Chapter 50: Evolved Beast

"This is far better than mine," Emily sighed.

"It’s a rare skill, aunt, so it was given..." Grace replied.

Lukas on the other hand decided to use Ember Shot too. He used it on the ground...

BOOM!

It was really much stronger than what his aunt had shown. He compared the exhaustion he felt from both skills and came to the conclusion that overall he felt about the same exhaustion by using both skills.

It was given though. Although Sanctified Pulse was a rare-tier skill, it was a domain-type skill and he had to keep it active for a longer time, while Ember Shot was just a one-time-use skill.

"Let’s continue..." He would test out more limitations right now to have a good enough understanding of these skills.

It was still noon so they had plenty of time and he wanted to check out the outer forest by today.

...

In the evening Lukas, Hannah, Grace, Emily and Elena were standing at the edge of the area where this society ended. In front of them was the start of the forest and the only thing separating them was a river passing just a few metres ahead.

There was a footbridge connecting both sides, so crossing was not an issue.

"Wait here for me, I will be back shortly." Lukas did not want them to come along as their stats were lower and they might not be able to escape in a dangerous situation.

"Take care, don’t take unnecessary risks," Hannah spoke and Lukas nodded.

He moved at a normal pace and began crossing the long wooden bridge which was reinforced with metallic rods.

He had not even reached the other end when he saw a thick snake slithering on top of a tree. ’Damn, is that a python?’

Its skin was blackish and little rotten so it was an infected beast. Maybe all the beasts were infected by now due to the food chain.

He decided to hit it with a weak arrow to see its level. He could have used Ember Shot too but for the time being he wanted to conserve his stamina.

After using the bow so many times his aim was getting quite good. It was similar to how he had learned to drive a car so quickly. His stats had improved everything.

The arrow flew through the air silently and hit the snake exactly in the middle.

Boom!

A small starlight flame bloomed at the impact point and the snake’s body got separated into two pieces.

Both portions fell to the ground and began violently thrashing here and there...

Lukas sighed in relief. Looking at that he was certain that the snake was not level 2 or above which he feared the most right now, since finding those beasts at the very start would be disastrous to all his plans. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

He did not even know whether absorbing higher-level crystals was possible or not... ’Technically it should be possible, right?’

He could absorb one level lower crystal so absorbing one level higher was definitely a possibility. Testing it was not possible unless he met a level 3 beast though...

There was one more thing he was quite concerned about. Just like how humans had evolvers, beasts might also have some who had successfully evolved.

If that was true then were they capable of using skills or using status? It was a little hard to believe given their intelligence.

He shook his head and came close to the still thrashing snake which was not dead yet.

Hissss!

Lukas took out a sword and stabbed it in its head, pinning it to the ground. "You are already dead, why are you so desperate then..."

He took out a knife and sliced its neck. Thankfully the crystal was easy to locate and he pulled it out. There was a little difference in the colours of the crystals.

Level 0 ones were very light blue, while level one’s were slightly darker. This one was level 1. A good start.

If he could find level one crystals this casually then he could level up faster than he had thought.

He absorbed the crystal and began walking deeper into the forest.

There were lots of bushes everywhere and he did not want to walk through them, so he had to walk zigzag to avoid them.

Rustle!

He had just walked a few steps when he heard the rustling sound in one of the bushes and stopped.

Just as he did that, a cat jumped out and to his immense surprise it was not a dead walker beast. It did not have the rotting type skin or fur.

In fact it looked otherworldly, exotic and beautiful. He did not know much about cats but he had seen lots of them in reality and this was definitely not a breed he had ever seen. He doubted this breed even existed in the world.

That shiny black fur with its purplish pink ends on its ears and tail end along with a similar colour rhombus mark on its head looked otherworldly...’Like a pokemon ’

The other surprising part was that it looked at him calmly like it was not afraid or eager to attack him.

Was this the evolver version of beasts? It definitely looked like one. "Hello there..."

It also seemed to be a pet cat before it evolved as it definitely was not afraid of humans around.

"Meow..."

He got surprised again as he was not expecting a reply. Now he was really more interested in it than before.

"Nice to meet you..." He opened his shop and decided to waste a little LP on a raw fish. He really wanted to make friends with it if he could.

He could learn a lot about evolved beasts from it, not to mention his sisters had always wanted a cat as a pet but since his old man was allergic to cats, they never got one.

If he was able to make friends with it than their wishes would be fulfilled, one more way to emotionally blackmail them for group sex... ’Hehehe’

When he looked at the description of raw fishes he picked a salmon for 8 LP. There was no specific reason, he had 808 LP’s and he just felt like wasting those 8 points.
