Chapter 51: Boar

Once the fish got into his inventory, he brought it out and placed it on the ground before looking at the cat. He saw that its eyes were fixed on the fish.

"Go on, eat it all." He took a step back so that it did not feel intimidated to approach.

To his astonishment, the cat looked him in the eyes again when he said that and just as he thought that it would meow or come forward, it vanished and appeared near the fish instantly...

"Wha—"

Lukas got shocked and took a step back.

The cat got a little alert at him moving suddenly and took a step back too. Lukas controlled himself.

"S-sorry for that, enjoy your meal..."

His heart was still beating faster than before. The cat had definitely used some skill and if he was not wrong then it was something like teleportation.

There was no element related to space in evolution and it was even verified with the fact that the elemental pill box he used did not show any pills related to it.

So how did this cat use that skill... he really had to figure out about the beasts now. Maybe only a knowledge stone could help him.

"Meoow"

The cat tilted its head before looking back at the fish and approaching it immediately.

Lukas could already see its saliva dripping onto the ground... ’It seems quite hungry?’

The cat gave a small sniff before sinking its teeth into the belly of the fish. Once it began eating, it completely lowered its guard.

Lukas smiled and nodded. It really was hungry. Maybe it did not want to eat corrupted beasts or maybe it was not strong enough to kill them.

’Is it level 0 or 1’... Being able to use a skill means it should be above zero right?

"Meoww"

As he was thinking, he heard another meow and when he looked, the fish was gone. Even the bones were not left behind.

"Don’t tell me one was not enough for you..."

"Meow..."

"Was that yes or no... sigh." He could see the desire in her eyes to eat more so it definitely was not no.

He gritted his teeth. "You better follow me after this one or I am kidnapping you..."

He bought another one but the cheapest one this time. It cost him 5 LP. It was a carp.

After placing it down he sighed again. Gone was his perfect 800 LP count... ’Oh well, I am definitely getting them back tonight with extra interest.’

"Burp!"

"Look at that, finally full are we. You should not have eaten that fast..."

"Meoow..."

"Oh well..." He looked at the sky. It was still some time before night fell so he decided to continue his hunt. "Follow me..."

Although he doubted that it would understand.

He just walked a little and it really did follow him, although it definitely was not because it understood him. Nonetheless, that was what he wanted so it was a perfect situation.

Lukas walked for a few more steps when he heard a bark. He looked in the direction and sped up a little. Unlike human dead walkers, zombie beasts did not screech. They still used their original tone.

So even when he heard the bark he was not expecting it to be an evolved beast like this cat.

When he arrived at the scene, he saw a dog fighting a bunny. Both of them were zombies.

He was surprised to see that the dog was at little disadvantage. He took the bow and attacked immediately.

Shkkk!

Boom!

The cat flinched beside him but did not run away.

’Smart kitty.’ He went ahead and picked up the crystals and both were level 1.

’This really is a good place to farm...’

"Meoww"

"Hm?" Lukas looked at it and its eyes were fixed on the crystals... ’Ahh yes, they too can level up by absorbing these.’

"Sorry to disappoint you but let me level up first. After that I will give you some." He said and absorbed the crystals.

This forest was filled with these level one zombie beasts, so there was a good chance that he would go above 50 crystals before going back. That meant tomorrow he would definitely reach level 3.

"Meow." The cat seemed disappointed but it was given. It did not have good enough understanding of what he meant.

’Come to think of it, if beasts kept leveling up, would they have high enough intelligence to understand human language?’... If it was true then it would be quite amazing to see.

"Let’s see how much we can hunt today..." After saying that he sped up his pace. This area seemed to be filled with level one so there was no need to be too cautious.

He really met a lot of zombie beasts as he walked through the outer area of the forest. Every kill brought him closer to his level up and when he thought that no more surprises would happen, he found another evolved beast.

It was a wild boar and it was coming for him with its tusks raised which were shining with a metallic luster, definitely it was a skill.

Lukas shook his head. "You are just running towards your doom..."

Instead of using an arrow he decided to use a sword to kill it. It was wild game and its meat was definitely edible. He wanted to see how an evolved beast tasted like.

He also had a feeling that he would be able to store its body inside his inventory storage as it was related to evolution.

The boar did not change its direction or try to use side steps to confuse him. It came as straight as it could but when he tried to stab it, it dodged.

"Grrrrrhhhh..."

’Well it was not a zombie, so it definitely had instincts to feel fear, nonetheless’...

Lukas immediately dashed and his speed was faster than the boar’s due to wielding the starry bow, so he reached close to it instantly, giving no time for the boar to react.

SHRRRKKK!

SPLUTTER!

"Squeeeeeeal—"

The boar fell to the ground while screaming due to a deep gash in its neck from the side. It twitched for a few seconds before passing away.

Lukas took out the evolution crystal which was exactly similar to the crystals found in zombies and absorbed it.

He sat down and put his hand on the boar’s body before thinking of storing it and to his relief it worked.

"Meoww!"

"Don’t tell me you are surprised... hehehe." He stood up and stretched himself. "Anyway it’s time to leave..."

The sun was already not visible and soon the faint light from it would also vanish. He did not want to stay in the forest at night.

He looked at the cat closely. He did not even know its gender. It looked quite slender so he had a feeling it was female. He sat down and gestured towards it. "Come here..."

The cat looked at him and slowly came close to him...

"You really are quite a smart one huh. Now climb on my shoulders and let’s leave for your new home." He patted his shoulders.

The cat blinked at him once and disappeared before Lukas felt weight on his shoulder.

Purrr!

Soft purring entered his ears and he smiled while shaking his head. "Why did I even sit down..."

He stood up and began walking out. Finding the way back was tough so he stayed very close to the river where he could hear the flow of water.

Once he came to the shore, he could see the bridge about 1000 meters or so. He began sprinting while hoping that the others were safe. They had already discussed before that after he left they would occupy the nearest home, so he was not much worried, not to mention they had already killed almost all of the zombies in this society.

It did not take him long to reach the bridge and he finally stopped. The cat was sitting quite comfortably on his shoulders and it did not even flinch when he was running.

"I wonder what your name is..."

It was definitely a pet cat. It was very obvious from the fact that it was comfortable around him.

"Meow..."

"Don’t tell me it really is Meow... hehehe."

While crossing the bridge he saw his level...

[Level - 2 (13/20)* (67/100)]

He really had gotten a lot of level one crystals in the forest. It was a really good decision to pay it a visit today.

Tomorrow he would reach level 3 and after that he would pay a visit to the camp near his aunt’s house.

When he came to the other side he saw that Grace was standing alongside Hannah and the others were waving at him from a balcony of a villa which was not any smaller than their own. It truly was a society filled with rich people.

He could already see their surprised expressions and definitely it was because of this slender beast on his shoulders.

In just a few seconds they came out and Grace dashed towards him with her top speed. "Lukas, is that a cat?"
