Chapter 37: Thoughts

’Hermit Eden Order.....’

Mikhail stared at the words in the notebook as he leaned back on his chair.

He had already returned home from the middle school without any problems.

Kevin was definitely suspicious about the whole thing but never questioned him apart from asking what language he had used.

Mikhail pushed his chair back, making two of its legs float in the air, as he looked at the white ceiling of his room.

’....What should I do about this information?’

Even though Mikhail had the name of an organisation, he was still stumped.

It wasn’t like he could just show it to the police and get Basil Duncan arrested.

’They will probably think I am some madman.’

With a soft thump he leaned forward and looked at the name once again.

From the corner of his eyes, he found Methew walking towards him silently.

The now big cat jumped up and landed on his lap, moved around for a while before getting comfortable.

Mikhail gently patted the cat as he carefully considered his next course of action.

’I have never heard the name of this organisation, so they must have hidden themselves deeply.’

He was still unable to gauge the intention of Basil Duncan who had left the paragraph in the school.

’Was it just a taunt or was he mocking the ignorance of everyone by leaving the name behind?’

Mikhail couldn’t be too sure as he had never met the man.

He let out a deep sigh and closed the notebook.

’I am not strong enough to look into this matter.’ He thought to himself. ’And frankly, this has nothing to do with me.’

The door of his room slammed open as his small niece rushed in.

"Uncle!" Her cheerful voice rang through the room. "Dinner is ready!!"

"Meow!!"

The child walked closer and immediately grabbed the cat from his lap.

"Come with me, Methew!!"

She giggled and rushed out of the room with the cat, who gave his owner a fearful look.

Mikhail let out a chuckle and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Walking down the stairs he could hear his family talking among themselves.

When he reached the bottom, he quickly helped his mother and sister-in-law put the plates on the dining table.

Once done, he sat down beside his father and brother.

Eric’s lips curled up in a smile as he said deeply. "Are you preparing well for the college screening?"

’I am not....’ He grumbled inwardly but smiled on the outside. "Yes, I should be able to get into the Imperial University."

"Keep your reasoning at an appropriate level, brother." Emiliya said in her cold tone. "You shouldn’t give father false hope."

’But I am pretty sure I could crack the screening though...’

He thought, stopping the urge to give his pessimistic sister-in-law a sarcastic reply.

"My son is smart." Jasmine said gently, sitting down beside him. "I am sure he knows what he is saying."

Saying so, she pulled Mikhail’s cheek like he was a little boy.

Emiliya grumbled to herself and shifted her focus away. "Olivia, come here."

"Okay~." The cheerful voice of her daughter came from her room.

Mikhail let his mother do what she wanted while he looked at his brother Ronic, who was deep in thought.

"What are you thinking, brother?" Mikhail couldn’t help but ask.

The man came out of his train of thought before looking at Mikhail. After hesitating for a while he said with a sigh.

"I was thinking about the expansion of the land around the capital city, Visenya." He said in a deep voice.

"One of my friends has some connections....he said he can help me buy a small piece of land there."

Mikhail frowned but it slowly faded when he thought it through.

’No, if we bought the land then it would definitely be helpful.’

Given that Visenya City had a population of almost ten million, being one of the most crowded cities in the world, expansion was inevitable.

The city was guarded by hundred metre tall walls and was built as a fortress.

From the time the kingdom was formed by the first king Julius Aegon I, the walls had never been changed.

’It seems like they are now going to break the walls and expand the land.’

Mikhail glanced up at his father who was also deep in thought.

"...How much would it cost?" Eric asked after a lot of consideration.

"Two hundred and fifty thousand Telen." Ronic replied softly. "For a land of two thousand square feet."

Eric immediately frowned at the revelation.

"That’s too expensive." He said. "We can’t afford it."

"We can take a loan from the bank." Emiliya suggested plainly. "We can slowly repay it."

She then cast a glance towards Mikhail. "And I am sure brother will soon earn enough money to repay it quickly."

"I do not want my child to be burdened by any form of debt." Jasmine immediately cut her off. "I would never let that happen!"

Jasmine, being a devotee of the Faceless Moon, had always been against interest and banks.

It was written very clearly in the Bible of the Moon that it was unacceptable to make money from money.

"I was just suggesting, mother." Emiliya said softly. "And I don’t think Mikhail would like to see his family struggle with money."

’How manipulative you are, sister....’

Mikhail’s lips twitched but in the end he didn’t say anything.

Eric cleared his throat and said quietly. "I will think about it." He turned towards Ronic. "Arrange my meeting with your friend, I would like to talk."

Ronic tried to hide his smile as he nodded. "I will, father."

An awkward silence accompanied his words as all the members of the family sat with their own thoughts.

The silence was only broken when Olivia walked out of her room.

She had given the saddened cat a makeover, and he now looked more like a female cat with blush and lipstick on him.

Olivia raised the cat with a proud expression on her face.

"Everyone, say hello to Mattea~."

The family burst into soft laughter and giggles, and only Emiliya had an ashen look on her face because it was her makeup.

They began dinner while Mikhail thought about the upcoming college screening.

’Starting tomorrow, I will go to the forest frequently and strive to reach at least level nine before it.’

He thought, leaning back as he took in the happiness of his family.

Mikhail wanted the happiness to continue forever.
