I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 178: The Books
Nova thought for a moment before asking Journey, "It’s still free, right?"
Miguel nodded his head and chuckled lightly. "What do you mean it’s free? You have to pay me by giving me a Flame Fruit in very good condition."
Hearing that, Nova finally nodded her head. She knew that this was just Journey’s way of not making them feel bad for receiving something for free.
She looked at Luna and told her to step forward and receive treatment.
Her wounds and injuries were much more severe compared to Nova’s. Miguel used [Mystic Mend] over and over again until all the wounds closed up, with the exception of the deeper ones.
A relieved expression washed over Luna and Nova as they bowed in gratitude toward Journey.
With most of their injuries being healed, they actually planned to go back right away to harvest the Flame Fruit. However, Miguel told them that they should rest properly first before going back again.
Fortunately, Miguel was able to convince both of them not to go.
The two soon left the premises as Miguel and his two beauties went inside the villa.
They were only planning to stroll around and eat breakfast earlier. However, due to the incident, they ended up getting caught up in some minor troubles.
Miguel was satisfied with their actions earlier. It truly managed to deceive all of them, as Journey’s name was once again cleared of suspicion.
With the Truth Paper to back him up as well as a witness like Timbaru, he knew that Cardino would not bother with him for the time being. His actions earlier would also serve as a lesson to the others that Journey was not easily provoked.
In the basement, Miguel laid out the blacksmithing tools as Aaliyah went around to make some adjustments to the area.
At the corner, Edith could be seen squishing the tortoise’s cheek as it struggled to break away from her.
Miguel was in the center, continuing the work from yesterday as they waited for the rare books that Damian would send later.
A few hours had passed in the blink of an eye. It was already an hour past noon, and Damian should be here any minute now if he was true to his words.
Miguel and the duo went back to the villa’s entrance and waited.
A few moments later, Damian indeed came. Beside him was Domen, who acted subservient.
Both of them brought an arm full of books.
It was as though they were trying not to act like they were taking these things lightly. Damian specially ordered Domen that they bring these books to Journey by hand and not store them inside their grimoire casually.
After receiving the books, Miguel allowed them to hover around him using [Psychokinesis] as he asked Damian, "I did not cause too much trouble, right?"
Damian smiled wryly and was about to reply that he did, but he held back and stated, "Of course not, Elder Journey. It was his fault for provoking an elder like you. Even though he is already the city lord, a Red Family member must still respect the Red Family elders."
"And I kind of know the reason for him acting that way toward you. He had actually been eyeing this villa ever since it was confiscated by the Red Family. However, he was already the city lord, and the family could not easily give him such a huge property for nothing. He must have felt bitter knowing that the villa was given to you all of a sudden when he had been eyeing it for years already."
Of course, what Damian stated was the truth. As Cardino’s close friend, he knew more than anyone else how badly Cardino wanted this villa for himself.
"Well, you can just tell him to behave. After all, changing a city lord is not an easy thing to do, right?" Journey stated with a hint of threat to his voice.
Damian nodded his head, understanding the threat behind his words.
Although he was Cardino’s friend, Damian would still want to protect and benefit the family as a whole. At this moment, it was obviously more favorable for them if they maintained a close relationship with Journey than with Cardino.
After all, Journey has the strength to back him up, while Cardino only has his men, which could probably be brought by money if given the right amount.
"Right, I’ll go visit the library in a few days. Can you inform the workers there in advance in case they don’t recognize me?"
"Elder Journey, as long as you present the token that Domen handed to you, no one in the Red Family would dare ignore you," Damian assured.
Damian and Domen left the premises a few moments later.
As they walked a hundred meters away, Domen could not help but look back at the villa in admiration.
"Father, is he really that strong? What about the other elders? Can they restrain him if he goes rogue?"
Hearing the question, Damian thought for a moment before nodding his head. "If what he’s showing is the ceiling of his strength, then the other elders would be able to subdue him just fine. Not to mention them, there was still the Supreme Elder that had been hiding in seclusion. If he makes a move, even if Elder Journey’s strength is double, he would still not be able to defeat the Supreme Elder."
"Besides, Elder Journey had made a vow to the heavens, so he would not be able to betray the Red Family even if he wanted to."
"Right now, what we should be concerned about is how to use his status as an elder carefully. We must thread in thin lines while maintaining balance to work around with him."
"At this moment, Elder Journey is only showing his strength. We still don’t know if he had other means. If he’s as knowledgeable as Erika said, then we can use him to teach our young, especially you, a trick or two about summoning. I heard that Erika was now able to summon her grimoire in less than eight seconds. It was rumored that she received the guidance of Elder Journey in Red Cliff City before."
"If you can obtain his trust, you’ll be able to soar more with your talent."
Domen nodded his head upon hearing his father’s words. He looked back at the villa once again, determination flashing across his eyes as he set a small goal for the time being.
...
In the master’s room, Miguel laid out the books he received from Damian as he sorted them out according to their topics.
Joy was written over his eyes and he examined them one by one.
There were a variety of topics from the books that Damian had brought over.
There was even a martial artist technique among them. Miguel decided to read it first as the two beauties decided to fiddle with the other books as well.
However, knowing them, Miguel knew that they would easily lose interest on them so he had already prepared the dual cultivation technique he wrote so that they could study along with him.
And just like what he expected, Edith was the one who lost interest first. She took the book that Miguel wrote for them as she began to seriously study the dual cultivation technique. Aaliyah followed behind her a few moments later as the room became deathly silent.
Miguel smiled to himself as he continued to read and read.
With his reading speed and comprehension speed, it did not take long for Miguel to finish the martial artists book. He did not waste any time and proceeded to read the next one. This one was only a theory about Grimoire Summoning Energy and where they originally came. As the creator and the one who discovered Origin Energy, Miguel was very sensitive to such a topic. He took pride in this knowledge, and he would not feel well if he knew that someone had managed to discover it before him.
After reading half of the content, Miguel realized that the author of the book was only speculating. He stated that Grimoire Summoning Energy was always present, but no creature could control it like how the Grimoire do. Due to this property, the author theorizes that the Grimoires were the treasure of this world, and those who awakened them had the right to be arrogant.
He described the Grimoires as the Elite of the human race, and that their status should be elevated to be the nobles.
Of course, Miguel could understand where the author was coming from.
Grimoire users were rare to begin with, and with them being favored by the World’s Will, it would not be a groundless assumption for anyone to think that they were the elite of the human race.
If he was born in this world without the knowledge of a bigger universe out there, even he himself would feel that the author’s words made sense and the truth. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Fortunately, Miguel’s eyes were already open.
He did not believe in such an elitist behavior and thought that the World’s Will was actually treating everyone the same way.
