This shield is the foundation of the pathway of the undying. It is not all-powerful at rank 1, but it is highly relevant because it can block any type of damage and attack for the godclads of the pathway of undying.

It doesn't matter if the attack is physical, spiritual, mental, or elemental. It doesn't even matter if the attack is a curse or a blessing; like the healing of the pathway of light, the shield will block everything.

Right now, the power or quality of their spirit is 10. As long as an attack is not more powerful than that, they will be able to block it. And as long as they have spiritual energy to keep the shield functioning, it won't matter the number of attacks that they are facing. They will still be able to block.

The power of this shield is why undying are so difficult to kill. Even at rank 1, its extraordinary nature can be seen.

Rank 1 godclads normally have a spirit of 10 at the minimum and 20 at the maximum when they are ready to reach rank 2. So just by gaining this ability, there is nothing another rank 1 with the same spirit can do to them.

When they grow stronger as undying, they won't be afraid of walkers who can collapse space around them. It is not a wonder why that is so.

As they activated the ability, the invisible shield spread all over their body, including their hair, mind, and spirit. Once attacked, the shield will stop the damage for them. This will make it appear.

A normal Aegis is purple. When it appears, it will appear like a thin film of purple fabric over the body. But that wasn't the case with their Aegis Shield.

After they activated it, their body flashed golden for a while. Then they went ahead to test its power.

What they used to test its power is the Sever ability. It is the most powerful attack that they currently know. If they can block it, then they can be sure that they can block everything else.

Of course, they didn't use Sever on just any part of their body. That would be foolish.

If they used Sever on their arm, it would be alright if the shield blocks it. But if it doesn't, it would be laughably stupid of them.

What they decided to cut was a strand of their hair. That way, they won't care if the shield fails them or not.

So Legion grabbed a strand of their hair and used Sever on it. Red light appeared in their hand, and they tried to cut the hair. But the shield sprung to life to defend their hair.

The shield was golden, not purple. It looked like something they had seen the god of soul and the god of power use to save their lives many times. It shimmered like a golden skin over their bodies and protected them from every type of damage.

Legion-5 sighed and said, "The Boat of Transcendence. The second requirement for independence."

He said that with some emotion. The emotion he was feeling was scrafudre.

He and the others find it ironic that they worked hard to infect others and turn the world into them, yet they embarked on a journey to become an Absolute by being completely independent from the world. It is the opposite of what they stood for as Legion.

It is not a bad thing. They don't think it is a bad thing because the aspect of independence is also the opposite of ANNIHILATION.

The Boat of Transcendence followed then from the future because it is the second requirement for the aspect of independence. The first requirement was invulnerability.

They had gained a part of invulnerability from the time lock while they gained the shield from the boat of transcendence. Both the time lock and the boat of transcendence came from the lord of madness.

The lord of madness is the one who created tenebrium, this world of darkness that they are currently in, and the void universe. It was their innate ability of adaptation in the past and evolution in the future that helped them acquire both qualities in the past and future.

Now that they have embarked on the path of becoming Absolutes, the pathway of undying belongs solely to them. The fact that they possessed the ultimate ability of the pathway as a mortal and a golden aegis shield instead of a purple one is proof of that.

Unlike other godclads who are assimilating divine flesh to become the entity that the divine flesh was cut from, they are assimilating divine flesh as if taking back their power in order to become the entity they were in the future and even beyond that.

This golden shield is different from the normal one in that it has certain damage mitigation capabilities. Currently, it can let 10% of whatever attack hits them bypass them and be ignored. Only the remaining 90% will need to be resisted by the shield.

As they grow stronger, this damage mitigation will continue to grow stronger. They suspect that it will reach 90% when they reach rank 9, the limit of the pathway.
