Chapter 502: The messenger

Massimo was still speechless watching his men beat Darius who was already covered in blood mercilessly, even though Darius could not stand up, Massimo had not stopped his men’s actions.

Yesterday afternoon Martin received information that Darius was on his way to Los Angeles from one of his subordinates who managed to find Darius’s whereabouts in Barcelona, after receiving this information Martin rushed to order the rest of his men to be on guard at the airport. So that an hour ago when Darius came out of the airport they immediately arrested him and brought him home to Massimo who had deliberately emptied his schedule for today specifically to welcome the return of the traitor who returned.

"Cough..."

Darius who was already battered spit out fresh blood from his mouth when a hard kick from one of his comrades landed on his chest, suddenly the four big men stopped their actions and gave Darius time to spit out his blood.

Seeing one of his best comrades get beaten up in front of his eyes Pablo closed his eyes, trying not to see the gruesome sight. However, because of the moaning sound that escaped Darius’ lips when he received the kicks and punches on his body, Pablo automatically opened his eyes again.

Pablo took a step forward when he saw Darius vomiting blood, but his movement was stopped when he saw the piercing gaze from Martin who had been watching him for a long time. Pablo automatically stopped his intention to help Darius, he backed away and straightened his head again staring intently at Darius who was still holding the small bag attached to his chest. Even though he was repeatedly kicked and punched, Darius still didn’t want to let go of his hug from the small bag. Darius took good care of the bag, as if there was a treasure in it that should not be damaged.

Realizing Darius’s body language, Pablo rushed to run towards Darius who was already covered in blood on the floor, because of Pablo’s very fast movements, Martin and his other men did not manage to stop Pablo’s steps so Pablo managed to hug Darius, becoming a shield for Darius who was no longer alive.

"Stop." Massimo shouted loudly, just as his men almost threw a kick at Pablo for daring to protect Darius.

The four executioners who were ready to execute Pablo stepped back, following their master’s orders.

Massimo pursed his lips at the way Pablo had protected Darius, their friendship was quite a thumbs up but not at times like this.

"Looks like you’d rather die with him than stay loyal to my men, huh?" said Massimo sarcastically.

Pablo shook his head quickly. "No sir, I still want to serve you until I am unable to work."

"If you still want to be by my side then what are you doing right now? You are protecting that traitor, the one who has openly betrayed me," Massimo growled with emotion, his eyes gleaming intently at Darius who was still spitting fresh blood from his mouth.

"Darius didn’t betray you, sir. He’s very loyal to you..."

"Nonsense!! If he’s loyal to me of course he won’t run away from me for more than a month, don’t you know one of the conditions to be my man is to follow all my orders. But look what Darius did a month ago, who knows what he’s been doing during the past month in Barcelona. Can anyone guarantee that he’s not in cahoots with my enemies?"

Pablo couldn’t answer Massimo’s words, what Massimo said was true. Whatever the reason, Darius’s decision was wrong. Not a single bodyguard was allowed to leave without Massimo’s permission, and Darius had already broken that absolute rule.

"So now you better get out of his way, let the others finish their work and we..."

"No sir, you can’t do that to Darius. Darius is one of your most loyal and longest-serving bodyguards." Pablo fearlessly cut off Massimo’s words.

Martin, who didn’t expect Pablo to be so disrespectful, then stepped forward, trying to get closer to Pablo but Massimo’s sudden movement into the air made Martin cancel his intention.

"The length of time he has served me cannot be a guarantee," Massimo said dryly. "Proof he can still break the biggest rules, right?"

"For that Darius is indeed guilty, sir. But I’m sure he must have a good reason behind his actions..."

"No matter how big the reason, he’s still not allowed to leave without my permission!" shouted Massimo loudly, beginning to run out of patience. "The master is me, so he has to follow all my orders. Didn’t you guys know this from the start when you were recruited, huh?"

Pablo’s face was as white as paper, the sound of Massimo’s yelling was loud in his ears. Even though he had lowered his head by now, Pablo was absolutely certain that his master was currently very angry with him who continued to refute his words.

"Now you better leave Darius before..."

"No sir, I beg you to forgive Darius. At least give him a chance to tell him why he left, if Darius really had treasonous intentions he wouldn’t be able to dare to come back to this place. what are the consequences if he comes back after what he’s done, but this time he’s back, sir. I’m sure Darius has a special reason, so I beg you to listen to Darius’ reasons first." Once again, Pablo bravely interrupted Massimo’s words, Pablo was sure that all his questions for the past month were stored in the bag that Darius was currently holding. Knowing Darius so well made Pablo so sure of what he was thinking at the moment.

Massimo clenched his jaw, seeing Pablo’s real rebellion blatantly unfold in front of his eyes like this made him unable to hold back any longer. With his fists tightly clenched Massimo said, "Looks like you’re really not afraid of death, Pablo. Well then just die with your friend, it’s very easy for me to find a replacement for the two of you."

"M-madam..."

Pablo who was very shocked to hear Massimo’s words immediately turned to Darius who had just spoken in a stuttering voice, although it wasn’t very clear, Pablo was sure that he heard Darius speak.

"What Darius? What are you talking about? What happened to the madam?"

Massimo frowned at Pablo’s words, for a moment he was amazed and praised Pablo’s courage to ignore him but it didn’t last long because Massimo’s anger returned.

Martin who could read Massimo’s anger then took action, Mastin silently gave a code to his men to immediately get rid of the two traitors from before them. And lucky Pablo saw the code that Martin gave to his men, Pablo quickly put his ear to Darius who was muttering incoherently.

"What Darius, what are you talking about? Tell me quickly, what have you found in Barcelona during this one month? Did you manage to get the answer to your curiosity?" Pablo who immediately bombarded Darius with several questions at once.

Darius, who was barely conscious, gave Pablo a smile, his eyes twinkling as if he was answering question after question that Pablo had previously given him. Pablo, who didn’t understand the code Darius gave him, started to panic when he heard the steps of several other bodyguards getting closer to his collar.

"Darius, please speak, what have you found in Barcelona? Did you find what you were looking for?" Pablo again asked Darius a question and this time it was more specific.

"A..as I thought, Pablo," Darius answered in a barely audible voice, the next second Darius was unconscious.

Pablo, who didn’t fully understand what Darius meant, looked panicked when he saw Darius was unconscious, he tried to wake Darius who had passed out until finally Pablo saw the bag that Darius had been protecting even though his body was repeatedly hit and kicked.

Without thinking Pablo rushed to grab the bag and see what was in it, Pablo was sure that Darius was hiding something valuable inside. Pablo’s brown irises widened as he looked at the few photos he had managed to pull out of Darius’s small bag, his heart beating ten times faster.

"Wait!" Pablo let out a loud scream just as his comrades were getting ready to throw a raw bombardment at him. "Y-you can do anything to me and Darius, but before that please take a look at this photo Darius has brought, sir." Pablo’s hands trembled as he lifted the few photos in his hands into the air.

"There’s nothing else I need to see and I..."

Massimo’s words stopped when he saw Pablo suddenly point a gun at his own head, Martin immediately gave a code to the rest of his men not to move. Even though Pablo was defending Darius who was branded a traitor, he still wasn’t willing to lose Pablo, considering how much Pablo had done so far.

"I-I’d be happy to take my own life, sir. So you don’t have to bother asking the others to do it, but before that I beg you to take a look at these photos first," said Pablo again with a trembling voice. "Darius has risked his life to get these photos, so for that I beg you to be willing to take a look."

Massimo squinted his eyes at Pablo’s hand which was holding several photos.

"I beg you, sir. Look at these photos first, don’t make your regrets deeper." Pablo spoke again in a barely audible voice with teary eyes, Pablo also realized how loyal Darius was to Massimo.

Since Massimo was still silent, Martin finally made his move. Without a word Martin snatched the pile of photos from Pablo’s hands, for just a quick glance Martin couldn’t tell what was actually in the photo.

Successfully recognizing who the person in the photo was, Massimo’s anger was rekindled, without looking at the next photo Massimo slammed the pile of photos on the table so that the photos suddenly scattered.

"Fuck, what do you mean give me the photo of this traitorous woman, Pablo?" shouted Massimo loudly. "You know that I don’t want to know about her anymore! I think I’ve been too good to you guys." In a swift motion Massimo grabbed his gun from the drawer and pointed it straight at Pablo who was also holding a gun.

The situation was immediately tense, even though he knew Pablo would not be able to dare to point the gun in his hand at Massimo but Martin still felt anxious. Because of that he immediately gave instructions to his men to snatch the gun from Pablo’s hands. But before the bodyguards had time to move, there was an explosion from a gun that had just spewed its hot lead.

Not long after that there was a loud scream from Pablo who was in pain because Massimo’s right hand holding a gun was shot by Massimo, the gun that was previously in Pablo’s grip immediately fell to the floor. Not wanting Pablo to reach for the gun again, Martin moved quickly by grabbing the gun straight from the floor.

"Don’t think I don’t have the heart to kill my own men, Pablo," said Massimo coldly with his hand still pointing the gun at Pablo’s head. "I’m not a kind, forgiving man, I’m sure you know that well."

Pablo who had looked down because of the pain from being shot did not answer Massimo’s words, the hot lead that came out of Massimo’s gun managed to pierce his palm which was now bleeding profusely.

"Get rid of them, Martin. Kill them and..."

"M-madam is pregnant, sir." Suddenly Pablo screamed loudly, he couldn’t hold himself any longer. "L-look at the photos, in the photo it is clear how big Madam’s stomach is now." Pablo’s breaths were shallow as he spoke, enduring both the pain and his immense fear.

Massimo, who didn’t believe Pablo’s words, then glanced at the photos of Gina that were scattered on the table, his eyes widened when he saw one of Gina’s very clear photos. A photo of Gina holding her distended stomach in front of the hospital with Rosa standing beside her.

"No way...
