Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 91: Lilith’s Origin
The black cat was Lilia’s only companion.
Lilia refused to give up on the black cat. She drew closer, trying to snatch it back.
Suddenly, the burly man tossed the black cat aside and lunged for Lilia as she approached.
Lilia leaped up, clutched the black cat, and tried to flee.
In his desperation, the burly man no longer cared about damaging the "goods" and swung his axe.
THUD!
Lilia collapsed to the ground. The black cat in her arms was smashed by the axe, a mangled mess of blood and gore.
A gash so deep the bone was visible appeared on her chest.
"Cough, cough, cough... Bun, don’t die..."
Her vision began to blur. Watching the burly man approach, Lilia murmured.
"I don’t want to die..."
The burly man looked at the wounded, dying Lilia, then glared in annoyance at the black cat on her chest.
"Damn it! This cat ruined everything. Black cats really are bad luck!"
Suddenly, the black cat in Lilia’s arms melted into a pool of shadow.
The shadow seeped into Lilia’s body. Spurred on by the Power of Shadow, the wound on her chest healed at a visible rate.
SHLICK! SHLICK! SHLICK!
"Aaargh!"
The burly man let out a horrific scream as several impossibly sharp shadow spikes erupted from the ground’s shadows, piercing his body.
CLANG! The axe fell to the ground.
The black cat’s blood on the axe turned into droplets of shadow and flowed back to Lilia.
Lilia rose to her feet, a dense Power of Shadow radiating from her body.
She glanced toward Li Wei’s hiding place, as if she had sensed him.
Like a river flowing in reverse, shadows surged upward and consumed Lilia’s figure.
POP!
The mass of shadow shattered, scattering across the ground.
Lilia had vanished.
Li Wei emerged from the darkness, his expression grim.
’What in the world was that black cat, Bun?’
’That last look... did she spot me?’
After witnessing the entire event, he felt he was beginning to understand the relationship between Lilia and Lilith.
But it only raised more questions.
There was another critical factor: Was this dream even real?
If Lilith had already sensed him entering her dream and was deliberately feeding him a fabricated scenario, he was in big trouble.
’I should leave the dream for now. Tomorrow, I’ll see if I can meet Lilith in the real world and confirm whether she’s really Lilia.’
After Lilia vanished, Li Wei was unable to find her anywhere in the dream.
He had no way of obtaining a Memory Fragment.
Li Wei left the dream.
POP!
Just as he stepped out of the Dream Bubble, Li Wei saw it burst behind him and vanish into the Dream Fog.
’Lilith woke up?’
Li Wei returned to his safe house.
He resumed practicing his magic, grinding away at his Mage’s Hand cultivation.
In the early morning, before leaving the dreamscape, Li Wei glanced at his cultivation progress.
[Mage’s Hand (Tier Zero Small Success)] 1342/4000
[Crystal Meditation Method (Tier One)] 900/10,000
[Fireball Skill (Tier One Small Success)] 3066/10,000
[Invisible Armor Skill (Tier One Small Success)] 321/10,000
[Great Dream Traveling Skill (Tier Zero)] 9850/10,000
[Shadow Touch Surgery (Tier One Entry Level)] 400/1,000
[Ice Arrow Skill (Tier Zero Mastery)] 420/2,000
[Rock Breathing Method (Entry Level)] 654/1,000
With no Nightmares to hunt, his progress on the Great Dream Traveling Skill was slow.
After dawdling along for more than half a month, it was finally about to break through to Tier One.
He had also spent time developing his Fireball Skill and Invisible Armor Skill, but progress was slow.
Developing a skill took much more time than simply practicing it to increase proficiency.
His Crystal Meditation Method, however, was progressing faster thanks to the Magic Potion.
Unfortunately, it was not a long-term solution.
At Li Wei’s current rate of consumption, one bottle of Basic Level Magic Potion could only sustain his cultivation for about eight days.
He had already used up more than half of the bottle.
Once the Magic Potion ran out, his cultivation speed would plummet.
Li Wei spent all his time thinking about how to safely sell the Rock Demon Beast’s Demon Core to make some money.
So far, he hadn’t found the right opportunity.
The commotion hadn’t died down yet; people were still searching everywhere for the Rock Demon Beast’s Demon Core.
Li Wei had even seen someone post a quest at the Professional Association to collect a Rock Demon Beast’s Demon Core.
He wanted to wait until things quieted down before secretly selling it.
Worse come to worst, he could wait until July 15th and sell the Demon Core at the Mage conference in Flying Flower City.
A single Rock Demon Beast Demon Core shouldn’t attract too much attention there.
Besides, reaching Tier Two wasn’t something he could do overnight.
Even with the aid of Magic Potions, it would still take at least several months. He had a long way to go.
Li Wei found Gu Ze.
"Teacher Gu Ze, do you know where Lilith usually goes?" Li Wei asked.
Gu Ze thought for a moment. "I’m not sure about anything else, but she’s always on time for her meals at the cafeteria."
Li Wei found that statement so ridiculous he didn’t even know where to begin.
That single sentence was enough for Li Wei to be almost certain that Lilith and Lilia were the same person.
"Alright, I won’t disturb your cultivation any longer, Teacher. I’ll be on my way."
Gu Ze had only recently broken through to become an Official Mage.
He used his long-accumulated Contribution points to exchange for the Crystal Meditation Method.
Having just learned the Crystal Meditation Method, he was now diligently cultivating every day to increase his power.
As Li Wei walked through the Mage Tower, he realized he hadn’t seen Rota around for the past few days.
He wondered if Rota was still researching his Chain of Small Fireballs Skill after becoming an Official Mage.
Li Wei guessed he had probably given up on it.
The benefits from Extraordinary Traits were far too great, vastly outweighing those from an ordinary, modified Magic Model.
Rather than painstakingly modifying a Magic Model, it was better to learn a spell that suited one’s own Extraordinary Traits.
At noon, Li Wei arrived at the cafeteria early.
He was wearing an Invisibility Cloak, sitting in a corner.
When the cafeteria opened for lunch, the first person to walk in was Lilith.
Lilith was wearing the Official Mage Robe provided by the Mage Tower.
The moment he saw her, Li Wei confirmed it: Lilith and Lilia were the same person.
However, their demeanors were completely different.
One was cold and arrogant, the other naive and endearingly ditzy.
But their obsession with food was identical.
Li Wei glanced curiously at the top of Lilith’s head. Her cat ears were gone.
’I wonder how she hides them.’
Lilith was exceptionally sensitive to being watched. As she ate, she subconsciously glanced toward the spot where Li Wei was sitting.
Seeing no one there, her eyes narrowed, her gaze turning sharp.
By the time the others began to arrive at the cafeteria, Lilith had already finished her meal and left.
Li Wei found a corner to materialize, finished his food, and left the cafeteria.
He hadn’t gotten far from the cafeteria when a figure appeared behind him.
"Why do you keep staring at me?"
The shadows receded, revealing Lilith standing in a corner, questioning Li Wei.
Li Wei turned to look at her.
Lilith’s expression was still cold and indifferent as she stared at him.
Seeing this, he was a little surprised. ’She doesn’t recognize me?’
’Could it be that Lilith and Lilia really aren’t the same person?’
’Do they just look alike?’
Li Wei shook his head. "I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t believe we’ve met."
Lilith’s eyes were icy as she stared into his, her gaze seemingly trying to pierce right through to his soul.
After a moment, without another word, Lilith turned and left.
