Chapter 322: Love doesn’t hurt

Massimo stared straight at Gina without saying a word, Julian’s words replaying in his head over and over again. Being asked to let Gina go was the most impossible thing to do, Gina was her life, her spirit. Then how could he have let go of that most important thing?

"I will close this case and not make it public if you want to release my daughter, Massimo," added Julian slowly adding to his previous words.

Massimo slowly turned his head towards Julian who had just finished speaking. "Bringing it to the public?"

"Yes, I’ve prepared everything and I’m sure you won’t like it if this news gets to the public. King Rafael will also be disappointed in you if he finds out that you commit violence like this to a girl who isn’t even twenty years old, even though she is your own wife," said Julian without a pause firmly, this is the first time Julian can speak this firmly to Massimo.

Massimo tilted his head, looking confused at what Julian meant. Julian who could read Massimo’s confusion then turned to Diego who was standing next to Patrick, without further ado Diego took out his smart tablet from the bag that had been on his shoulder and gave it to his stepfather with a small nod.

Julian thinned his lips as he received Diego’s tablet, after activating the tablet Julian then pointed the tablet at Massimo. "You see for yourself."

Expressionlessly Massimo reached for the tablet and looked at the video that Julian had prepared beforehand, his eyes widened when he saw the video that Diego had made. The video shows several video clips ranging from the wedding blessing ceremony with Gina to the scene where they broke into Massimo’s residence to help Gina and Gina’s condition when she was taken to the hospital. Apparently unbeknownst to everyone, Diego used a mini camera to record everything he did at Massimo’s house.

"If this video gets out and reaches King Rafael, I’m sure your reputation will be ruined, Massimo. I know that you’ve been protected by the government all this time, but if this cruel act of yours is leaked to the public, it is certain that the kingdom will withdraw its support for you. The public will scorn you because of this case and all your enemies will surely unite to bring you down," said Julian again calmly, his eyes showing a triumphant smile for being able to make Massimo del Cano shut up. Massimo’s reputation is everything and that’s why Julian uses it to pressure Massimo. "I will immediately delete this video and the master once you agree to release Gina."

Massimo’s hands trembled slightly as he held Diego’s tablet, he couldn’t believe Julian would use such a cunning method after all that his family had done to the Sanders family over the years.

"You don’t have much time, Massimo." Julian warned.

Massimo looked up at Julian, his blue eyes darkening. "How can I be sure that you will delete this video?"

Julian smiled. "The master is on this flash drive."

"Daddy, no! Don’t leave it to him, we can still use it, Daddy," Diego said spontaneously, forbidding Julian to hand over his work to Massimo.

Julian shook his head looking at his stepson with a calm face. "A man can only be considered a real man when he keeps his word, Diego. Be a real man, Diego. Don’t be like this cowardly Daddy for ignoring his promises for nearly nineteen years."

"But Daddy..."

Diego’s words were cut off when his shoulder was touched by Patrick who had always been a good listener. "Follow what your Daddy says, Diego."

"Okay, Uncle," Diego croaked softly, looking annoyed that he had forgotten to make two masters of the masterpiece he made moments ago when Gina was still in the operating room. Diego cursed his stupidity for forgetting to make a copy for himself.

"So how? You agree with my offer?" asked Julian back to Massimo.

"I will not divorce, Gina," said Massimo quietly without changing his angry expression.

Julian smiled. "The divorce issue will be discussed when Gina realizes, which for sure now you should stay away from her, let go of my daughter."

"But I want to talk to Gina..."

"No, you’re not allowed to be near her." Surprisingly Brigitta interrupted Massimo’s words. "Your presence will make her condition worse."

Massimo’s jaw hardened. "But I’m her husband, I have the right to..."

"A husband would never have the heart to hurt his wife and make her so desperate that she finally decided to commit suicide, Massimo." Without fear Brigitta spoke again loudly, startling Patrick and Julian and Diego.

"What happened between me and Gina was just a misunderstanding, we love each other. We even..."

"No Massimo, love doesn’t hurt. If you really loved Gina, then you would never hurt her. Because love doesn’t hurt. Trust me when I say love does not hurt," said Brigitta hoarsely holding back tears, remembering Gina’s sincerity for Massimo. Even though Gina didn’t speak, Brigitta knew that Gina had feelings for Massimo.

Patrick reached his hand around his wife’s waist and hugged her tightly, Patrick knew how sad Brigitta was for the misfortune that had befallen Gina at this time. That’s why he dared to speak mindlessly to Massimo, a dangerous man who could do anything with ease. Including getting them out of Spain.

Julian wiped his tears when he heard the words of Brigitta who dared to oppose Massimo in defense of his daughter. "See, we are here for Gina right now, Massimo. So you better go and don’t come near my daughter again, Gina doesn’t need your presence." Julian’s voice trembled as he spoke.

"Give me some time to think," Massimo asked quietly.

"Okay, you’ve got six hours from now," Patrick replied excitedly. "And as long as you think the video Diego made will be safe with me, you can take my word for it." Patrick took the pendrive from Julian’s hand and the tablet from Massimo’s in a swift motion.

"Can you believe what you said, Patrick Davidson?" asked Martin coldly from behind Massimo.

"Of course, I’m a very personable person. You don’t have to worry." Patrick showed the cross pendant around his neck to Martin with a smile.

Martin nodded his head slowly in response to Patrick’s words, without speaking Martin then approached Massimo and whispered softly to him. Massimo blinked his eyes at Martin’s words.

"Okay, we’ll be back after six hours. Mr. Massimo is willing to consider your offer."

Julian and Patrick smiled simultaneously in response to Martin’s words.

"Ok, please leave now," Diego said harshly, shooting Massimo and his men away without fear.

Martin averted his eyes from Julian and Patrick to Diego, today Diego was really being very presumptuous and Martin was determined to remember all of Diego’s actions today to take revenge in the future. Massimo, who was in a mess didn’t heed Diego’s words, his brain torn in two at the moment between thinking about Julian’s and Patrick’s threats. Massimo who has worked hard to be in his current position would not be willing to ruin his name, but on the other hand, his heart felt heavy when he had to leave Gina. When he was about to walk away, Massimo looked back at Gina, who still had her eyes closed. His chest hurt again when he saw Gina lying on the hospital bed.

"I’m sorry, honey..."
