I Awakened An Outer God Class-Chapter 36: Basil Duncan
Mikhail walked towards the main gate while keeping his gaze on the security guard.
It was a different one from last night, who was also giving them an odd look.
Kevin noticed the look on the security guard’s face and mumbled softly.
"He is looking at us like we are here to meet with middle schoolers."
Mikhail almost lost his balance but quickly controlled himself. "Can you shut the fuck up!"
"It’s not me who is rushing towards a middle school." Kevin grumbled softly.
Mikhail didn’t respond as his gaze fell on a lady teacher who had just walked out of the main gate.
Mikhail put on the brightest smile he could muster and blocked her path. "Hello, beautiful ma’am."
The lady blinked, startled by the sudden approach. Her suspicious eyes fell on Mikhail and then on Kevin.
She blinked again when she focused on Kevin. "Aren’t you the King’s rank student?"
Kevin immediately puffed his chest and replied. "You guessed right, ma’am."
The lady chuckled and said. "How can I help you?"
Mikhail immediately took the reins of the conversation.
"I have been meaning to ask, ma’am." He said politely. "Is there a teacher in your school who is in his late twenties with short black hair and a trimmed beard?"
After thinking for a few seconds he added. "He also had a mole on his nose."
The lady thought for a moment before she replied. "Are you talking about Basil Duncan?"
’Basil Duncan...?’
Mikhail immediately took note of the name and nodded his head. "Yes, do you know him?"
"Yeah." She nodded. "He was one of the few teachers that were thoroughly interrogated by the police."
The lady immediately put her hand over her mouth as if she had said something she shouldn’t have.
’...Ah, perhaps the school authority had strictly prohibited the teachers from talking about the suicide case.’
’But from her words it is basically confirmed that the man I saw was Basil Duncan.’
Mikhail immediately began to arrange his thoughts before he asked.
"He is perhaps absent today?"
The lady shook her head in response. "He resigned about six months ago." She replied. "He was doing home tutoring for a while before he left for the capital city."
Mikhail let out a sigh and immediately felt regret blooming in his chest.
’....Looks like I can’t find him anymore.’
He rubbed his temples before smiling at the lady. "Can you tell me what he taught the children?"
The lady replied instantly. "He was a history teacher." She said. "From what I remember, he was really loved by his students and was respectful to everyone."
’What an odd thing to say about someone responsible for the deaths of ten students....’
Mikhail swallowed the thought and didn’t let it appear on his face. "Was there something that he was into especially?"
The lady lowered her head as if trying to remember something.
After a few seconds she replied. "He was really into the history of the Frenedic Empire."
’The Frenedic Empire? The same empire that was formed from the collaboration of four different races?’
Mikhail found it odd that he had just gotten a book about its language and now was hearing about the empire again.
The lady added, oblivious to his thoughts. "There is also a small paragraph written in Frenedic language in the main hall of our school that he requested to be placed as a showpiece."
Mikhail’s mind buzzed as he immediately thought of a plan to look at what was written.
The lady after a few seconds narrowed her eyes. "But why are you asking about him?"
Mikhail, who was busy making plans, couldn’t come up with an answer immediately.
Kevin, the young blonde, came to the rescue.
"Basil was just an excuse he used to talk with you." He said, patting Mikhail’s back. "My friend here actually really likes you and wanted your number."
’Numb...? Mother—.’
Mikhail almost cursed him out loud but held it back when he noticed the lady buying his story.
"That’s so sweet." She said quietly. "But I am sorry, I already have a boyfriend."
She didn’t give the two of them any more of her time and began to walk away.
’...Did I get rejected without even proposing?’
Kevin patted Mikhail’s back and shook his head regrettably. "Better luck next time."
Mikhail bit his lip, holding himself back from breaking that smug face of his.
Taking in a deep breath, he walked towards the other side of the tall boundary of the school.
"What are you thinking?" Kevin asked, frowning in confusion.
Mikhail reached a safe spot and glanced at Kevin. "I need to take a look at the paragraph." He said. "Wait for me here."
Without waiting for Kevin to respond, Mikhail jumped up and immediately crossed the boundary.
He rolled to cushion his fall before rushing towards the main hall of the front building.
There wasn’t anyone around so he didn’t find anything troubling in his path.
Once Mikhail reached the same place he had been yesterday, he looked around more seriously.
Finally, his gaze fell on a weirdly written paragraph that was framed on the side of the wall.
Mikhail immediately put his bag down and took out a pen and a notebook.
He noted down the exact way the words were written within the frame and after a few minutes he had succeeded.
Without wasting any more time, he walked towards the end of the boundary from where he had arrived.
He quickly jumped and reached outside where Kevin was already waiting.
"You done?" He asked, raising his brow.
"Yes."
Mikhail replied and quickly took out the book he had gotten from the old man in the black market.
Taking in a deep breath, he began to look through the alphabets and decipher the words of the paragraph.
It took him a few minutes to get familiar with the wording and a few more to write it down in the modern language.
Taking in a deep breath, he looked at those words along with Kevin.
"The history of this world is a lie...."
"We are all living in an illusion created by ’him’..."
"There is only one truth in this world of lies...."
"Hermit Eden Order."
