I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 243: Troublemakers
After asking the waiter, Miguel came to know the reason for Maras’ absence during this time.
As it turns out, he went out earlier to try and persuade the twins not to go once more. However, it had been a while and he was still not back. Even his waiter and the other workers in the tavern were already worried about his well being.
As for the unusual number of crowds present inside the tavern, Miguel also learned that they were here for Maras, or to be precise, for the twins and the location of that site that they had discovered.
Apparently, their description of the site made the others realize that the site probably houses a rare treasure that no one would be able to ignore.
Considering that Maras was not back yet and with a lot of mercenaries present in the tavern, Miguel guessed that the twins must have decided to explore that passage for their own. Maras must have gone to help or either take them back.
As they were eating wholeheartedly, a commotion suddenly broke out from behind them.
BAM!
A man with a full beard and armor suddenly slammed the table right in front of a waiter the moment he took a seat.
"Do you think I’m blind? I am asking where Maras had gone to!"
Behind him was his mercenary crew full of violent tempers. Each of them had a grin on their face as they looked at the waiter who was now trembling in fright.
"S-sir. I am sorry but I truly do not know where our boss went!"
If Maras was here, the waiter would have acted cowardly as Maras was both the owner and the bodyguard of the tavern. No one would dare to mess around if he was around even if it was a well-known fact that he was already a disabled fighter.
"Don’t lie straight to my face, or else..." the leader, who had now sat down smirk and looked around the area. It was apparent from his looks that he would cause trouble if the waiter did not disclose the location of Maras. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Sensing the commotion, the loyal customers actually stood up one after the other, intending to help, however, upon seeing the face of the man as well the crew behind him, the loyal customers quieted down and as they held their heads low as they went to the exit.
"This..." a troubled look appeared on the waiter’s face.
He doesn’t know how to handle this kind of situation right now. It was obvious that they were here to cause trouble, and that even if he told them a location, they would still probably not believe it and blame him for lying.
Their agenda was obviously the Maras Tavern itself.
"You better stop before it’s too late."
A calm voice suddenly resounded inside the tavern, garnering the attention of everyone present inside the room.
The mercenary leader scoffed upon hearing the voice. He already knew that Maras was not here. There was nothing to be afraid of. Without even bothering to look at where the voice was coming from, he slammed the table once more and growled, "Hmmp! I said what I said. I have a feud with Maras. If your boss, Maras, doesn’t come out, I’ll wreck havoc and make sure that there won’t be any tavern around here after he comes out."
He obviously wanted to say more but he realized that someone had suddenly tapped his shoulder.
He looked up and noticed that it was one of his crew.
"What’s the matter? Can’t you see that I’m busy here?" The mercenary leader grumbled. In his mind, he was already planning what kind of punishment he would hand out to this rascal later.
However, a few seconds passed and the rascal still did not answer him. Still, his hands were firmly put on his shoulder, making him even more displeased. He stared at the rascal and was just about to yell at him when he noticed something peculiar on his face.
The rascal gulped a mouthful of saliva as he pointed to the counter while saying, "B-boss... he, he’s there."
"Hmm? Who-"
The moment he turned his head to look and saw the mask, his whole body immediately shivered in fright as his words got stuck on his throat.
He immediately stood up from his seat while wiping the seat awkwardly.
"Misunderstanding. Misunderstanding. This is just a misunderstanding. I think we got the wrong tavern, hehe," he stated with an awkward and nervous smile.
In his mind, he could not help but curse his bad luck for coming here during this time. Nowadays, almost everybody knows of Elder Journey as well as his strength. The massacre at the circus had also spread, making him even more notorious, especially to those who realized that the ones he killed were not just some random circus performers.
Of course, he also knew that Elder Journey frequented this tavern and was seen being familiar with Maras. This was the reason why he immediately came here to create trouble upon knowing that Elder Journey was still at the academy watching the annual competition there.
It took him some time to investigate that Maras was indeed not in the tavern and that Elder Journey was indeed still at the academy so he dared to come here brazenly. What he did not expect though was that Elder Journey was actually already here.
The mercenary leader looked at the rascal who patted his shoulder and yelled while making his way to the exit, "You rascal! You’ve given me the wrong information. This is clearly not the tavern that we are looking for. Are you asking for a beating for doing such a simple task wrong?"
The man could only smile wryly after getting blamed for something he did not do.
It was clearly the leader himself who led them here with much swagger earlier, why was he blaming him now?
Unfortunately, he could not say anything and did not dare to do so as well. Not to mention the Elder Journey, he knew that he would land himself into trouble if rebutted the words of his boss.
In the end,he could only follow behind his boss’ back as they retreated away in a hurry from this dangerous place.
However, before his boss could open the door, the same calm voice resounded once again in the room.
"Wait!"
