I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 244: Strange Situation
The mercenary leader stopped in tracks upon hearing the commanding voice. He slowly turned back and said with a shaky, "Y-yes?"
His goal for coming here was just actually to create trouble and let Maras come out. If Maras truly came out, he would retreat immediately and everything was no longer his concern.
This was the plan.
Unfortunately, the plan has failed from the beginning.
"Who told you to come here?" Elder Journey’s calm voice resounded once more.
The mercenary leader, named Thomas, gulped a mouthful of saliva as he answered, "Ah, It’s a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding. This is not the tavern that we’re looking for."
Cold sweat trickled down his spine.
Even though Elder Journey did not look at him, Thomas still felt that he was being stared at by a ferocious beast.
"He won’t repeat himself," a feminist voice resounded this time.
Edith, who calmly took a sip of the juice she was holding, stated with the same calm demeanor.
Thomas shivered even upon hearing the voice. He was well aware of their capabilities.
However, recalling the law of this place, he forcefully calmed his emotion down.
Disputes were permitted, but no one shall kill inside the city.
If previously this trio could brazenly kill their way out of the circus area, then the situation right was different.
At that time, they had ’justified’ reason to purge out the assassins, hence, no one blamed the trio for the massacre, in fact, some were even grateful for their actions.
However, he and the others were clearly just mercenary groups. Even if they created trouble, they would be imprisoned at most.
Recalling this, Thomas’ confidence grew and his nervousness erased somehow.
"Truly, just a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding!" Thomas insisted with a smile.
Not knowing what he was planning, the crew behind him was already prepared to escape if something went awry. One of them even already had one foot step out of the tavern’s door.
Hearing that he was still denying even though his words earlier were pretty clear, Edith was just about to flare up when Miguel raised his hand to stop her.
"Okay, you may go then."
Thomas smiled triumphantly hearing his reply, "Alright, thank you for sparing me, Elder Journey."
With that, their mercenary group hurriedly left the Maras Tavern.
The waiter was confused about what had just happened. The situation disappeared as quickly as it occurred.
He could only go to Elder Journey and say his thanks before moving on.
After Miguel and the two finished their meal, they also left Maras Tavern.
It may seem as if Miguel had decided to let it go, he was actually curious about the whereabouts of Maras and the twin. He knew for sure that Maras had gone to look for the twin and it seems like the twin had truly gone to that site for an expedition.
The mercenary group causing trouble inside Maras was not just coincidence.
Miguel knew that they were somehow connected.
’Searching for that site’s location?’
Miguel made a guess.
Anyway, he did not think that this had anything to do with him so he was not that concerned.
Donning the outfit of Sid, Miguel stored both Edith and Aaliyah inside his grimoire as he set out to Crestwoods outside the city once again.
Since he already accepted the mission, he doesn’t have to go back to the guild unless he finished it or wanted to void the mission to get a new one.
With Sid’s ugly face and strength, he had already become somewhat notorious in the Crestwoods.
Most of the people there knew that if they saw someone ugly, they should not provoke him as he was most likely a strong acting weak kind of guy.
Due to this situation, the oppressed ugly people managed to take a breather.
When Miguel arrived at the Crestwoods, it was still bustling with activity. None of the mercenaries around wanted to give up the huge reward for finding that beast.
As for Miguel, he just strolled around in a haughty manner, waiting for someone to provoke him.
However, he realized that a strange situation had occurred every time he walked toward a group of mercenaries.
The moment they saw him, they would instantly flee as if they saw an extremely evil person.
Some would even leave some words like, "This spot has no owner, it’s yours."
’Is this face so ugly that they think I’m carrying a plague?’
Miguel pondered as he saw another group fleeing away the moment they saw him.
What he did not know was that the word of him ’bullying’ the Manger Mercenary troops has already been spread by the witnesses during that time.
If someone still dared to provoke an ugly person right at this time, they must either be strong, or unaware of the situation.
As he was walking searching for prey, Miguel even saw some scene where a group of strong mercenaries worshiping a weak ugly dude. Miguel could easily discern their strength so he was also confused about the situation.
It was only when Miguel was approached by some mercenary that he finally understood what was going on.
At first, he thought that the mercenaries were there to provoke him.
Unfortunately, they actually came to become his friends.
Miguel was bewildered and was left confused for a few seconds.
It was only when he asked what was going on that he finally knew of the situation.
It turns out this was his own fault.
Indeed, his approach to getting provoked was not wrong. However, he easily handled the Manger Mercenary, and hence, no one dares to provoke him anymore.
Not only him, it seems that all the ugly dudes had also benefited, as they were no longer oppressed because of their looks alone.
One of the mercenaries that approached him even said that someone was already planning to marry an ugly dude, believing that dude to be the ’ugly warrior’ that defeated the Manger Mercenary group.
Miguel could not help but shake his head about this strange development.
"Are you sure that you want to befriend me? What if I am not that person that you’re trying to befriend?"
