into a malnourished pale color.
