His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 120: I’m Mute, I Can’t Speak
Being in the same space as Ethan Sinclair, even breathing felt difficult for Kiana Sutton.
She didn’t want to stay here; she could only gesture to Willow, "Let’s go out in a bit, and I’ll buy you another one, alright?"
"But that cake was bought for me by my idol."
Kiana Sutton: "..."
Kiana wasn’t really one for chasing celebrities, she didn’t understand just how much influence an idol could have over a fan, but when she substituted in the person she liked, she nodded in agreement.
Kiana Sutton braced herself and went to have the cake packed.
During that time, Ethan Sinclair’s dark, cold eyes fixed on her, making her feel like there were needles stabbing her back.
Once the cake was packed, Kiana Sutton was about to leave with Willow, but Ethan’s icy, furious voice broke the silence, "Stop!"
Kiana Sutton didn’t want to acknowledge him; she wanted to just leave, but her legs simply would not obey her commands.
"What, you plan to just ignore me, not say a single word to me anymore?"
Whenever Ethan Sinclair spoke, Willow got scared. She clung tightly to Kiana Sutton’s hand, pressing herself even closer.
Kiana Sutton had no idea what Ethan really wanted. Wasn’t it him who never wanted to see her?
So what did it mean that now he insisted on keeping her here?
Seeing that Kiana didn’t respond, Ethan’s anger just burned hotter. "Speak!"
Kiana Sutton took a deep breath, turned around to look at Ethan coldly, and signed with her hand, "I’m mute; I can’t talk!"
Ethan Sinclair: "..."
Very good, she dared to challenge him now!
But this was also the first time Kiana had ever snapped back at him. This damn woman, her guts just kept growing bigger.
He stopped looking at Kiana and fixed his gaze on Willow instead. "You like Julian Garrison?"
Every time Willow met Ethan Sinclair, he always looked icy and hard to approach.
All she knew was that Ethan was Kiana Sutton’s boss; she had no idea the two were married.
She was afraid if she upset Ethan, he’d fire Kiana, so she nodded obediently.
"I’m good friends with him. I know a ton about him, even know where he lives."
Willow was full of question marks.
Ethan Sinclair smirked, continuing to tempt her, "Isn’t it his birthday next month? Don’t you want to go to his birthday party? I can help you with that."
Kiana Sutton could clearly see Willow’s big round eyes light up instantly.
From Kiana’s perspective, these two looked just like the Big Bad Wolf luring Little Red Riding Hood—one was as pure as a blank sheet, the other scheming with a stomach full of tricks.
Sure enough, Willow looked at Kiana with hopeful, pleading eyes, "Kiana... I think I’m still hungry, maybe we can sit down and eat a little more, okay?"
Kiana Sutton had just barely managed to work up the nerve to stand up to Ethan, and hadn’t expected her resolve to crumble so soon—all because of Willow’s plea.
Ethan Sinclair really did know where to hit hardest; his grip on Willow was dead on.
Besides, how could a little kid have any bad motives?
She just wanted to go celebrate her idol’s birthday.
Discomfort clogged up in Kiana’s chest—she couldn’t go, but she couldn’t not go either.
"Kiana..."
Willow tugged on Kiana’s hand, begging softly, looking all aggrieved and pitiful.
Kiana Sutton let out a long, deep sigh—fine, today was Willow’s birthday, she was the queen, whatever she said went.
Besides, she really wanted to know—if Ethan was so set on keeping her here, what was it that he wanted to say?
So, the three of them ended up back together again, only now one of them was Ethan Sinclair instead.
Ethan Sinclair watched Kiana serving Willow dishes, his gaze softening ever so slightly, almost imperceptibly.
If Kiana ever had a child, she’d definitely be a doting, spoiling mom.
If it was a girl, she’d probably look just like Kiana—adorable, sweet, gentle, and pretty.
If it was a boy, then...
Ethan Sinclair swore under his breath. Damn it, was he out of his mind?
How could he even imagine having a child with Kiana Sutton.
Something clicked in his mind, making his expression shutter. He looked at Kiana and asked blandly, "Have you been taking your medicine lately?"
What medicine?
Kiana paled, looking at Ethan with confusion in her eyes.
For some reason, Ethan suddenly felt a twinge of guilt. When people feel guilty, they just can’t help but raise their voice, "The medicine I told you to take—what do you think I mean!"
From the way Ethan looked, Kiana could tell he wasn’t worried about her well-being, so...
She seemed to realize something in an instant, her face turning even whiter at the realization—he was interrogating her about whether she was still taking birth control.
Piercing pain shot through her chest. She let out a bitter inner laugh.
What, was he afraid she’d get pregnant and use their child to force him never to divorce her?
"Relax, I know you don’t want me to have your child—I always take the pills."
On hearing that, Ethan’s face darkened instantly. So angry he almost laughed, "Really? You’re so damn obedient!"
Ethan Sinclair’s frustration was off the charts. This woman kept saying she loved him, but when it came to taking birth control, she didn’t hesitate for a second.
Kiana spotted the stormy, ugly look on his face and for a moment, really could not figure out what he wanted from her.
If she disobeyed, he was angry.
If she obeyed, he was still angry.
What the hell did he want?
Ethan Sinclair himself didn’t even know—right now he was just one word: annoyed.
"You’re taking all those birth control pills—you’re not scared you won’t be able to get pregnant in the future?"
Kiana looked at Ethan in surprise—she never expected him to care about her health at all.
Heh...
He was the one who told her to take them, and now he’d turn around and say this—wasn’t that just about as fake as you could get?
Realizing he’d asked something he shouldn’t have, Ethan cut her off coldly: "No need to answer. I have zero interest in anything about your future."
Kiana had never thought of answering him anyway. She couldn’t even get through her present, her future never even crossed her mind.
As for having a child—even if it wasn’t his, she didn’t want one, period.
Not long after, Joy Morgan texted: "Sweetie, I need to work overtime. I can’t be with you and Willow tonight. Can you please take Willow back to my place for me?"
"Okay."
After Joy sent her the address, Kiana took Willow and left. This time, Ethan Sinclair didn’t stop her.
In the car, Kiana’s mood hit rock bottom. So that was it—Ethan threatened and coaxed Willow to make her stay here, just so he could make sure she was on birth control.
Heh... He was really guarding himself against her at every turn!
When they got to Joy Morgan’s place, after Willow knocked, a middle-aged woman opened the door.
The moment she saw Kiana, her expression soured to the extreme, her eyes even flashing with hostility.
Kiana froze for a moment, and the next second, saw the woman pull Willow inside.
"Grandma, you’re hurting my hand!"
Kiana had just lifted her hand to sign when the door slammed shut, hard, in her face.
Kiana stood there dumbfounded for a long moment. What just happened?
Did Joy’s mom not like her?
