Her Rebirth.-Chapter 99
Chapter 99: Chapter 99
Kai let out a short laugh and then said, "What gain is there if I kill myself? Besides, I do not know what heirloom you are talking about."
Song Ren’s face contorted in rage. "If I let you live, am I not foolish? Don’t fool me, kid. I know Song Yue gave you the family heirloom."
Kai gave him a puzzled look. "Really? He didn’t. I have no idea what you are talking about."
Song Ren gritted his teeth. Kai looked like he really didn’t know what the heirloom was. But Song Yue had said he gave it to Kai. So who was fooling him? If only he knew what it looked like, it would have been much easier.
Meanwhile, on the far side of the mansion, Shen Xue and the Hei Long men moved like shadows.
Earlier, Kai had told Shen Xue about the tunnel system buried beneath the Song mansion, a secret Song Yue had once revealed to him in case something unexpected and life-threatening happened. Standing at the entrance of the tunnel were two armed guards. Shen Xue gave a hand signal, and two of his men crept ahead, swiftly and quietly neutralizing the two guards standing watch.
Shen Xue crouched low as he led his men through the underground tunnel. The air was damp as they navigated the narrow passageways in silence, every step crunching quietly on the stone and dust beneath them.
Shen Xue then emerged from the tunnel’s concealed door behind a tall bookshelf in the study.

Song Ren had lost the last sliver of patience, and he could feel his blood boil, hotter than ever before due to frustration, annoyance, and anger.
"I’ve had enough of your games," he snarled, pressing the muzzle of his gun directly to Amelia’s head. "If I can’t get the heirloom, at least I’ll destroy what you care about most."
Amelia’s body stiffened. Though her expression remained composed, a slight flicker of fear flashed through her eyes, and Kai saw it.
"Kai, don’t..." But before she could continue her sentence, Song Ren slammed the muzzle of the gun against her temple.
"Shut up, bitch. You weren’t spoken to."
Kai’s breath paused for just a moment, and his heart hammered violently in his chest. He had a strong urge to rush up to Song Ren, grab him, slam his head against the wall, and load a thousand bullets into his body, but his reasoning managed to stop him.
Not yet.
So instead, the smile on his lips grew wider, his fingers twitching because about now—
A new voice echoed from behind.
"I wouldn’t do that if I were you."
Song Ren froze.
Shen Xue walked in, his gun aimed squarely at Song Ren’s head. Behind him, another Hei Long member stepped forward, dragging Yoo Hwa with him. A pistol was pressed firmly to her head, her terrified expression twisting in horror.
"Song Ren, save me!" she screamed in fear.
"Try shooting," Shen Xue said coldly, "and your wife dies before you even get to blink."
The air went still as the room fell into heavy silence, thick with tension.
Song Ren’s hand trembled slightly as he glanced between Amelia and Yoo Hwa. Beads of sweat began to form on his brow. He had never fully trusted that Kai would come alone, so he had placed guards to secure every area, including the underground tunnel, and alert him of any intruders. But he hadn’t heard anything. That meant that the people with Kai were undoubtedly strong.
But still... He had gone this far. Could he back out now?
Kai stepped forward slowly, his voice icy. "Let her go, Song Ren. This ends now."
Song Ren’s jaw clenched. He was afraid, yes, but he didn’t move. Instead, his finger quickly moved, wanting to press the trigger. Then—
Bang!
"Aggghh!" Song Ren screamed, staggering back and clutching his hand as blood gushed between his fingers. The gun clattered to the floor. Shen Xue had shot it just before he could press the trigger.
Before he could recover, Kai was already on him. He grabbed him and threw a heavy punch to his face, the sheer force of the blow snapping his head to the side. Song Ren stumbled, barely catching himself on a chair, only to be struck again, this time in the gut. The breath whooshed out of his lungs, and he collapsed to one knee, gasping.
"This is for even thinking about hurting her," Kai growled, his eyes burning with cold fury.
He kicked Song Ren in the ribs, sending him crashing against the wall. Song Ren groaned, trying to reach for his gun, but Kai’s shoe landed hard on his forearm, crushing it against the floor.
He grabbed Song Ren by the collar, yanked him up, and slammed him into the wall. The older man’s head bounced against the wood, and blood trickled down his temple. Desperate and half-dazed, Song Ren swung wildly, but Kai easily dodged it. He caught the arm and twisted it behind his back with a sickening crack, forcing Song Ren to his knees again.
"Pathetic," Kai hissed, yanking him up only to land another vicious punch that broke Song Ren’s nose, his blood spraying across Kai’s shirt. Song Ren slumped forward, wheezing, his face mangled, but Kai didn’t stop. He threw punch after punch after punch. He was losing control of his reasoning, anger taking control of him until he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Enough or you will traumatize your fiancée," Shen Xue spoke.
Kai let go of Song Ren, causing him to slump on the floor and turned towards Amelia, barely registering that the rest of Song Ren’s men had been subdued by Shen Xue and his men.
He rushed to her, immediately untying the rope that bound her, then raised his bloodied hand, cupping her cheeks.
"A—Amelia, are you alright?... He didn’t hurt you, did he?"
Tears welled up in Amelia’s eyes, and they fell slowly.
"I was scared," she whispered. "I was so, so scared, Kai."
Kai pulled her into his embrace, causing her face to rest on his chest as he gently stroked her hair. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"It’s alright, butterfly. You are safe now. He can’t hurt you anymore."
