Her Rebirth.-Chapter 115
Chapter 115: Chapter 115
Lilac set the tray on a nearby table, humming as she straightened the napkins. "I made you a latte. Don’t know why you like it despite it being so bitter. I also brought macarons so you’d take it with it."
"Answer me." Amelia glared at her. "Why am I chained?"
Lilac turned to her with a gentle smile. "Because I didn’t want you to leave."
"Lilac—" Amelia sat up as much as she could, the chains rattling ominously. "This isn’t how you treat someone you want to stay."
Lilac’s smile didn’t fade. "But if I let you go, you won’t stay. I know how far you want to be away from me. But how can I let you do that, my angel...?"
She stepped closer now, her voice softening. "But now, you can’t leave me. Not until you see that we were always meant to be together."
Amelia stared at her for a long, tense moment. "You’re sick."
"I am sick," Lilac agreed, kneeling beside the bed. Her eyes gleamed, not with tears—but with twisted devotion. "Sick with love for you, sister. And I’m tired of pretending. You’ll understand soon. You just need time."
Amelia didn’t flinch. "Do you really think this will end well?"
Lilac blinked slowly, her smile widening in eerie calm. "I don’t care how it ends... as long as we stay together for a little while longer."
And with that, she leaned in, brushing Amelia’s hair gently from her face.
"I’ll be back later. Don’t try to hurt yourself with the chains. I made sure they’re padded."
Then she turned and walked out, locking the door with a soft click behind her.
Amelia sat there, heart pounding, every nerve screaming for escape but her face remained calm.
Her mind was reeling with ways to escape. She couldn’t stay here any longer. It was dangerous, because now she knew. All along, Lilac had been obsessed with owning her. No, not her, but the real Amelia Cosgrove.
Amelia leaned back on the bed, her head resting on the headboard.
There was a probability that Kai had begun to notice she was missing and had started looking for her. She had sent her location to Kai, but what she didn’t know was if Lilac had taken her phone with her or discarded it. Hopefully, she took it with her.
...
Kai stood in the burnt ruins of what still remained of the apartment.
Smoke still lingered in the air like a ghost refusing to leave. He walked slowly through the charred wreckage, his boots crunching ash and debris beneath his feet, with each step raising up dust.
The tracker he had placed on Amelia had led him here, to Lilac’s house.
It only meant one thing: Lilac had probably discovered the ring on Amelia’s finger was a tracker and had disposed of it.
Kai clenched his fist.
He had to find Amelia fast, and when he found her, he was going to break Lilac’s legs and throw her into the sea. He didn’t care if Amelia said he shouldn’t, because he had tolerated Lilac for too long.
Hopefully, Amelia didn’t get hurt before he found her.
There was a faint glint amongst the debris and Kai stopped in his tracks.
Was that...?
Kai knelt, brushing away the soot-covered rubble. There, blackened and cracked but unmistakable, lay Amelia’s ring. The ruby glinted weakly, like a fading heartbeat. Nearby was her phone—it was already a melted, useless husk.
He picked up the ring, his eyes filled with madness that sought to escape.
They had dared to take her.
And for that, they would burn.
---
The door to the room creaked once more and Lilac stepped in with a smile, but her smile soon fell as her gaze landed on the untouched tray.
She frowned. "You didn’t eat."
Amelia met her eyes calmly. "I won’t eat until you let me go."
Lilac’s expression twitched, becoming colder. "But I worked so hard on this. It’s your favorite."
"No." Amelia sneered, her chin raised. "You want to play house, Lilac? Then understand this, hostages don’t eat."
"So you really won’t eat?" freewebnσvel.cѳm
"I won’t."
"Do you really want to go back to them? To Kai, to Ray?" The way Lilac said their names was filled with unrestrained bitterness.
"They are my family, Lilac. Why wouldn’t I want to go back to them?"
"That’s it, Amelia," Lilac snapped. "That’s what always irritates me, you want to be with others, you want to be surrounded by others, but never me. Never me!"
"Is that why you made all my friends go away? Took away those I loved?" Amelia retorted.
"I did say I did all I did to you to gain your attention," Lilac confessed with a deranged laugh. "but it was more about taking their eyes off you. It felt so irritating seeing them look at you with such disgusting eyes. Do you know how I felt when I heard you were getting engaged to Ace? Do you know how infuriated I was? The fact you belonged to another but not to me?"
"Well guess what, Lilac. I don’t belong to you. I am not a property for you to own," Amelia spat.
Lilac’s breath hitched. Then something shattered behind her eyes.
She lunged.
Her fingers grabbed Amelia’s chin, her nails biting into her skin as she forced her mouth open. She shoved the macaron inside, palm rough against Amelia’s jaw. Amelia choked and spat crumbs, glaring.
"You will eat," Lilac snapped, tears welling—not from sadness, but rage. "Stop making me the villain!"
"Don’t force me!" Amelia choked, struggling. "I don’t want to—!"
"Shut the fuck up," Lilac said angrily as she pushed the macarons bit by bit into Amelia’s mouth. Amelia tried to resist, but due to being chained, she couldn’t do much.
Once she had been able to force Amelia to swallow all the macarons, Lilac’s eyes softened again like a switch being flipped. She stroked Amelia’s cheek with a gentler touch, leaning in.
"I’m sorry I had to do it, Amelia, but you were being so stubborn. You won’t hate me for that, right?"
Amelia gagged and then wheezed out angrily, "Stay away from me. Don’t touch me."
"Then just a kiss," Lilac whispered, voice breathy and trembling. "Please, just one. I promise I won’t go further—just... just a kiss..."
But as she leaned in, Amelia’s eyes darkened and her teeth sank hard into Lilac’s bottom lip.
Lilac yelped, stumbling back with blood on her mouth, shock and fury warping her doll-like face.
Amelia wiped her lips with the back of her hand. "Fuck you."
