I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 8: Claws and Daggers
Chapter 8 - Claws and Daggers
The jaguar beast sensed Rex as he ran, its head snapping toward him. The overwhelming pressure hit him like a physical force, choking the air from his lungs. His legs locked, his body refusing to move as the predator's gaze pinned him in place.
His breath hitched. His mind screamed at him to run, but his body refused to obey.
Was it fear?
Or had he simply forgotten how to move under the sheer weight of the jaguar's presence?
He had to acknowledge one brutal truth—he was prey.
The beast's fiery gaze was too overwhelming for him to do anything—much less move.
A primal instinct, buried deep within him, took over. His hands lifted on their own, palms open, a silent gesture of surrender to show that he was hiding nothing.
The jaguar's gaze narrowed onto him, its burning eyes dissecting every inch of his trembling form.
The moment realization struck him—about what he had just done.
Damn it! His face tightened, blood running cold.
The jaguar beast lifted its coal-red brow.
Fortunately, upon sensing the young beast's presence emanating from the lightning bird, it swiftly dismissed him and resumed its chase.
The jaguar couldn't afford to slow down!
Despite its superior raw strength, the jaguar was no match for the lightning bird in terms of speed.
As the jaguar turned its head, dismissing him entirely.
Rex dropped to his knees, gasping for air.
He had unknowingly held his breath. After a few ragged gasps, he steadied his nerves.
"Huff... huff..." Filling his lungs with air, he pushed himself up, using his knees for support.
This place is no good.
Without wasting another second, he took off toward his destination.
After running for a few minutes, he finally left the immediate vicinity of the battlefield.
The inevitable happened! The mother beast did her job faithfully. Now, it was his turn.
unwillingly, Rex agreed. but nothing happened.
shaking his head he moved with a look of tenacity on his face.
Even so, luck was still not on his side. He had obtained a two-star beast—with a good bloodline at that—but danger still lurked. This forest was brimming with who knew what.
And to add to his anxiety, the distance from the cave to the panda's den wasn't short.
Now that I think about it, no beast chased me when I was after that damned monkey. If I move cautiously, it should be manageable from here, Rex concluded.
Yet, after minutes of running, there they were...
"Huff... huff..."
Rex ran, breathing heavily. What... shitty luck. Sweat seeped from his body as he cursed his misfortune.
He turned his head for a brief second—three wolves were chasing him.
One was a ranked 1-star beast, while the other two were mortals—just like him.
He refocused on running, his mind racing. I thought ranked beasts were faster. That wolf? It could easily catch—
Out of nowhere, the ranked wolf lunged at him, closing the distance in an instant—as he ran at his full speed.
Everything happened too quickly. But if one were to describe it...
At that moment, as the beast pounced, the wolf swung its claws toward Rex's face. Instinct took over—he raised his arms like a boxer shielding against a blow, his eyes shutting reflexively.
The strike landed cleanly on his arm, leaving a jagged trail of bloodied claw marks.
They collided mid-air and crashed to the ground.
Rex rolled twice from the sheer momentum but swiftly regained his footing, using the same force he pushed himself up.
The beast skidded across the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. Its blue eyes locked onto its prey, gleaming with cold calculation as it circled him...
Yet—it did nothing to him.
His pulse pounded in his ears as he quickly assessed his predicament—I can't kill that ranked beast on my own, and I can't outrun it either.
There was no way a Mortal could kill a Ranked beast—they existed in entirely different realms of power.
I can't even bring out the young beast. The fiery jaguar might sense it.
Rex's fists clenched involuntarily as his gaze locked onto the wolf's hungry canines, protruding menacingly from its maw. Its fur—a dark gray interwoven with streaks of blue. Standing just above his head, its body was well-built, refined, and primed for the kill.
This is dangerous.
Rex swallowed hard, his muscles tensing instinctively. The wolf's piercing blue eyes bore into him, calculating, waiting.
Then, the two wolves closed in, positioning themselves on either side of Rex, cutting off his escape.
Rex gritted his teeth and drew his dagger, his grip tightening around the hilt.
He stole another glance at the three wolves, quickly checking their status.
One was larger—the one that had just attacked him—while the other two were smaller and younger. Yet, they bore a striking resemblance to the ranked beast.
The only notable difference was their fur; one had dark-gray fur, while the other was light-gray. Their heads barely reached his shoulders.

When he attempted to tame all three beasts, hoping his system would aid him, he received a cold, monotonous response...
Half-expecting the response he Furrowed his brow, and concluded, The weakest ones are always the easiest to tame.
Rex ordered again, System, tame the mortal beast.
His eyes were still focused on the ranked beast. His hands still gripping the dagger, he stood on guard, poised in a fighting stance.

He had done all he could—now, all that remained was to fight with everything he had left.
If push comes to shove, I'll bring out the lightning beast, he mused with conviction.
But that would be his last resort—if the jaguar got involved, everything would spiral into chaos.
As his mind raced—
The larger wolf...
Backed away!—but not before nuzzling the two smaller ones.
"Huh?" Rex blinked rapidly, processing the moment.
The two young beasts nuzzled her back.
GROWL!

GRRRR!
They growled with haughtiness, pressing their claws into the ground. Both closed in at a deliberate pace, their prideful bluish eyes locked onto him.
