Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 116: Harvest
BAM!
Carrying the grievously wounded, dying Ant King, Li Wei didn’t fly far.
The Ant King was too heavy.
He didn’t have much Mana left himself. After carrying the Ant King out of Reina’s sight, Li Wei quickly found a place to land.
"Shadow Attendant, can you control the Ant King?"
The Golden Anteater shook its head.
Li Wei wasn’t surprised. The Ant King’s Level was too high, exceeding the Shadow Attendant’s control capabilities.
The Shadow Attendant might have been able to temporarily seize control of its body while the Ant King was severely injured.
But once the Ant King recovered from its injuries, it would have easily regained control.
Seeing this, Li Wei said bluntly, "Kill it."
The Golden Anteater moved forward, its long tongue stabbing into the Ant King’s wound and injecting Super Acid Liquid into its body.
The Ant King’s internal organs began to melt under the corrosion of the Super Acid Liquid.
The Ant King’s body trembled violently as it struggled nonstop.
Ten minutes later, the light faded from the Ant King’s eyes, its head drooped, and it died completely.
Li Wei exclaimed with emotion, "Its Life Force is truly terrifying!"
The Shadow Attendant had to use Super Acid Liquid to practically hollow out the Ant King’s body just to kill it.
If he hadn’t separated the Ant King from its swarm, it would have been incredibly difficult to kill it, even after inflicting such heavy wounds.
SLURP, SLURP, SLURP.
The Golden Anteater slurped up all the liquefied internal organs of the Ant King, its body starting to tremble violently.
Red metal Scales began to grow on its body.
The Golden Anteater had evolved.
Li Wei glanced at the Golden Anteater and asked, "Shadow Attendant, can you still control it?"
The Golden Anteater nodded, still trembling.
Seeing this, Li Wei didn’t pay it any more mind and turned his attention to the carapace left behind by the dead Ant King.
If he took this carapace back to a Blacksmith, he could have at least one set of Tier Three Armor forged.
Li Wei knew better than anyone just how strong the Ant King’s Defense Power was.
If this carapace were made into Armor, an ordinary Tier Three Professional would have a hard time breaking through its defense.
This carapace was without a doubt a treasure.
"Hm? Where’s the Demon Core?"
After searching for a moment, Li Wei found a brown Demon Core under the Ant King’s head casing.
"A Tier Three Earth Magic Core."
A smile spread across Li Wei’s face. This was worth a lot of money.
It might even be more valuable than the carapace.
Looking at the carapace, he felt a headache coming on.
The carapace was too big to carry away conveniently.
The Ant King had been over two meters tall and five to six meters long.
The remaining carapace was three to four meters long.
It was big enough to be used directly as a Shield.
It would be a struggle for Li Wei to move the entire carapace by himself.
’If only I had a Spatial Ring,’ Li Wei thought.
With no other choice, he had the Shadow Attendant find a spot to dig a hole and hide the carapace for now.
He would come back for it when he had the chance.
Right now, he had to get back quickly and clear himself of any suspicion.
"Let’s go."
After hiding the Ant King’s leftover carapace, Li Wei returned to the camp with the Golden Anteater.
Some of the metal Scales on the Golden Anteater’s body had turned red.
The red metal Scales had much higher Defense Power.
Li Wei felt that the Golden Anteater’s Level had probably increased.
Its movement speed was also quite a bit faster.
When he returned to the camp, Li Wei was surprised by the scene before him.
The Iron-Eating Ants were actually trapped inside the camp, not daring to come out.
The reason was that people had piled Fresh Reishi Grass all around the outside.
Li Wei had learned the name—Fresh Reishi Grass—from Gu Ze after they met.
Previously, the Golden Anteater had scattered some plants to block the Iron-Eating Ants’ path.
This scene had been noticed by others.
Later, someone recognized the plant as Fresh Reishi Grass.
Everyone then collected a large amount of Fresh Reishi Grass and built a fence with it to stop the Iron-Eating Ants.
Li Wei said, "Is this reliable? The Iron-Eating Ants just dislike the smell of Fresh Reishi Grass. That doesn’t mean it can actually stop them."
Gu Ze said, "It’s just a delaying tactic. Someone is already on their way from Maple City."
"I heard that Grand Mage Allen is coming," Rota said.
A look of surprise crossed Li Wei’s face. He asked in confusion, "Allen became a Grand Mage?"
Gu Ze gave him a strange look and asked, "You know Allen?"
Li Wei’s heart skipped a beat. ’Crap, I almost blew my cover.’
"Ahem, I’ve heard of him, but I’ve never met him."
"I’ve at least heard of the great reputation of the chief instructor of Maple City’s Mage Tutoring Corps," Li Wei quickly explained.
Hearing this, Gu Ze didn’t seem too suspicious.
He said, "It should be true. I heard that Mage Allen went into seclusion a while ago to break through to Tier Four. Since he’s coming to provide support now, he most likely succeeded."
Li Wei nodded, indicating he understood.
’If Allen comes, he might see through my Illusion Technique. I should hide for a bit first,’ he thought.
Li Wei made an excuse and left the camp.
He went to hide outside.
Just as he walked out of the barracks gate, he saw Reina limping back.
Li Wei subconsciously wanted to go forward and help support her.
He raised his hand, only to remember his current identity, and quickly lowered it.
"Do you need help?" Li Wei asked.
Reina shook her head. "No, thank you."
As Li Wei watched Reina walk past him, he suddenly asked, "Why did you volunteer to lure the Ant King away earlier?"
"If you had wanted to escape, you could have done so easily. Was it worth taking such a huge risk for everyone else?"
Reina stopped and gave him a slightly puzzled look.
Then, she straightened her posture and said, word by word, "Protecting my comrades is a Knight’s duty."
Hearing this, Li Wei felt a sense of familiarity.
In the past, Reina had said the same thing to him.
Protecting one’s comrades is a Knight’s duty.
But when true crisis struck, not everyone could live up to that ideal.
Yet Reina had always faithfully upheld her duty as a Knight.
She always kept her word, and her actions were always resolute.
Looking at Reina, Li Wei felt as if he could see the radiance of her character shining from within her.
Perhaps this was the spirit of a Knight.
Reina was a born Knight.
Looking at Li Wei, Reina was suddenly struck by a strange sense of familiarity.
She asked in confusion, "Do we know each other?"
"No." Li Wei shook his head.
"Hello. It’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Timo, a Summoner traveling the world," Li Wei said.
Reina nodded and said, "I’m Reina."
"Welcome to Maple City."
Li Wei smiled. "You should go get treated. I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving."
He turned and left.
As Reina watched his departing figure, that inexplicable sense of familiarity washed over her again.
’What is going on?’
Reina couldn’t understand it either.
Why did Timo’s back look so much like someone she knew?
Reina watched Li Wei’s back disappear into the woods before turning and walking into the barracks.
A few soldiers hurried over to escort her, but she waved her hand, dismissing them.
Reina’s mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the mysterious Mage.
She planned to go back and ask her master about it.
Li Wei hid in the forest.
At noon, he was sitting under a tree, eating dry rations.
He had just opened his waterskin for a drink when a familiar figure appeared not far away.
Li Wei’s heart sank.
’Why can’t I ever avoid him?’
The newcomer was none other than Allen, who had rushed from Maple City to provide support.
Ordinarily, dealing with the Ant King wouldn’t require a Grand Mage; a Tier Three Mage would have been sufficient.
But Allen had just advanced in rank and wanted to test his new skills on the Ant King, so he had volunteered for the task.
He didn’t yet know that the Ant King had already been dealt with.
Seeing someone sitting in the forest, Allen slowed his pace and became vigilant.
He subconsciously scanned the person with his Spiritual Power, probing their presence.
