I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 253: Leniency for Confession
Qiao Suisui didn’t hear clearly and looked up smiling, asking, "What?"
Zong Fang looked down at her intently and asked, "You aren’t the Qiao Suisui who has been with us for the past decade or so, right?"
Qiao Suisui was stunned.
"Who are you really?"
As their eyes met, Qiao Suisui saw certainty in Zong Fang’s eyes.
Anubis stepped forward, pulling Zong Fang, trying to push him away, "She just woke up; let’s ask her later."
Ruka caught the meaning in Zong Fang’s words, and a glint flashed across his eyes.
Leberli and Carl, not understanding what they were talking about, also stood up to confront Zong Fang, "What are you talking about? Make yourself clear."
"You knew too?" Carl looked at Anubis.
Anubis looked down, not denying it.
For a moment, no one in the hall spoke.
Carl couldn’t stand the atmosphere and was the first to break the silence, "Can someone tell me what the hell is going on? You’re ganging up to isolate me, aren’t you?"
For the first time in his life, Leberli agreed with Carl, "I want to know too, what’s going on?"
Qiao Suisui slowly relaxed her hand that was subconsciously gripping the blanket, her expression calm, and she smiled, saying, "Zong Fang is right, I haven’t truly been living with you for these past dozen years."
Carl, as if he’d heard a ghost story, widened his eyes in confusion, "Then who has been living with us?"
"Me too."
"?"
Carl felt confused.
Ruka’s gaze narrowed momentarily upon receiving this answer.
Leberli asked, "Do you mean there are two of you?"
Qiao Suisui, rubbing her chin, looked a bit troubled yet adorable. She got out of bed barefoot, intending to get some paper and a pen, but just as she set foot on the floor, Zong Fang scooped her up into his arms.
"What do you want? Tell me."
She blinked and asked for paper and a pen. Anubis then brought them to her.
She was put back on the bed by Zong Fang, curiously looking at him, she asked, "You know I’m not the one who has been married to you and lived with you for over a decade, so why do you still care about me?"
Zong Fang, without changing his stern expression, crouched in front of her, letting her feet rest on his legs, then he put on comfortable soft socks for her. After doing all this, he still didn’t forget to wrap his large hands around the soles of her feet.
Her hands and feet were always cold, especially during the season change that could easily lead to catching a cold.
At that moment, after making sure her body temperature was okay, he then looked up at her, his expression not very pleasant, even a bit stern?
He said, "First explain everything that needs to be explained."
Qiao Suisui pouted, thinking inwardly that the children might be afraid of you, but I’m not buying your act.
She took a pen and first drew a long horizontal line on the paper, telling them, "This is the timeline where I originally was."
Then, she marked two circles at the end and at three-quarters along this line, indicating the direction back with arrows.
"On this timeline, Anubis died, I died, then I came back to life, and then I returned to a moment in the past, creating a second timeline…" she said, drawing another long horizontal line down from the three-quarter mark.
"Wait!" Carl raised his hand, "Why did you…" as he uttered that word, he felt his tongue stiffen, "…die?"
Ruka and others also looked at him solemnly, and Qiao Suisui thought for a moment, then said, "People die, but it’s not important, I am alive now."
Zong Fang frowned, tightening his grip on her wrist, already somewhat angry, "Aren’t you telling the truth yet?"
"You hurt her." Leberli pushed Zong Fang’s hand away and took her hand, gently massaging it.
Ruka said, "Suisui, you go on."
Qiao Suisui nodded and pointed at the second horizontal line, "This is the second timeline. I stayed here for about an hour, and then I returned to the midpoint of the first timeline, where the third timeline was born."
She marked a dot at the midpoint of the first timeline and then drew the third horizontal line downward.
"Why go back to the first timeline?" Ruka asked.
Qiao Suisui looked up, her eyes meeting his golden ones. She faltered for a moment and murmured, "Because in both of these timelines, you were gone."
Ruka was stunned, seeing her slightly dazed and her eyes reddened, he stepped forward and embraced her, his voice soft to the extreme, "I’m here, I will always be here."
Qiao Suisui smiled gently, nodded vigorously, and then pointed at the third timeline, "This time, I stayed for several days, and then returned to the first timeline here."
She marked a dot at the quarter point of the first horizontal line and said, "It was also here that I met Carl."
Anubis’s eyes were reddened, his emotions swirling, lips trembling with restraint.
He looked at Qiao Suisui and said, "So... after so many times, you finally returned to that day, and that’s why... you told me that day you would try a million times for me..."
Anubis buried his head in her waist, crying uncontrollably.
"I really didn’t know, I didn’t know anything, so my dreams were real, all those things happened on different timelines..."
He was so overwhelmed that he clenched the bedsheet next to him, the veins on his arms bulging.
Anubis thought that dazzling afternoon was just an accidental encounter caused by her returning from the future to that day, never realizing she had come back many times to save him. Would she be exhausted? Would she break down? Would she be sad because she couldn’t change anything? Would she feel heartache watching him die over and over again... Thinking of this, Anubis felt he could barely breathe.
"Suisui, I’m sorry."
His face, red from emotion, was now streaked with tears.
Qiao Suisui raised her hand to wipe away his tears, her own mood infected by Anubis’s emotions, feeling sad.
Zong Fang signaled Carl with a glance. Carl, still in shock, immediately pulled Anubis away.
"She’s pregnant now; try not to upset her," Zong Fang warned.
Anubis nodded, taking deep breaths to steady his emotions.
Carl, now having caught on, mulled it over and said, "So the timeline we are in now... is the fourth timeline?"
Qiao Suisui nodded, explaining, "I can only stay in the past for 30 minutes, and every time I return from the past, no matter how many years have passed, I only return to the most recent timeline."
Zong Fang lifted his chin, a glint flashing in his silver eyes.
He finally understood everything.
It wasn’t just Anubis who was dreaming; he too had been intermittently dreaming over the years, dreaming of their various moments together.
But since he had read the letter left behind by Qiao Suisui, he knew about her returning to the past and that she would definitely come back, though he didn’t know exactly when or why she did it.
Zong Fang asked her, "So before the banquet, you had just returned from the past, right?"
Qiao Suisui thought of the time he lied about their third anniversary of being together, already probing her. Had he sensed it back then?
She found this man truly terrifying, sharp and smart. Luckily she hadn’t met him in the real world; otherwise, she wouldn’t dare face many at once like now, as she’d be caught in minutes.
She swallowed and said with an honest face, "Yes."
"Then why did you keep going back to the past? Was it really just to save Anubis?"
Zong Fang squinted at her, as if he would devour her if she showed any sign of avoidance.
It wasn’t because he doubted her, but Zong Fang couldn’t believe she had borne all this alone, without sharing with him.
