I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 31: The journey and Decision
Deep within the lower zone of the Hundred Thousand Mountains, a dense forest stretched endlessly in every direction.
A low growl echoed through the trees.
Grrr... grrrr
awoooo!
A pack of dark wolves burst through the bushes, tearing the vines in their path.
Ahead A black horse with a robed figure dashed across the dense trees, maneuvering with precision.
The robed figure glanced back and gazed through the white plain mask.
At that very moment, a massive dark wolf burst from the bushes, it looked left and right before spotting its prey and frantically started chasing again.
Seeing this, the robed man grabbed the reins, flicking them again and telling the horse to go faster.
It was Kairos, Kairos nozvan.
Despite the monster surge, was it bad luck he didn’t know. But just on the second day of entering the forest, he was being chased by a pack of dark wolves.
Kairos flicked the reins again, steering the horse to trail them off.
The pack of wolves weren’t anything special, but the commotion they were causing was the problem. He didn’t want to attract any attention, be it from other monsters or humans, who knows what can happen.
’This won’t do, I have to speed up,’ he uttered to himself and started injecting Mana within its leg straps.
Instantly, from the straps, the runes glowed up, and an intricate variation of agility sigil appeared. It was for the horse to run faster.
He didn’t activate it,rather, it was instantly covered with his purple mist.
During the journey he didn’t have the chance to try out his odd element in depth. But he did figure out something of what really happened back at the surge.
Instantly, the sigil got cloned by two. He pulled it, creating two more.
And just like at the monster surge, the color of his element changed. This time it was all clear it was blue in color. And within it. Six Agility sigils stacked up.
That was it! That’s the miracle that happened at the surge!.
His element can clone anything! Including already cloned things again, adding a double layer.
And that’s why His element’s color changed to blue then and now.
"It’s really mana hungry," Kairos uttered. Unlike normal cloning, which consumes less mana, this double layer is already taking a huge toll.
But he was still happy, as his limit was four sigils using the single layer. But with this double layer he can pull six of them at the same time.
There was also a downside, Through this he can’t control how many to use like the normal way.
Soon a clearing opened up, it was a small path. Where grass and vegetation dried up.
This was it. This was the chance.
Instantly, he activated them all.
The six Agility Sigils flared to life at once. Causing its muscles to bulge up, it screamed maniacally, pushing off and leaving a trail of dust behind.
Kairos held the reins properly. Wind roared past Kairos’s ears, and his robes fluttered.
Slowly the swirls of the wolf disappeared as it ran across the open field to the horizon, just him with his horse.
This was it! This was the thrill! He lost in that noble house. This was the freedom!
---
Slowly the sun began to set down. Kairos didn’t stop, nor did the horse. During this whole time, they got chased again by a few of the monsters.
But they lost them eventually. Kairos has to say this horse was really good. It was the same one he used during the surge.
But in the next second he felt some sadness.
"I can’t take it with me at the academy."
The Owsdin Academy doesn’t allow one to take their steed with them. He had to sell it away.
Their journey continued, As they pass through the night, with a blue moon shining up in the sky. And soon, slowly but surely, he started seeing more and more people heading forward.
All heading towards one direction, the city of Ows! That is enclosed and under the supervision of the Owsdin Academy itself.
Many small red rocks were placed alongside the paths. Causing monsters to stay away from it a little. Those also worked as a direction.
Their speed slowly slowed down as they got closer and closer to the city. Before finally reaching the city after a gruesome three day journey nonstop.
Atop the mountain, Kairos stood there with his horse, gazing below at the glittering city enclosed by a thin blue dome.
The Ows City, the city of magic!. It was inhabited inside a huge crater, in fact, where he’s standing is also part of the aftermath and the edge of the crater.
The path here on was steep, he had to come down and guide the horse.
He gave it some spat and scratches. It did well, it also didn’t take any rest along with him.
But this was the end, the end of their journey. Not far from there, he could see many carriages and horses stopping.
That was the place he had to sell it away. Just like many others. He looked at it for a long time.
It’s been said, "When a horse and a man become one, they can feel each other’s emotions." It stopped bulging to go further.
"Neehya"
Kairos tried pulling it, but it didn’t budge from its place. Kairos tried again this time. It snarled, bringing its legs up and slamming them down against the ground.
"You..." Kairos looked at them and then looked far ahead.
Before sighing and turning around. Holding its reins. This time it moved without resistance.
His heart felt heavy, but with its willingness, he can’t let it go, seeing its eyes like that.
He led it far away from the path to a secure place enclosed by rocks. He hesitated again for a moment before bringing out two small cores from his bag, which his father gave him.
And presented that in front of it.
Originally horses were pets, not beasts capable of forming cores. But there’s a way to change that, and it’s simple, feed it cores of actual monsters.
But it’s a cruel method, the chance of it adapting to it was one in ten. Failure means death.
He left it in a secure place. If it adapts, it will become a beast. If it doesn’t, it will die.
But if it does adapt, it would be a beast. And he can take it in the academy in terms of it being a pet.
It’s not like the Owsdin Academy didn’t see such problem it’s just the whole city itself is a place where only those who have mana can enter.
His horse looked at him for a moment. Before taking the small cores in its mouth. And ate them, for a second nothing seemed to happen.
But a moment later it snarled up at the moon before collapsing on the ground.
Kairos sighed at the end, he really did it. He spent a few more minutes securing the place more.
The process would take ten to twenty days, deciding his fate. He could only leave it here and check on it after that.
He left the place again. Following the rugged path leading down towards the old city.
