I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 56: His desire
Chapter 56: His desire
Ravi looked at that outstretched hand like it was a snake. Must he? Must he shake it?
He bit his lips. An incarnate, An incarnate. Ravi repeated over and over again. He raised his hand when his phone rang, and his eyes brightened.
Saved by the phone.
Whoever was calling him, Ravi wanted to give the person a huge hug and then a peck on the cheeks. He reached out for the phone, Lisa.
This time, he did not frown or ignore her call, he picked it up.
"Where are you? Are you really that sick?"
"I am on my way."
He then looked at the blind man who was waiting patiently.
"I have to leave now. It is an emergency." He said, not able to hide the small glint of joy in his voice. With that, he turned and left, walking so fast that one would think that life and death really depended on his ability to reach where was going before five minutes.
An incarnate changes everything. If before, his resolution to chase these people away was at thirty percent, now it is at a hundred percent. They had to live in this place, he had no desire to get involved whenever an incarnate was in this place, and even if it was not a mission and it was some personal cultivation requirement, karma or whatnot, he wanted it far far far away from himself.
Ravi had no single desire to live next door to such trouble, not when he left the sentinel realm, and descended more than three thousand lower realms to find a quiet place to retire until he died and his soul returned to the Netherworld. He turned at the corner and vanished from sight.
Malik sensed the man leave, that complex scent of amber and sweet myrrh quickly moving far away. Was he running but he could not hear any footsteps, either way, he was very interesting.
"Malik, why did you stop me from killing him, he lives next door, having a neighbor would be more than troublesome." Sage mumbled, his displeasure was more than evident on his face.
"Kill him. Your killing intent did not faze him, it was worse than that. Sage, he did not see you as anything. You were not in his eyes at all. Surely even you noticed that." frёewebηovel.cѳm
Sage gritted his teeth, he clenched his fist, and lowered his head, "It is my fault for being so weak."
Malik hummed, doing nothing to correct him, "Tell me what he looks like. Paint a picture for me."
Sage thought for a while, "His eyes are kinda gray with some gold.."
"Hazel?"
"Yes, that." Sage rubbed his head, "His hair is black, He is wearing a police uniform."
"Is that all?"
"Yes. Why are you facing me suddenly?"
"Nothing." Malik’s voice was low and gentle, "I was just thinking, maybe it is time you go back to school."
Sage’s eyes widened, "How...Why? I don’t want to."
Malik did not say anything else on the matter, he turned to face the other house.
Seeing he did not pursue the matter anymore, Sage moved a little bit closer to Malik, "So what was he thinking right now, what did he desire?"
Malik scratched his chin, "His mind is like a fortress, I have never seen a mind built so compactly before. His desires did not come to me, I had to search for them, and even then..."Malik smiled, "The only thing I could scrape was that, he really wants me to leave this place as soon as possible."
Sage gasped and raised his hand to his mouth, "Do you think that he is some kind of pervert? The fact that no one is around here, he moved here so he can torture people, kill them, bury them, and then take their teeth as trophies."
Malik took a deep breath. He really needs to send this seventeen-year-old child back to school, at least so that he would stop watching all those rubbish crime movies and walking around at night.
His kill count was more than a thousand times higher than those serial killers. Why would he be afraid of them when he was then a real monster to millions of people? He could understand other people’s minds so easily, but teenagers were difficult. They did not follow logic.
"Maybe."
This time around, Sage looked left and right and huddled closer, "What should we do? Should we report him to the police?"
"Did you not say that he is wearing a police uniform? If you report him, what do you think would happen."
"You are right, he would just hide the complaint and bury it. Then he would try to kill me to cover his steps.. then he would..."
"Sage, watch less movies. If you have time, either practice your ability to be more efficient or start studying for the college entrance examination."
Sage threw a stone over to the police officer’s house but it bounced back a few meters away, "Why should I study? It is not like I want to go to college anyway." He murmured so lowly.
You say that but it is your deepest desire.
He hummed and reached out with his cane to clear the path, checking for stones or any obstacles.
"You are going to work already?" Sage asked as he tried the stone again, only for it to bounce back. A barrier.
Malik hummed quietly. This was not the Capital and he needed to work, if only to provide a perfect screen in case of any investigation in the future.
"Do I need to guide you? Would you be alright?" Sage asked, trying his best to hide the worry in his voice.
This little fool was the only one that Malik had met who would worry about him, except Anouk, well before Anouk knew who he really was. But Sage knew what he was and what he was capable of and yet he worried.
He could be so foolish, like a dog being used and yet he greets his owner so affectionately every morning.
Malik felt pity for him.
