I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 12: Arcane
Chapter 12 - Arcane
Rex inhaled deeply, closing his eyes as he stood at the edge of the forest. He stretched his arms wide, letting the cold breeze brush against his bare skin.
The air, the smell—completely new and unknown.
Rex exhaled slowly as the thought of being outside of the forest settled in, and his heart thumped.
Slow but Steady.
Badum. Badum.
His emotions started to run rampant, his heart beating rapidly, overwhelmed by the feelings swirling within him...
Pressure for the new beginning? Or was it happiness? Freedom, maybe? A mix of excitement and nervousness bubbled up inside him, each emotion twisting and turning as he couldn't pinpoint one.
Rex took another breath, letting the crisp air fill his lungs. But this time, something else surfaced.
A hunger.
Not the kind that gnawed at the stomach, but the kind that clawed at the soul.
On Earth, he had been weak. A nobody. To survive, he had worked twice as hard as others, grinding through 14-hour while others did eight. Power and money—those were the only things that mattered to him. The only things that could shield him. Because the moment you lacked them, you were nothing!
However, he had learned that too late.
The weak followed. The strong ruled.
That was the truth of every world, no matter how much people pretended otherwise.
He had been reminded of it every day—trapped, insignificant, powerless—all because he dared to defy someone stronger.
But here? This world was different. No false laws. No chains disguised as rules.
Only strength.
And if strength was all that mattered...
His lips curled into a slow, hungry grin.
I won't just survive, he murmured, the words tasting right on his tongue. "I'll take everything this world has to offer."
A shiver ran down his spine—not from the cold, but from the thrill of it. Power. Control. Dominion.
It wasn't just a thought anymore. It was a promise.
His golden eyes gleamed with newfound clarity.
"I'll rise."
He was alone. Free. The world lay open before him, vast and dangerous. And though he had a companion, he wouldn't rely on it—not yet.
But power alone isn't enough, he muttered, his gaze drifting across the vast expanse before him.
"I'll also have fun and relieve through everything while... I rise!" He muttered under his breath as if to remind himself of it.
The endless sky.
The towering trees.
The way the wind whispered through the leaves.
His lips curled slightly. It's beautiful. He thought, taking in the vast beautiful picturesque.
For the first time, he wasn't trapped in the cycle of survival.
He was standing at the threshold of something greater, a world ripe for the taking.
But while also having fun!
As his thoughts churned a voice echoed in his head.
{I want to see the outside world too.}
Rex heard an unknown voice and stepped back. His instincts kicked in as he immediately pulled out both of his daggers.
Narrowing his eyes with alertness, he waited patiently, trying to hear the voice again to determine its location.
{Fast, fast. I want to come out and see.}
"Ahh," he voiced, as he figured the voice was coming from his head, and not from his immediate surroundings.
Letting out a nervous chuckle, he muttered casually, "Come out,"
Soon enough, the young purple lightning bird rose, soaring through the skies happily as if it was her first time flying freely.
Rex had gained some considerable distance from the forest as he walked aimlessly, following a single laid-out path, not knowing where it would take him.
{Mamma never let me do this. Father is the best!}
Rex blinked. "Father?"
{I'm not your father. Call me Master or... better, Rex,} he thought and corrected the beast.
{Okay, Father.}
Rex tilted his head in consideration. "I, uhm, whatever." He shook his head, giving up rather easily.
"Oh, I almost forgot. System, show me the bird's status," Rex asked, having nothing better to do as he walked.
A transparent panel fluttered in front of him, displaying the bird's information.
[Name: Arcalis]
[Entity: Beast]
[Species: Thunderblaze]
[Bloodline: Skywrath Lineage]
[Rank: Spirit Rank 2-Stars]
[Potential: B]
[Loyalty: 6%]
[Subordinate Ranking: Subjugated]
Rex saw the same information about the bird, but there were two new lines added from the last time he checked.
"Only 6% loyalty?" he muttered in a dazed manner. And then he thought about its name "Calling it Arcalis or lightning bird or doesn't right," he grumbled.
Tilting his head back, he thought, I should probably give it another name.
The system prompted as he thought about it.
"Yes," he gave an approving nod.
Rex walked subconsciously, stroking his chin as his thoughts wandered.
"Hmmm...," he exhaled slowly, humming.
"What should I name the bird?... The system termed it as Arcalis," he pieced together, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Minutes later, After jumping from one name to another...
Rex cast a doubtful glance at the beast flying in the sky and perked up, a bright, satisfied smile forming. He patted his shoulders for coming up with a good name.
{I've finally come up with a name for you.}
{My name? What is my name Father?} the beast asked telepathically.
"ARCANE!" Rex shouted without using telepathy, a deep, happy smile still lingering on his face.
The system prompted in his head.
{Arcane. Arcane is good,} the beast replied happily, its eyes twinkling with delight as it soared.
{Haha, I know right.} Rex replied confidently.
The system requested if it should display the bird's status—scratch that, Arcane's status!
And as he agreed, a window fluttered in purple color.
[Name: Arcane]
[Bloodline: Skywrath Lineage]
[Rank: Spirit Rank 2-Stars]
[Loyalty: 6%]
There weren't many changes in the status panel, except for the name.
Growl!
Rex's stomach growled.
He took out a few fruits from the bag Shun had given him and called out. {Arcane, come here and eat these fruits.}
{Coming, Father. Arcane is also hungry} The bird screeched and flew down, landing directly on his shoulder.
They both shared the same fruit, Taking turns as they gnawed. Soon, all the fruits were gone just like that, barely filling their stomachs.
Arcane soared to the skies once again, delighted with its newfound freedom.
Rex worried that the beast would be harmful or unfriendly, giving him a hard time taming it properly. But to his pleasant surprise, that was not the case.
"Damn, how long should I walk—?" Rex huffed in irritation as he paused mid-sentence and looked up, narrowing his focus. {Arcane, can you see any humans or villages nearby?}
{What are villages? Can we eat it?} was the beast's only reply.
"I guess she too young without much knowledge," He mused. but then he Figured, "I'm no better than her." He shook his head as he reflected on his own limited understanding of the world.
{Hmm... Let me think... it's a place with a lot of structured dens, and no trees like the forest. It's open, with people walking around on the ground...}
He tried to elaborate, Yet the beast already spotted something matching his description.
{Oh! I can see it, Father. It's not very far from here.}
Rex's eyes lit up. {How far? Can you tell that?}
{The same distance you walked after naming me, Father.}
"Oh, that's a nice description. So, Ten more minutes," Rex sighed in relief.
{Good job, Arcane. Now come back—you can't be seen when we're with humans.}
{But... I want to stay outside and keep flying,} Arcane protested, unhappiness clear in its tone.
{I'm sorry, Arcane, but that will only be possible when we have enough knowledge and strength,} Rex explained gently, convincing her.
{Now, please come quickly, Arcane,} he softened.
Arcane slowly flew toward him and landed on his shoulder.
Rex brushed his fingers lightly over Arcane's head and nodded with a small smile. "Good"
Arcane sulked, looking away. He chuckled and placed it in Tamer's Sanctuary.
Rex walked for a few minutes, the grass fading away as the path grew smoother, leading him steadily toward...

A village.
As he walked, The distant blurry village came into a clear view. Just barely away from 10-20 steps.
Rex could now see the entrance and a few houses scattered within. As he scanned the village he saw...
A young man, around 18 years old, with jet-black hair, walked toward him.
"Hey, you lost or something?" the young man asked, eyeing Rex curiously.
