He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact-Chapter 509 The past washes away
[Imperial Sector of the Arman Empire]
[Royal Palace of the Arman Empire]
In a large villa located by a beach side, several individuals were seated in a large flamboyant hall. The sunlight seeped through the windows, and the sound of crushing waves on the seashore ran adrift in their ears.
A beautiful woman with graceful and mature feminine features stood before the group.
"It’s a pleasure to meet you all."
Before the empress could finish talking, the emperor made an appearance. He seemed a bit impatient, as if he had been rushing here in a haste.
He joined his wife and bent his waist backward with her. "Thank you all for being the family we could not be to our grandson, Kailen. We are grateful for your presence in his life, and we know you are the family we can never be to him."
Lawrence had already filled everyone in concerning what had ensued between him and his maternal grandfather in the Vatican Empire.
The group sighed.
They were very touched by the gesture. The emperor and the empress of the Arman Empire were showing gratitude to them? And they were actually bowing? The couple didn’t even put on airs about their authority. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
It showed how much they meant what they were doing.
"Grandmother-in-law and grandfather-in-law, please, meeting Kailen was the best thing that happened to all of us," Arrie said. She was not taking Kailen’s grandparents’ side by saying this. She was not saying this to implicate Kailen.
She was being sincere and polite. Whatever had ensued between Kailen and them, they were willing to help Kailen’s loved ones seek shelter in the Sacred Sea Secret Sect. The group owed them at least this level of reception.
Several in the group nodded at her words. She was right, though. Although their efforts had roles to play in how far they had come, how many of them would have come this far without Kailen’s involvement?
The emperor and the empress smiled warmly at their response. They were relieved that at least the people Kailen considered family didn’t treat them coldly. This was progress.
Lawrence stood by the side of his parents with a complicated expression on his face.
His father was willing to turn over a new leaf and prioritize family, huh? He felt extreme anger at the man. His father’s actions drove his sister away, and she ended up ultimately dying in the end.
But he also felt that since the man was willing to change, and his mother had personally confirmed it, it was worth letting everything go. There was nothing that could be done to change the past. But the present could influence the future. Besides, would Kailen even have been born, had his sister not ultimately left the Arman Empire? How many prodigies like Kailen existed? Would he have met a nephew he could be so proud of?
He would give the old man another chance.
The two grandparents turned to Kailen and Lawrence.
They bowed down again. This time, their faces touched the ground.
"We are very sorry for everything."
When Kailen said he had cut ties with them, they thought that was the end. But their grandson had reached out to them again through Lawrence.
They knew he had done it for other reasons. They knew it was because he wanted his grandmother to help his loved ones who wouldn’t be training with him to take shelter in the Sacred Sea Secret Sect. Knowing their grandson and his demeanor, he had done this because he had no other choice, and contacting them may have been extremely unpleasant for him. But he put down his pride for the sake of his loved ones, and went against his wishes to not have anything to do with them again for the sake of his loved ones.
However, they felt hopeful. There was no way they’d let this encounter with him go to waste. They wanted to make amends with him.
Kailen sighed deeply. Seriously, his heartstrings had been pulled. He was human after all.
Coupled with emotional resonance and detective’s gimmick, it made it all the more difficult for him to resist them. They were being sincere. Yes, they could not undo the past. Yes, although they didn’t kill his mother, they could have at least showed her that they were her parents, by standing by her during the attack on hers’ and her husband’s life in the Astral Empire. And that, was something that crossed the line.
Kailen was not one used to giving others second chances, especially when certain lines were crossed.
But he sighed. What should he do?
To be honest, he didn’t hold anything against them. Like he had said when he met his paternal grandfather, he had never even considered them as family.
But could he say that now?
His grandmother was personally willing to escort some of his loved ones to the Sacred Sea Secret Sect, in a time where the Arman Empire was facing an invasion from the vimodial contractors too. She could have decided to send them there with envoys. But she wanted to go personally. She wanted to amend her mistakes with her actions. She was putting Kailen’s loved ones, and ultimately him, before the safety of the empire.
His grandfather seemed to have rushed here from some sort of urgent meeting, which most likely was about the future of his empire, from his appearance. Certain parts of his empire had been attacked by vimodial contractors. Yet , here he was, choosing family over his empire.
Kailen’s grandparents did this because they were willing to make amends for the past.
There was no way he would have forgave Cyrus Darkhaven even if he had turned over a new leaf. Because Cyrus was the instigator of the death on his paternal grandfather and the attempted assassination on his parents.
But his maternal grandparents were not the murderers of his parents.
To Kailen , their decision to not come to her aid when their daughter needed the most was wrong , cold and extremely unfilial as her parents. But, they were here now. He had cut them off. Didn’t see them as family. Didn’t care about what they did to buy his presence.
But now, their actions....
Kailen sighed. He may be cold. He may have bottom lines. But...
"Golden finger, what do I do?"
The Time Dilation Artifact was silent.
"Babe, what do I do?"
He sent a thought transmission to Arrie.
"Whatever decision you make, I will support you, and I trust you will make the right one," Arrie sent back.
It seemed he had to handle this on his own.
Everyone in the hall was silent.
The emperor and the empress had their heads still bowed on the ground.
Everyone was waiting for Kailen’s response.
Lawrence had already forgiven his parents. But Kailen’s decision was his own to make.
Kailen sighed deeply. Only actions could move him. And their actions had moved him. He was cold, pragmatic, and even vengeful. But he was human.
Their actions had convinced him. He would give them a place in his life. But if they ever brought harm to him or anyone he loved , he would be the one to make them suffer a miserable fate. And he prayed it wouldn’t come to that. Because, seriously he was tired of killing family members.
He had decided, consciously, to let go of the past and let them have a place in his life.
"Grandpa, Grandma, please stand."
