HxH : Pokemon Master-Chapter 397: Exploring the Spirit World!
Kanto.
Lavender Town.
Normally, a small town wouldn’t be particularly bustling.
But Lavender Town was an exception. It was unusually prosperous, with many people coming and going, which also boosted the local economy.
Numerous shops lined the streets.
Yet, beneath this prosperity lay a hint of chilliness. Because this town was famously known as the burial ground for Pokémon.
Many would come here after their Pokémon died, burying them within the tall tower. They would often return to pay their respects.
By a food stall, Akira, dressed in casual attire, was eating Lavender Town’s specialty—Bone Cake. It was a dessert shaped like a bone, but overall, it tasted no different from taiyaki.
The only difference was the mold, which gave it the appearance of a bone.
He usually consumed [Hope], which was rich in life energy. Occasionally, eating ordinary food offered a unique flavor.
Akira lifted his gaze to the towering spire not far away. "It seems like it’ll be a good place..."
During this period, he had visited many places. Naturally, he focused on those that were richly described in the original work.
Either because of special people or special things. He couldn’t miss Lavender Town, of course.
Entering the tower, a distinct sense of heaviness enveloped everyone’s hearts.
The tower’s decor and colors were rather gloomy, seemingly designed to evoke feelings of separation between life and death.
This made everyone who came here, already grieving, feel even more sorrowful.
Akira, however, felt nothing of the sort. Because his Pokémon normally wouldn’t die. The Pokémon created through his Aura Ability were essentially made of Aura.
Even normal Pokémon, after being influenced by his Soul Ability, would transform into an Aura-based essence.
So, there was no concept of lifespan.
The only possibility was being defeated in battle. But that was nearly impossible.
Even the weakest Pokémon in his possession now was at S-rank. Most were at SS-rank. They weren’t so easily killed.
Unlike the gloomy expressions of the passersby around him, Akira was more focused on the new incubation bar that had appeared in his mind. What kind of Pokémon would emerge from the Tower of Spirits in Lavender Town? It seemed he would soon find out.
This incubation bar was progressing quickly, which usually indicated that the Pokémon wouldn’t be overly powerful.
But the advantage was that he wouldn’t have to wait too long.
Akira collected his thoughts.
He had reached the highest floor accessible to the public. The floors above were off-limits, as they were inhabited by many dangerous Ghost-type Pokémon.
But it didn’t matter to him.
In the next instant, he appeared in a tall building.
The place was shrouded in mist, filled with a chilling aura that made one’s neck shrink, eager to leave immediately.
However, it was far inferior to the death Nen in the Hunter world.
The aura here at most made people feel uncomfortable, possibly causing illness upon returning.
Death Nen could truly kill people, whether ordinary individuals or Aura Users.
"Ghee hee hee..."
A Gastly drifted over, intending to scare Akira.
But it was frightened away by Akira’s indifferent gaze. Better run away... It could tell this human was not to be trifled with.
Soon, the incubation bar reached its end.
The figure that appeared was somewhat unexpected to Akira.
It was a Dusknoir.
Dusknoir was mostly black in color, with a ghostly tail and no feet. It had a gray head with a yellow disc-shaped antenna on top.
There was a yellow band.
Below was a glaring eye with a yellow iris and red pupil. Dusknoir had fully formed arms, with two yellow bands on its black wrists.
Akira fell into deep thought. He remembered a legend about Dusknoir related to the so-called Spirit World. Legend said Dusknoir traveled between this world and another.
It used the antenna on its head to receive signals from the Spirit World, guiding people there upon receiving instructions.
It would approach those nearing the end of their lifespan, leading their souls to the afterlife. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
It would swallow prey whole with the mouth on its abdomen, consuming only their souls and spitting out the body when leaving.
It would absorb wandering souls with nowhere to go into its elastic body and take them to another world.
Hence it was also called—the Spirit World Messenger!
Name: Dusknoir
Ability: Pressure
Attribute: Ghost Type
Strength: SS
Moves: Destiny Bond, Shadow Ball, Shadow Punch, Hex...
[Spirit World Messenger]: As a Spirit World Messenger, Dusknoir can open passages to the Spirit World and travel freely between them.
[Lifespan Judgment]: Dusknoir possesses the ability to judge the lifespan of living beings, able to see how much life they have remaining.
[Soul Control]: Dusknoir can attack the souls of creatures and even control their souls.
After reading Dusknoir’s abilities, Akira finally realized its formidable aspects.
Three special abilities!
This is relatively rare, and a Pokémon that typically possesses three abilities is absolutely extraordinary.
All three abilities are useful, with none being worthless.
Among them, Akira considered the most powerful ability to be [Spirit World Messenger]. This meant both he and others could now enter the Spirit World.
The Spirit World serves as a habitat for ghosts and Ghost-type spirits, often regarded as the afterlife.
The original work provides limited description of this realm.
It mainly depicts Dusclops as possessing the ability to open the Spirit World.
Dusknoir essentially functions as a gatekeeper, responsible for opening and closing the Spirit World’s entrance.
Such a peculiar place would undoubtedly nurture extraordinary Pokémon.
Therefore, he naturally had to pay a visit.
Meanwhile, Dusknoir’s other two abilities were also quite remarkable. One allowed viewing the remaining lifespan of others, while the other could launch attacks against souls, even enabling soul control.
After pondering for a moment, Akira waved his hand grandly.
Dusknoir immediately appeared before him, spreading its arms according to Akira’s will. Suddenly, a dark, profound void appeared in the previously empty space.
It rapidly expanded into an opening large enough for two people to pass through, perfectly accommodating Akira’s entry.
Taking a step forward, he crossed through.
Akira, Dusknoir, and even the portal vanished completely.
The Gastly that had just scurried away witnessed everything, its pale white eyes bulging with astonishment.
How did this person get sucked into a suddenly appearing hole?
And where does that hole lead?
It sensed that place would offer significant benefits to itself.
This was the Spirit World’s attraction to Ghost-type Pokémon!
