How To End This Marriage-Chapter 95: Centurian Enigma
"Take the crown prince inside!" the emperor ordered. As Maximus started walking with Princess Sylvia, the guards stopped her. "You cannot go inside," they said.
"Why? Why can’t I go inside? I’m the guest of the crown prince," Sylvia demanded.
"We are ordered not to take you inside," the guards reiterated.
"So, this empire doesn’t even know the slightest etiquette of how to treat a guest, let alone a guest from another empire?" she asked with a sigh.
"As I said, we are not permitted to take you inside, so stop putting on an act and back off unless we have to take strict actions," the guards warned. Even the crown prince had no energy to put up a fight to stop this from happening.
"Take her to the room. I will meet her there," the emperor sent a message to the guards, pushing Sylvia toward a room in a corner of the palace.
"As you say, your majesty," they responded and pushed her toward the room, which was already in a quiet place. The guards were not treating her fairly but like a criminal. They kept pushing her from behind, making her stumble repeatedly.
"I’m walking. Can you stop with this behavior?" she growled.
"We are doing the right thing. We would treat even worse than our enemies, so you are in a good position," the guards mocked.
"Is this what I get for saving your prince?" she asked.
"He went to the place for you, so whether you saved the prince or not doesn’t matter. You are the one at fault, and everyone knows it. Now go inside and rot there," they pushed her into the room and locked her from the outside. The place was too narrow, barely enough for one person with no windows.
"Open the bloody door, or the consequences won’t be good," she shouted, but her voice didn’t reach anyone. Suddenly, she felt as if the place had connected to something else, like an outer space.
"Something has changed!" she muttered. As she muttered, she heard a voice, "Is someone else here? If yes, please answer me!" It was none other than Bernice. She had no idea how the place, which looked so small from the outside, had so much space, and someone else was inside screaming for help.
"Hey, I’m here. I can help you out. Who are you? Tell me!" Sylvia asked.
"It’s the North Duchess Bernice. I’ve been locked here for several days. I don’t know how to get out. I’m not locked, but something shiny is keeping me inside from going outside," Bernice said.
"Can you see what is around you?" Sylvia asked.
"No, it’s dark. I can’t even see where I am. I can only see my surroundings when a person enters this room," she replied.
"Who? Who came to see you? Is it the emperor?" Sylvia inquired.
"No, it’s not the emperor. I’m not sure if I should believe the person or not, but the person claimed he is the supreme almighty god. He is referring to me as if I’m imitating someone. I have no idea why."
"Do you know? Is there any possibility that the supreme god really can show himself to normal people?" Bernice asked.
"Duchess, I have no idea what you are saying or trying to explain, but this is not the time to dwell on this. We have to get out of this. The entire place is in chaos searching for you," Sylvia said.
"Who? I mean, what are you saying? The emperor must be happy locking me here. He is the one who did this, sending his people to lock me up in the old prison, but one day I find myself here. So how would the place be in chaos?" Bernice still spoke in anger.
"Duchess, as I said, the palace is in chaos for many reasons. And so many things have happened. You have to appear in public no matter what," Sylvia said.
"Are you trying to break something?" Bernice asked.
"Yeah, I have to break this god damn wall so that I can reach you," Sylvia said and repeatedly started hitting the wall she thought was separating them.
"Who else is here? Come out!!!" she shouted again, demanding the name.
"Yeah, it is his voice. He’s the one who locked me here. I don’t think he’ll be willing to come out in front of you, but he’s the one who’s making me stop," Bernice said. Sylvia didn’t stop but continued hitting the wall continuously, making the bricks of the wall weaken a little.
"Keep laughing!!! Once I have reached here, I will take her out of this place," she said and continued hitting the wall. Her hands almost started bleeding from hitting the bricks nonstop, but she didn’t realize it in the dark. She could feel the pain but not the blood.
"Little bit more!!! Then I will be on the other side," she muttered, and her last punch broke the wall, making the bricks fall to the ground in pieces, allowing her to step to the other side.
"Duchess, I’m here!" she said, but she was shocked to find Bernice kept inside hundreds of enchanted circles, which she had only heard about but never seen.
"How on earth is this happening?" she asked in shock.
"What is it? You can see me? You are on this side? But I couldn’t see you," Bernice confessed.
"Duchess, what do you think about your situation? How many circles are around you?" she asked.
"Two or three. Why? Is there any problem?" Bernice asked.
"Duchess, you are inside the Centurian Enigma!" her voice was serious as if the enchanted circle is the most dangerous circle in the entire world.
"Centurian Enigma? What is that?" Bernice seems to not know.
"Duchess, you are circled around hundreds of enchanted circles. Each circle has a different motive to work. The first circle, the Primordial Nexus, is where the magic converges itself. The first step itself is enough to keep your whereabouts hidden as no one can detect your mana this way," she explained.
"Mana? I have mana?" Bernice asked.
"Yes, otherwise, you would have crossed the first circle already," Sylvia explained.
"The second circle of the Centurian Enigma is called Lunar Embrace," Sylvia stated.
"It deduces the connection between the moon and you. I have no idea what kind of connection you have with the Lunar god, but the second circle is stopping you from doing so," she said.
"Is this why I’m no longer able to get a connection with the celestial gods anymore?" Bernice muttered.
"The third circle of the Centurian Enigma is called Aqua Arcanum," Sylvia stated again.
"It symbolizes the element of water and its mystical properties. I once again have no idea how mystical properties are related to you when you are just a princess of this empire. You never cultivated. But it stops you from doing that as well," she said while the voice growled.
"How can a mere tribal princess know about the Centurian Enigma?" he asked.
"I may be from a small tribal empire, but I belong to a highly cultivated family. I myself have studied everything that needs to make a circle inside me. I did my cultivation even though I have failed to fulfill it. So don’t think you can do something which I’m not aware of," she said and sat in front of the circle, curling her fingers into a meditative pose.
"You cannot free her," the voice said.
Sylvia didn’t say anything, but her meditation continued. An aura wrapped around her, creating a shield around her that couldn’t be touched by anyone.
"Shield! Are you sure you are a mere princess?" the voice spoke while throwing a lightning strike toward her, but the shield didn’t break; instead, the lightning struck the walls, breaking everything and making the place a mess.
"How dare you!" The supreme god growled and once again tried to attack with the power of fire, but it couldn’t penetrate the shield while her meditation remained intact.
Soon, her eyes opened, and she walked closely toward the circles, but as she tried to touch the circle, she was thrown back.
"Ahhh!" she shouted.
"Lady, what happened to you?" Bernice said in worry.
"I’m okay, Duchess. I’m fine. I was trying to find a way to enter the circle, but I failed. But don’t worry; I will find a way to cross the path and get you out," she said while standing up. The supreme god finally revealed himself, leaving Sylvia shocked for a moment.
"Who are you?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"How can you cut through my powers when no human has the ability to even understand?" he questioned.
"I have no idea what you are saying, but it is from my family," she said.
"No, it couldn’t be. No family has any knowledge about cultivation. If you are from this era, it is not possible. Not a single person in this era could know what the Centurian Enigma is," he stated.
"Who are you? Why do you have the ability you shouldn’t have? How can you create such a shield when a cultivator takes years to make?" His questions have no answers.
