Horror Game Designer-Chapter 487: Guess What is Behind the Door?
Chapter 487: Guess What is Behind the Door?
As someone who worked there, Dong Guo felt fear in her home ground. She stopped hesitating and dragged Gao Ming out of the classroom. Just as she left the classroom, Dong Guo received another message from the control room. Her earpiece suddenly stopped functioning, so she couldn’t get the message.
“I need to crawl further away to get a better signal.” Dong Guo looked back and realised Gao Ming was ambling slowly. He wanted to stay in that classroom. “Why is it so hard to earn money these days?”
Dong Guo felt better after she left the hidden corridor. “You should head to the toilet. Don’t do anything unnecessary. We’re in a dangerous situation. Do you understand?”
“Yes.”
“You say that every time.” The hunting of the visitors had already started on the first floor. If they had gone there now, it would have affected the others. Dong Guo decided to bring Gao Ming to an empty toilet on the second floor. Dong Guo was not familiar with the second floor. For the sake of his safety, she accompanied Gao Ming until they found a toilet meant for medical members in a corner. After removing the sign that said no entry, Dong Guo pointed at the dark toilet, “The question will surface on the mirror. Just answer following your heart.”
“What if my answers are not innocent enough?” Gao Ming really wanted to finish this plot.
“Just do it.” Dong Guo shoved Gao Ming into the toilet. She knew the plot. It didn’t matter what Gao Ming answered; he would be scared regardless. After she closed the toilet door, Dong Guo climbed up from the ground. She whispered into the earpiece. “The visitor is in the second-floor toilet… What? The actor is in the first-floor toilet?! Then, get him to come here!”
Bugs crawled through the tapes that sealed up the window. The floor was wet. The room was filled with the stench of mould. The rusted faucet was not screwed tight. The water that leaked out was murky and slightly bloody.
The toilet was unisexual. There were four individual booths. The booths were separated by old wooden boards. The boards were painted with strange things. There were devils with open eyes and slashing claws. Standing there was terrifying, much less moving over to the mirror to complete the mission.
“This is so realistic. It’s like this place is really haunted.”
After he entered the toilet, Gao Ming felt that this place was different from the other rooms. His heart started to race like he was being watched. Different from the other gazes, the gaze on him radiated chill like it wanted to drag him back into the nightmare.
“There’s something with the boss of this place.”
Gao Ming went to the first sink and wiped away the mist on the mirror. He waited quietly, but the question didn’t surface even after a minute.
There was a slight click. The axle of one of the booths moved. Gao Ming turned around. At that moment, he felt a tap on his shoulder.
“Who is it?” Gao Ming didn’t hear breathing or walking. He was certain that there was no one else but him inside the toilet. Gao Ming stared back at the mirror. He realised his reflection was smiling at him. The expression was creepy and scary, like a twisted murderer.
“How did they do this?” Gao Ming didn’t panic as he reached out his hand to touch the mirror. “There was indeed another version of me in the nightmare. He is just like this. He kept murdering and killing. He is crazy, sick and destructive. He is also me.”
Gao Ming’s reflection didn’t say anything, but Gao Ming had already accepted everything.
His reflection looked rather disappointed since Gao Ming didn’t scream in fear. The reflection said mysteriously, “I do not exist. I am merely a reflection of your heart. I…”
“You are real. You are me. There are endless versions of me in this world. All of them are me.” Gao Ming seriously retorted his reflection.
His reflection laughed drily. “I’ll ask you three questions. If you can answer all of them, I’ll give you a present.”
“Ask away.” ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
“In your eyes, what is fear? Are you willing to sink into fear for others?”
“I am.” Gao Ming nodded without hesitation. “For me, fear is a nutrient. After swallowing it, the feeling is indescribable. It is better than joy and happiness.”
Gao Ming’s reflection froze. It was like a robot searching for an answer. “Second question: are you willing to sacrifice yourself to save all the patients outside? Actually, all the patients are the director’s adopted children. The lives of the thirty children, including yours, are planned by the director. The joy, love and despair are all scripts. The director controls your fates to cultivate the most despairing child to grow up and become the new owner of the black box.” Gao Ming’s reflection bled as wounds appeared on his body. “There can only be one black box owner. Can you tell me now, are you willing to shoulder all the despair to save the other children?”
“31 students whose fates are controlled?” Gao Ming mumbled to himself. He was really into this role. “Taking on the despair alone is not right. Perhaps there is a better way. However, I am not against saving the innocent.” Gao Ming nodded again.
“Very good. Third question.” Gao Ming’s reflection started to shift and stopped looking like Gao Ming, “The black box is filled with the city’s despair. To select the new owner, the director sacrificed a lot of innocent people to have them supply the despair. You need to sacrifice a lot more people, including yourself, to save the whole city. Do you agree?”
“I can only decide my fate, not the others.” Gao Ming didn’t answer the third question. He stared at his reflection’s mouth. The shape didn’t match the words. He grabbed the rim of the mirror and yanked it off the wall. s̩
If someone in the control room saw this, they’d send someone to stop him. However, nothing like that happened.
Staring at the frayed wires, Gao Ming’s expression finally changed. The voice didn’t come from the mirror.
“The girl who likes to crawl around mentioned that the question will surface in the mirror. There shouldn’t be a quiz, so who has been questioning me?” Gao Ming waved at the camera. There was no response. He turned around to stare at the four booths.
“Since you’re unwilling to answer directly, let me change to another question.” The voice echoed in the dark. “There is a door before you. Guess what is behind it.”
The few questions didn’t seem to be arranged by the haunted house. It sounded more like a mad person mocking Gao Ming. Gao Ming narrowed his eyes.
“This is not a worker here. Is this the target of my interview?”
