Chapter 89: Hit Me Again

Blazren frowned, narrowing his eyes.

"Round two, is it, young boy?"

He clenched his right fist, fire swirling wildly around it.

"If you can take this and survive... you win."

Zain wiped the blood off his chin with the back of his hand.

He smirked.

"Come on, old man. Hit me again."

Savra stood up straight on the side.

Her arms tightened across her chest.

"What the hell are you doing, Zain?" she muttered.

"You’re barely standing..."

She didn’t understand it.

Zain wasn’t dodging.

He wasn’t blocking.

And yet, something about him felt... sharper.

Blazren let out a growl.

"Don’t blame me if you can’t get up after this!"

He rushed forward.

His flame-coated right fist grew even larger and hotter.

He roared as he threw the punch straight into Zain’s chest again.

BOOM!

The ground cracked under Zain’s feet from the impact.

His whole body shook.

Blood splattered from his mouth.

His skin burned and his coat tore, but—

He didn’t fall.

He held on.

His boots scraped the floor, but he stayed upright.

Blazren blinked in shock. "You actually... took that?"

Zain’s arms trembled, but he lifted his head slowly.

"I told you... this is round two."

Blazren stepped back, surprised.

"Good job holding on. But can you do anything else?"

Zain’s smirk widened.

"Yeah. It’s payback time."

He pulled back his arm.

For a second, everything around him went silent.

Then—

BAM!

He punched Blazren square in the chest.

It wasn’t flashy. It wasn’t glowing.

But the force behind it—

CRACK!

Blazren was launched backward like a cannonball.

He flew across the chamber and slammed into the wall, hard.

The metal cracked behind him as sparks flew.

He hit the ground, coughing some blood.

Blazren groaned and pushed himself up, wincing.

"What... the hell... was that punch?"

He wasn’t seriously injured—but he was injured.

And shocked.

Zain stood still for a moment, swaying slightly.

His breathing got heavier, knees starting to buckle.

Savra’s eyes widened. "Zain...?"

He looked toward the ceiling.

Laughed weakly, and gave one last smirk.

Then his body gave out.

He dropped to his knees—and collapsed.

Blazren looked over at his fallen opponent, still stunned.

"That kid... He’s insane."

Savra rushed to his side.

"Zain!"

She ran over, kneeling beside him.

He was unconscious but breathing.

Blazren wiped his mouth.

"He passed out. But... damn."

He stood fully, cracking his back.

"That last punch... was real."

Savra looked down at Zain, whispering.

"You crazy idiot... You actually did it."

She stood up slowly and looked at Blazren.

"Well?"

Blazren nodded, rubbing his ribs. novelbuddy.cσ๓

"He passed."

Savra smiled faintly.

"He’s A-Rank now."

---

Zain’s eyes opened slowly.

The ceiling was unfamiliar.

He blinked a few times, then turned his head.

The hotel room.

He recognized the curved windows, the polished furniture.

Savra must’ve brought him back.

He sat up, groaning a little.

His ribs still ached, but... not as much as before.

Actually, not much at all.

He raised his right hand, flexing his fingers slowly.

"No damage," he muttered.

Then he looked at his chest, pulling down his shirt slightly.

Where Blazren had punched him full force.

Nothing but faint red skin.

His muscles felt tighter. His breath, smoother. His bones... denser.

A grin crept across his face. "So it is working."

He stood up, walked over to the mirror, and looked at his reflection.

He wasn’t just imagining it.

His posture had changed.

His build was leaner but packed with power.

Savra didn’t know. No one did.

That ability he awakened...

It wasn’t just some beast-shift or elemental body.

It was something more.

When he had activated that transformation, something strange surged through his body.

A force. Not like energy or fire.

It felt like Qi but sharper, deeper, and more devastating.

And yet... calm. Almost alive.

He sat cross-legged on the floor and focused.

"Let’s see if I can still tap into it..."

He tried to reach deep inside himself.

Trying to call that power back.

But nothing came.

His chest stayed still.

No hum. No burn. No energy flow.

Zain exhaled, opening his eyes.

"...I can’t feel it," he muttered.

"That energy... it’s gone."

He frowned, flexing his hand again.

"It only appears when I transform."

"So that’s the condition. No transformation, no access."

But he didn’t look upset.

In fact, he smirked.

Because he had managed to use it.

His mind went back to yesterday.

Blazren’s fists slamming into him over and over.

That feeling of being thrown around like a ragdoll.

Bones cracking. Muscles tearing.

It wasn’t for nothing.

Zain leaned back against the bed and chuckled.

"To cultivate the Heavenly Demon Body..."

"For the foundation stage, I need damage. Pressure. Near collapse."

He glanced down at his own torso, now completely healed.

"And then... it needs to be rebuilt."

"Refined. Reforged by the Demonic Qi."

He stared at his hands, curling them slowly into fists.

"If I followed the normal route, I’d still be at the beginning."

"But I used that strange energy to force cultivation."

He stood, cracking his neck.

"Even if I can’t summon it right now, my body’s changed."

"My structure’s tougher. Stronger. It’s already in motion."

"I took a beating to push through and become stronger."

He folded his arms, gaze lingering on the BB-1 skyline.

"This world’s becoming even more interesting now..."

Just then, the hotel room door slid open.

Savra stepped in, arms crossed.

"You’re awake."

Zain turned slightly. "Yeah."

She walked over, glancing him up and down.

Zain tilted his head. "So? Did I pass?"

Savra scoffed, then smirked. "Of course you did."

She leaned in slightly to meet his eyes.

"You managed to injure Blazren," she said with emphasis.

"That alone’s more than enough."

Zain grinned faintly. "I see."

Then her tone shifted, serious now.

"But what the hell was that transformation?"

"Why did you let him hit you over and over?"

"You looked like you were asking for it."

Zain scratched the back of his head.

"It’s... hard to explain."

She raised an eyebrow.

He shrugged.

"Let’s just call it Angelic Demon Shift."

"It gives me power and a healing ability."

"So I wanted to test it."

He pointed to himself.

"Now look at me. No broken bones, no burns."

"Fully healed."

"And that last punch I gave him? That’s what the ability can do."

Savra blinked. Then laughed.

"So that’s why you stood there like an idiot."

"I thought you were just a masochist."

Zain smirked. "Only if it helps me win."
