I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 30: Before the Journey
Kairos’s eyes twisted before slowly peeled open, he stared at the ceiling for a few moments.
Before gradually images of what happened that day flashed in his mind. He raised his hand. His soul gear formed within his hand it responded to him with a soft hum.
Was that strange power because of his soul gear? But he remembered he clearly saw dozens of sigils, he was sure even the color of his mist changed to something that of blue.
Perhaps he has yet to grasp his odd element.
"Heh... that’s one fine sword you’ve got there, boy."
Kairos recognized that voice and tilted his head.
"Grandpa"
Zaroth Nozvan, his grandfather, was sitting right beside him. And the way the old man smiled... It felt as if he had known all along that Kairos would wake up right at this moment.
"That was spectacular, Boy. I knew you were talented, but I didn’t know that much. Is that power the sword’s ability?"
Kairos made the sword vanish before sitting up. "I really don’t know." In fact, he really doesn’t.
Zaroth looked at him, nodding. "Well, if you pull that off one time, you will be able to use that in the future too. And congratulations for awakening your bloodline."
Kairos frowned before realization came.
Those raging flames, did he consciously use his bloodline?
"I see, so that was my bloodline power," he muttered, looking at his hands. Before gazing towards the sky at the drifting clouds.
It was beautiful... yet heavy.
The world felt full of secrets, and he had once believed he already knew everything this caged world has to offer.
"You have been asleep for two days now." "
Hearing that, Kairos was taken back. He didn’t feel like that much time had passed.
Zaroth smiled, standing up before slamming his hand onto Kairos’s back. Making him let out a sharp gasp.
"That’s normal, boy. Now get some rest. I’ll go tell Valeria and your father."
Kairos nodded, rubbing his back, his brows twisting. This damn old man always liked hitting him like that, and it hurt every time!
After a while, his mother and father, along with Master Kaelen and the guild master, came all together.
It turns out they were having a meeting, and his grandfather barged in, not caring about anything. Although neither did his parents, who came rushing here, leaving behind all the important figures.
After a whole hour, they finally left, giving him a moment of relief.
"That was quite exhausting."
The whole time, Master Kaelen and the guild master, whom he is seeing for the very first time, only praised him, and as time went by, more figures came, mostly probing about the strange miracle he did.
Now finally he had some time alone. He gazed outside at the blue moon before gazing at the city.
No major damages happened to the city, but it still needs to go back to normal. It would take a few days... and moreover, the monster surge just ended, and this was the perfect time to...
Before he could think further, the door opened slightly and a person stepped in. It was his father.
He was carrying some kind of robe along with a few things. Seeing his son looking at him, he kept the things aside.
Before pulling out a small black box, X reached out to him.
Kaiross looked at it. The box looked normal.
A pal-sized box.
His father retreated his hand before facing the window. "Open it; it’s yours."
Kairos, seeing the calm face, couldn’t help but become curious about what it was. He slowly opened it.
The moment he glimpsed it. His eyes widened, and he quickly shut it away. Looking at his father, all shocked.
Feeling his gaze, his father turned around with a calm face. "That’s yours."
Kairos was more shocked hearing those words.
"But this father...I..."
His father smiled seeing his reaction. "The fact you recognized it makes it more clear now. You want it, don’t you?"
Kairos clicked. That’s true, not many can recognize it with a single glance, but his reaction was obvious.
His mind raced, trying to form an excuse.
"Father, I..." "
Lucian sighed before placing a hand on his shoulder.
"You can have it, just know this. That’s a cursed item tied with blood."
"I don’t know why you needit....I will trust you with it." "
Kairos couldn’t find the words to respond with.
Yes, he had glanced at the box sitting on the desk,he wouldn’t deny that. But he never thought that brief look would be enough for his father to know he wanted
Lucian smiled again, patting his shoulder. "No need to think too much. Just promise me one thing, whatever it is... It won’t be a waste."
Kairos again became confused as to what to say, but seeing the calm eyes staring at him, something within him told him he had to say yes.
"I will, Father." "
Hearing that, a reassuring smile spread over his face. He turned around, picking up the other things he carried with him and placing them in front of him.
Kairos finally got a glimpse of what these things were, it was a black robe of high quality with few intricate details hidden from gaze. It was an engraved item, or, to say, an artifact.
Aside, it was a small leather bag with a few daggers attached to it, and from the small opening at the side, as it wasn’t locked, he could see there were multiple vials in it.
Considering the size of the vials, Kairos right away thought of them being poison, the ones people use to hunt beasts and monsters.
His thoughts shifted as his father grabbed the big thing. It was a wooden box. He slowly opened them, revealing a pair of razor-sharp big gloves made of hundreds of adamite plates all joined together. In simple words, high quality! Gear.
Aside, it was a small white scroll with the Nozvann logo on it.
"These are all yours too." "
Before Kairos could give a reply, his father spoke.
"You are thinking of leaving too, aren’t you?" "
Kairos gulped, his hunch had been right.
This man knew everything... or maybe he was just terrible at hiding his intentions.
Regretfully Kairos could only sigh, "Yes, Father." "
With the recent monster surge, the majority of the monsters have been killed or fled, even if they are alive, most will likely stay hidden within their homes, giving people the perfect opportunity to travel the hundred thousand mountains.
And two days have already passed. He has to leave quickly if he wants to reach the Owsdin Academy without much hassle. And it seems his father already peered through his intentions and even prepared everything for him.
His father began to speak, "Owsdin Academ is a place where geniuses all over the world gather. You will meet many there."
He paused for a second before continuing. "Your status there as a baron is nothing. Many will provoke you; many enemies will rise there."
Kairos nodded, gripping the box and the content. The words might seem like a teaching: the parents always give, and the children ignore. But what he said wasn’t the same case; it was true, Owsdin Academy was a far bigger power than mere barons; even dukedoms are surpassed. The power that affects the whole continent.
"I understand, Father," he said quietly. "I’ll be careful."
"Your mother prepared the horse already."
"Your brother gave you that item; your mother gave you that."
Hearing the words, Kairos couldn’t help but give a dry laugh. Were his intentions so open? That even his whole family knows.
He was confident about his secrecy and the skills he learned being undercover in the mercenary days.
But now he felt like he couldn’t depend on that anymore. Even his grandfather and brother, who always stay outside, know what he’s up to.
"Thank you, Father," he said sincerely, bowing his head slightly. "I... I’ll make sure none of this is wasted."
Nodding, Lucian smiled.
Their talk continued for a few more minutes before Lucian left, leaving behind Kairos, who was now gazing outside, feeling the last bits of pleasant wind this place has to offer, in utter silence.
Time passed by, and eventually the sun rose slowly, lighting up the Nozvan estate, starting everyone’s daily life and their routine.
While at the upper floor of the Nozvann estate on the balcony, three figures were standing still, facing towards the hundred thousand mountains stretched endlessly throughout the horizon.
"So he really did take that seed," Zaroth Nozvan spoke.
Lucian nodded with a long sigh, "Yes, Father-in-law."
Are you sure about that though, Lucian?"
"I believe in him... and moreover, I have one more," Lucian spoke, taking out another small box containing another seed of life.
Zaroth nodded, wondering what that brat needs that for, and at the same time couldn’t help but chuckle, looking forward to what his grandchild does out there in the big world.
Meanwhile, Valeria felt more worried and finally spoke up.
"Will he really be alright going like that... Owsdin Academy is quite far from here..." "
"You can rest easy, I’ve seen him fight. He’s far more capable than you think." "
Valeria gave a nod, understanding what her father meant, but still she couldn’t feel but was worried.
"Still, I’m worried about what if he... Luciansaysysomething."
Zaroth chuckled. "Wasn’t that spectacular enough?"
Valeria turned, quite hearing that. Memories flashed right before her eyes the immense power and the flaming bird heading towards the blue moon. Opening its wings wide. It was his, so who had done it?
She finally gave in and calmed down. Giving her son one last silent prayer she always had.
"Yes, he will be all right."
