Cardino’s body was lifted up a foot above the ground as his body slowly floated toward Miguel.

Cardino grasped for breath as he tried to get off of the invisible force that had gripped his neck. However, it was a futile struggle on his end as he continued to float toward Miguel with fear apparent in his eyes. He did not expect that Journey would truly do something like this. After all, he was the city lord and was well-respected in the whole city.

At the next moment, the guard captain immediately moved forward, along with his sword. Although trepidation was apparent on his face, he still mustered up the courage to attack Journey, even though he knew that it was futile. Cardino was the one who put him in his position, so it would only be natural that he would be loyal to him.

Not only him, but the two guards that had always been by Cardino’s side also moved at breakneck speed toward Miguel.

The two of them slash toward him at the same time, trying to kill him before he can do something to Cardino.

However, Miguel’s two summons would not sit idly and looked at their master, getting attacked just like that as well.

Edith moved with [Flash Step] and intercepted one of the swords coming to Miguel’s way forcefully. After blocking the sword with the ornamental sword, she did not stop and immediately kicked the guard, sending him flying backward with a huge force.

Miguel merely chuckled as he replied, "Calm? I am calm! And what does his anxiousness have to do with me?"

"Damian, don’t forget that I am just here because of your invitation. For me, this is just a transaction. I allow your family to use my strength and knowledge and be your deterrent while you provide me with books and knowledge. It was never in the contract that any of your family members could insult me like this."

"Also, don’t forget, I have already been here for a few days, but I still have not read any of the books that you promised."

"I understand your concern, Elder Journey, but could you please put him down first? He is already about to pass out," Damian hurriedly pleaded, seeing Cardino’s bluish face.

The others also feared that the city lord would die in front of them, so they also tried to plead for Miguel to let go of him.

With Damian taking the lead, most of them were no longer afraid of taking Journey’s side as well.

Timbaru came back as though nothing had happened and announced, "I can vouch for this. I already said that what I saw yesterday was a martial artist. Elder Journey is a summoner; how could he be the culprit? I have never believed the City Lord’s words of accusation toward you."

The others echoed their own comments one after the other as well.

Miguel chuckled and left the area. He planned to return to the villa and wait for the rare books that Damian had promised.

As his figure departed from everyone’s view, Timbaru immediately came toward Cardino and began to heal him. Another one also stepped forward and began to heal the injured guards.

At the side, Domen looked at Journey’s back with a complicated yet envious gaze on his face.

He wanted to attain such strength. The kind of strength where he would not bother considering the opinion of others. He had the strength to act unbridled and let others admire and fear you at the bottom of their hearts.

Domen heaved a sigh. His father was indeed right. If he wants to succeed, he must follow Journey and learn from him.

A burning determination flashed across his face as he began to plan his next course of action.
