Holy Necromancer: Rebirth of the Strongest Mage-Chapter 1114: Of all times
"But, young master...!" The guard was visibly flustered. "Lord Chronos has always avoided such engagements. It... it goes against his usual practices. Are you sure about this?"
Karyk waved a dismissive hand. "Times change, don't they? Besides, I'm not my father. I have my own reasons for accepting. Consider it a scouting mission for what's to come."
He didn't elaborate further, leaving the guard to ponder in his confusion. Karyk had already begun to formulate a plan. As he had already learned that there was no Aether, he could finally shift his focus to himself.
The Royal Capital was the core of the universe, a place where information flowed freely. It was also the place where the true authority was held. And if it was a banquet, that meant others from the rest of the great families associated with the Royals would also be coming.
If he was to represent the Time Lord, no matter what happened there, the blame would only fall on the Ancient Lords. He might even be able to start a war between the two power centers.
The banquet invitation felt like a perfect opportunity in his eyes, especially when his father and the other ancient lords were immersed in their own meeting related to Aether. They didn't have any time to spare since they couldn't even be contacted.
"I will make the preparation." The Guard eventually nodded, having no authority to resist any further. A reply to the invitation was sent to the Royal Family, confirming their acceptance.
The confirmation even surprised the Royal Family itself, who had sent the invitation. Even they didn't expect the invitation to be accepted, despite sending it.
"Are you sure the one attending would be Chronos?" In a grand palace, a woman was sitting on a throne. Before her, there were three people on their knees, having their heads down. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"That is the confirmation we received. They would arrive one day before the banquet, which means tomorrow..." The old man on his knees answered, without raising his head.
The woman on the throne frowned, rubbing her forehead. Even though it was a good news that the invitation was accepted, but it still felt so surreal that she found it suspicious.
"What about the other families?" she asked.
"The other families have also accepted the invitation. But there is one problem."
"What problem?"
"Amongst the other Ancient Families, only the Angels have accepted the invitation. But they have a conflict with the Drike Family. So..." The man seemed a little hesitant, since another ancient family had accepted their invitation.
"They want to use my city to settle the scores. Do they think I can't understand their goal? The only one I truly don't understand is the son of the Time Lord..."
The woman dismissed the people, telling them to make adequate preparations, keeping every possible situation in mind.
....
Within the next twenty four hours, the Royal City was turned into a fortress. The preparations were made on war footing. Many treasures were utilised, including ones that could weaken every outsider in the city, if needed.
The Royal Family was going farther in their preparations than they had ever gone, since two ancient families were sending their representatives.
The grand celestial city was also decorated to accept the guest, and to show its grandeur before those that were to arrive.
The people that lived in the city were awestruck by the preparation. Some even found it hard to recognize their city.
There was still a day left in the birthday of the youngest child of the Emperor, but the guests had already started arriving. Almost all the families that accepted the authority of the Emperor were attending the event.
Every family that was arriving in the Royal City after passing through the various checkpoints around the galaxy, was led to the palaces that were assigned for them to rest.
At the checkpoints, the guards entered their battleships to check everything inside, but the guests couldn't even raise their voices. They even allowed their storage rings to be checked, maintaining a smile throughout this time.
Only a few families were exempt from checking their personal storage. They were the strongest families that served the Emperor, being called the Ducal Families in the Empire, comparable to the Ancient Lords to some extent.
There were ten such families, but only two of them had arrived at Alpha Class Battleship, of which only a few were in existence. One such family was the Drike Family, who had sent Karyk to the battlefield.
They were also the last to arrive, amongst the Ducal Families. Their Grand Battleship was guided straight to the World ruled by the Royal Family, and they were allowed to land right outside the Royal City, a privilege that smaller families didn't have.
The door of the battleship opened, and the Drike Family patriarch stepped out, his hand around his wife's waist. He was followed by his daughter, and his son. And in the back, was his brother who was also the General of the Drike Family's personal army.
The Drike Family Head looked at the second Alpha Class Battleship, which was not far from his own. It didn't have the symbol of the Royal Family, but of the other Ducal Family.
"Have all the guests arrived?" he asked the Royal Minister, present to guide him inside the city.
"Most of them have arrived. Only a few guests are yet to reach." The Minister gracefully answered as he started guiding the family. However, just as he had taken a step, he came to a sudden stop as a voice echoed in his head.
It was a voice that had appeared in the heads of every Royal Guard, alerting them to be prepared as a very particular guest was arriving.
The Minister raised his head towards the sky, and watched another Alpha Class Battleship descend.
"He just had to arrive now, out of all time!" he mumbled under his breath, watching the grand battleship land near the Royal City, taking space equal to an entire continent like the other Alpha Class battleships.
