I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 166: Martial Artist Ranks
"Transcendent?" Miguel asked curiously.
Edith nodded her head proudly.
"At the King Rank, a Martial Artist would be able to control their aura like a Gold King Beast. Aside from giving them the ability to defend themselves like a grimoire’s absolute shield, this aura can also act as a deterrent to others."
"After the King Rank is the der Rank. In the Elder Rank, a Martial Artist will become as strong as a Level 6 Gold Grade Beast. In this rank, they will learn to slightly manipulate their aura, attacking with it if they want."
"After the Elder Rank is the Prime Elder Rank. In this rank, a Martial Artist’s body is now as strong as a Diamond Grade Beast."
"Next is the Emperor Rank, the Martial Rank, the Saint Rank, and then the Innate Rank. Breaking through the Innate Rank meant that one had already transcended the mortal body and would now become a Transcendent."
"The tentacled Demon that I fought before was at this rank," she said proudly.
"King, Elder, Prime Elder, Emperor, Martial, Saint, Innate and Transcendent. I still have a long way to go, huh." Miguel stated amusedly.
He did not realize that the martial artist power system had actually developed to such a level. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"How about the summoners? Do you know their rank distinction? "
Edith nodded her head. She had lived for hundreds of years before perishing, so it was not strange that she knew a lot of knowledge, even if she did not study about it and only focused on fighting in the front lines.
"As far as I know, their ranks are divided into Apprentice, Elite, Master, Grandmaster, Lord, King, and then Emperor."
"Beast Grades are divided into Normal, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Epic, Legendary, and then Mythical. An Innate Rank Martial Artist can fight with a Legendary Beast. I don’t know the rank after that, but a Transcendent Rank is definitely stronger than a Legendary Beast."
"Transcendent Rank is more like just a legend, though, as I personally haven’t seen someone reach it yet with my own eyes. The Demon’s strength surpassed the Legendary Rank so we just assumed that they were at Transcendent Rank."
"However, I did feel it at the last moments of my life. There is definitely something higher than Innate Rank."
"As for Grimoire Grades, all I know is that they share the same rank names as Beast Grades."
Edith shared her knowledge with Miguel, broadening his horizons. Miguel listened attentively; he knew that it would take a long time for him to reach such a level of knowledge, especially since the Blazing Expanse was just a corner of the Meven Empire.
If it were any normal person, coming into contact with such knowledge would only mean more harm than benefit.
It would affect their mentality and might make them unmotivated if they knew that there was still a long way to go. Hence, the elders would try to hide the name of the higher realms and keep it a mystery for their juniors to discover in due time.
As they say, knowing too much is not a good thing. There is a reason why they say that ignorance is bliss.
However, this small matter would not affect Miguel at all. Edith was also aware of this, and with the confidence that Miguel was showing, there was no problem telling him such high-level knowledge at all.
Miguel noted it all down in his mind. He could reference it in the future if he needed to.
After that, Miguel also asked for some more knowledge that Edith might have.
Edit also answered without hiding anything, allowing Miguel to gain a deeper understanding of this world and its inhabitants than ever before.
When they were done, Miguel realized that it was already nearing the wee hours of the next day.
He stood from his seat and decided to take a shower to finally clean himself up and rid himself of the filth.
Edith volunteered to clean him, and Miguel did not decline. Edith decided to take a shower with him as well. Due to the fact that it was already late, the two of them truly just cleaned themselves this time around and did not do anything naughty, except for some touches here and there, of course.
Miguel also had another thing to do in a few moments, so they did not take long in the shower.
He then told Edith to get inside the grimoire first, as he donned a black, tight-fitting outfit like those of the Dark Snakes Assassin group. He wrapped his face in dark clothing akin to a bandage, and his figure disappeared into the shadows of the night.
...
In one corner of Blazing City, in a huge house surrounded by strong Martial Artists guards.
Orman lay on a comfortable bed, recuperating from his injuries with a frown and a heavy expression on his face.
"Is there truly no other way?" He looked at the old person sitting not far away from him. His expression was gloomy and heavy, and it was apparent that what they had talked about just a few minutes ago was not good news.
The old man wearing a white gown shook his head with a wry smile. "Mr. Orman, as I’ve said earlier, it’s not that there’s no other way; it’s just that I don’t have the capability to grow a lost limb. I apologize, but my Innate Beast, Healing Condor, could not cure an injury as heavy as that."
"If you want, I can introduce you to someone who might have the ability to cure such an injury, but you must travel to the capital as soon as possible and let her cure you in a week’s time after you get heavily injured."
Orman snorted after hearing his words: "Even with my speed, it would still take around a month’s time to reach the capital. Timbaru, isn’t that indirectly stating that I don’t have a chance of recovering my lost limb?"
For a Martial Artist who relied on their physique, losing an arm was definitely not a good thing. Especially for someone like him who usually uses his heavy saber with both hands. This was also the main reason why he wanted to grow his limb back.
Orman looked at the doctor, Timbaru, once more and asked, "How about Sendal? Is there a chance for him to recover his eyes and his Innate Skill?"
Hearing that, Timbaru took a glance at Sendal not far away. He now had a bandage all over his face, and his exposed lips were purple for whatever reason. He was not away from Orman as Timbaru shook his head slowly.
"Hmmp! Useless! And you are called the best Doctor in Blazing City with such a low skill level? Aren’t you ashamed of owning such a heavy title?"
Orman stood up from the bed and pulled Sendal from the bed as well. As he could no longer see, Orman had been pulling him around the city searching for a cure for the both of them since yesterday. Sendal was an orphan he found on the street a few years ago. Because of his Innate Skill, Orman took an interest in him, wanting to use him for his own benefit.
However, Timbaru stated earlier that although his arm still had a chance to get cured and he could still grow back his arm if he met a formidable doctor or healer, he also stated at the same time that Sendal’s eyes were badly damaged and he could no longer be cured no matter what.
All the nerves connected to his eyes have been torn off forcefully. Hence, Timabaru declared that his eyes could no longer be cured and that he would now be a blind person for the rest of his life.
Timbaru saw the two of them off as he heaved a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the two of them left his premises. He was only a doctor or a healer with average skills. Aside from the fact that he could truly not cure their injuries, deep inside, he was also afraid of the consequences of helping the two of them. He was there and was the first one to respond to their aid when everything happened yesterday, after all.
He closed the door to his house and was about to rest for the day when a dark silhouette materialized right in front of him, startling him so much that he stumbled and hit himself on the door he just closed.
"W-who are you!?" His voice trembled in fear as he backed on the door. His knees were limp, and he was extremely afraid of the person wearing a dark and tight-fitting outfit right in front of him.
"I-I don’t have any grudges against you, right? If you want something from me, I can give it to you; just please spare me my old life."
He was only a support-type summoner and was only at Intermediate Rank, even after more than a century of awakening a grimoire. He knew that he was not the other party’s opponent at all.
