Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen-Chapter 654: Differences
In the next almost ten minutes, neither of them spoke another word.
Erin Ginger glanced around at both Erin Ginger and Edward Stephens, then went over obediently and sat down next to Daisy Ginger.
He was a smart little child, and although he didn’t quite understand what his mom and dad were discussing, he knew it wasn’t his time to speak up.
Edward Stephens leaned against the wall, closing his eyes briefly, his complexion as pale as the wallpaper behind him, exuding a chill of serious illness.
After a long while, he slowly opened his eyes, his dark eyes landing on Daisy Ginger, who was not far off, her eyes lowered and her expression calm. He spoke gently, "I did all this not to separate us, Daisy."
His voice carried a hint of hollow coolness.
Daisy Ginger’s words saddened him.
Daisy Ginger looked up at him, "Did you consider my feelings while doing all this?"
"..."
"Even a hint would have been enough." Daisy shook her head, smiling painfully, "Do you know? Being by your side made me feel like a fool. Do you know how much I suffered? When I found out you lost your memory? Do you know how much effort it took for me to choose to let go?"
"..."
"I struggled to let go, and then you came and told me that all these years, it was just your plan alone? Does that make you feel grand, smart, profoundly romantic?" Daisy looked up at the ceiling, smiled, "The more I stay with you all, the more I feel like an idiot. Being played around. You set such an elaborate trap, deceiving me like this, surely you don’t still expect a duped person like me to put on a show for you?"
Edward Stephens sat quietly by the bedside, listening to her till she finished.
Between people, there’s never a way to truly understand each other.
Even though he and Daisy were once deeply connected.
He lowered his tired eyes and said softly, "I never took you as a fool, Daisy."
"I wanted to be with you, give you a future, hope that one day no one will meddle in our lives."
"But I am too incompetent."
"I’m useless, and I nearly got you killed."
"That was the only thing I could do for us. Every day apart, I was missing you, it was because of you that I held on all these years."
"Now that everything is over, you choose to leave me, isn’t that too cruel to me?"
Daisy’s eyes turned slightly red, she tilted her head back, holding back her tears.
She still loved him; if she didn’t, she wouldn’t have this resentment, but the trust was gone.
She had once decided to let go, and now she lacked the courage to rekindle the feelings she had let go.
She knew that even if she chose to be with him now, every single moment would be a painful torment.
A relationship without trust is like a castle in the air, no matter how happy and perfect it seems, a small storm would easily topple it.
"I didn’t say you were wrong." She took a light breath, held back her tears, and looked down at him, "You’re someone who can achieve great things, accomplishing everything you set your mind to, maybe in your eyes, deceiving me was the best choice. But I’m different, I’m just a small person, an ordinary person, being with you makes me worried that someday, in the name of our good, you might do something beyond my limits again."
