Her Dark Desires-Chapter 42: A Life For A Life

"One more baby." Zach coaxed softly.

Eliana smiled and opened her mouth, allowing Zachary to feed her.

"I can’t eat anymore, Zach."

Zach smiled, feeling content that at least she was finally eating and smiling. Slowly, colors were returning to her face, and even though there were times he found her in a daze, he was still happy that she was slowly coming out of her grief.

Zach kept the food aside and opened up a bottle of water for her to drink.

Eliana drank it and was already feeling so full. Zach was truly persistent in having her eat, and to please him, she ate despite not feeling like it.

The couple heard a knock on the door and Zach asked the visitor to come in.

Ryan came inside with a bouquet of roses "Beautiful roses for a beautiful woman."

Eliana accepted the rose with a smile and inhaled the smell. "Thank you, Ryan."

"Anything for you, sister-in-law."

"Now that I’m about to get discharged from the hospital, does that mean I’m going to get arrested?" Eliana asked with a slight fear in her heart.

Zachary’s expression darkened as he asked, "Why will you get arrested?"

"If it is about your mother then you don’t need to worry. Sloane didn’t file any charges." Ryan replied, hoping to ease Eliana’s worries.

"I remember killing him. I know I killed him." Eliana shouted.

"Lower your voice," Ryan said immediately. He went to open the door and sighed in relief when he saw no one in the hallway.

"No one is going to arrest you, Eliana. The police don’t know you killed someone, and even if they knew, it would be an act of self-defense, so you are not getting arrested." Zachary said.

"If they don’t know then what happened to the body?" Eliana curiously asked.

"Burnt, along with the warehouse," Ryan replied with a shrug

"You burnt the body?" Eliana asked in surprise as her gaze moved from Ryan to Zach.

Ryan cleared his throat and said "What do you want? For that bastard to have a proper burial."

"That isn’t what I mean. What about his identity, do you know who he is?"

"His name is Jeremy, an orphan who became a member of the hood gang at age sixteen. He was saved and taken in by a guy named Mason Lawson." Zachary spoke out about their discovery during the past few days.

"Mason. That is the guy who had called Jeremy before he decided to no longer ask for ransom. Have you found this Mason?"

"It’s easier said than done. The Hood gang is a gang under the Casiso’s Mafia. A very dangerous Mafia family that pays no respect to either the government or the police. If this Mason Lawson holds a high position in the hood gang, then it will be harder to deal with him." Ryan said.

"It doesn’t matter what position he holds, Mason owes me a debt, and I must collect it," Zachary said coldly.

Eliana felt chills when she heard him but there was a resolve in her voice as she said "A life for a life."

"I do not disagree with you on that, but there is a little problem there. Yesterday, I sent one of my guys to infiltrate the gang, and he said they were looking for the dead guy. These guys are dangerous and if they find out their guy was killed by Eliana, it will cause an issue."

"I am not afraid," Eliana stated. Why should she be scared of people finding out she killed that bastard? If time were to reverse to that point, she would do it again without a second thought.

Ryan smiled as he said "I know. From what I have heard about Don Marcelo, he does not approve of the killings of women and children, and that means he probably knows nothing about what Mason and Jeremy did."

Zach looked at Eliana as she asked "Who knew you were going to see your grandmother at the airport?"

"Huh, I don’t know. I just received a message from her asking me to see her one last time." Eliana said, wondering if maybe her grandmother.....no, what was she thinking?

"Your kidnapping was a planned one, especially because no ransom was asked," Zach stated.

"And that means, the main purpose of them kidnapping you was to kill you," Ryan added. He raised a brow at Eliana and asked "Any idea on who would want to kill you?"

"I can’t think of anyone who would hate me enough to kill me, Ryan." There was tiredness in her eyes as she thought of who might hate her enough to kill her.

"Good thing I have a few ideas, like maybe your crazy sister or perhaps, the insane woman who gave birth to you and whom you almost killed," Ryan said playfully but there was seriousness in his eyes as he spoke.

"Amber hates me, yes, but I don’t think she has the heart to stage a kidnapping. And my Mom is out of the question, having been pregnant myself, I know you can’t wish the death of your child."

"Then what made you beat her to the point she almost lost consciousness?" Zachary asked.

Hearing his question, Eliana looked at him and wanted to say it but decided otherwise. After all, words are like a seed; what if she tells him, and he starts thinking of leaving her? No, she shouldn’t say anything.

"I don’t know, I just lost control of my emotions. I should apologize to her when I get the chance."

Zachary and Ryan shared a look and it was as if there was an unspoken conversation between them.

"I should leave, I need to ask for a leave from my commander," Ryan said. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"A leave?" Eliana asked in surprise.

"I won’t go back to base until I find the person who did this to you and my brother."

"Will you be allowed a leave?" Eliana knew the rules in the military were quite strict, so she wondered if Ryan’s leave would even be approved.

Ryan chuckled and replied, "That is why my mother knows the president, and also Commander Dogan owes my brother a favor, so my leave being approved is not one of my worries."

"Having connections is truly amazing." Eliana said in awed.

Ryan chuckle and promised to visit her again tomorrow before leaving.

With an intense stare from her side, Eliana turned her gaze to Zach and asked "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Because you are lying."

"What?"

"What did your mother say that got you upset so much so that you almost killed her?"
