Chapter 32: Chapter 32: 100-Year Covenant

When he saw the Dwarf ruler ignore Selena and the many attendants on the ship, greeting only him, Noah understood why his foster mother had brought him here.

As the undisputed strongest Dragon Species of the Metallic Dragon Race, the Golden Dragon possesses reputation to match.

This reputation has been forged by tens of thousands of Golden Dragons over countless eras, and it benefits every Golden Dragon.

Even though Noah is now just a Young Dragon, he can still enjoy this honor.

No creature present found anything inappropriate about Ironforge’s ruler, Elken Copperbeard’s actions; this is a concept and sense of identity that has gradually formed over the long years and has taken deep roots in people’s hearts.

Golden Dragons should inherently have such exalted and noble status, for it is what they deserve.

"Warrior favored by the mountains, I am Golden Dragon Noah Heliers La Monton. May the earth guide your path, and the glory of the mountains be with you."

Faced with such a formal greeting, Noah had to straighten up and respond to the other party.

"Your Highness Noah, may I presumptuously ask, what is your relationship with these humans? Have they committed any offenses against you? Should there be such an offense, three thousand heavily armored Dwarf Warriors from Ironforge are willing to fight for you."

After the formal greeting, Elken lifted his head, scrutinizing the Lady beside Noah, his braided beard almost dragging to the floor, swaying slightly with his movement.

Even with the deterrence of a Legend present, it was clear that this Dwarf ruler still held great resistance and dissatisfaction towards humans, along with an indescribable prejudice.

"The Augustus family has been chosen by my parents to be my guardian family, Lord Casius is my foster father, and this is my foster mother."

Noah introduced immediately.

The humans who raise a Golden Dragon should naturally also be benefited by the Golden Dragon’s reputation. Moreover, he truly had nothing bad to say about his foster parents; even his biological parents couldn’t have been this good, for they wouldn’t give him gemstones as if they were candies.

"Humans who have actually gained the recognition of a Golden Dragon."

"I’ve never heard of such a thing before."

As Noah’s voice fell, a low murmur arose from among the Dwarves lined up on the square, and the tense atmosphere dissipated by more than half.

"Since they are humans who have gained the recognition of a Golden Dragon, they naturally also qualify to be honored guests of Ironforge."

Not only common Dwarves, but even Elken Copperbeard’s face, initially so stern as if he were ready to draw his weapon to fight at any time, softened considerably, and the murderous air over the square was swept away at that moment.

"Hmph, stubborn old Dwarf!"

At this moment, Noah heard a sneer by his ear. It was his foster mother making remarks about Elken, yet this undisguised voice did not elicit any unusual reactions from the Dwarves in the square, evidently, only he could hear it.

"This visit will go smoothly, you don’t need to worry about a fight breaking out, little Noah. You’ve made a great contribution, and once we return, I’ll reward you generously."

Noticing the gaze from Noah, Selena smiled gently.

The Lady, who initially seemed elegant and noble while also giving an impression of being unapproachable, now showed a refreshing and approachable warmth.

Noah turned back, looking down at the Dwarves, understanding something vaguely.

Indeed, as his foster mother said, once they disembarked the ship, they were all treated as honored guests, and Noah received the best hospitality, being invited into Elken’s palace.

The Dwarves presented him with a large amount of gold cakes and numerous gemstones, among which were a few flawless ones, all of which are favored by Golden Dragons.

However, the ruler of Ironforge avoided him, accompanying several Dwarf elders to a neighboring palace to have talks with his foster mother.

As Noah consumed these gemstones found by the Dwarves in Earthfire Magma like candy, he pondered, having fully figured it out.

Dwarves are also an ancient Race with long-lasting heritage; they have a strong sense of racial pride and also require dignity, not as much as the Elves, but they still need face.

Putting oneself in their shoes, should he be the Dwarf ruler of Ironforge facing the sudden rise of a human family demanding submission, from the perspective of bloodline inheritance and power continuation, when faced with a force capable of destroying them, submission would undoubtedly be the best choice.

But if the Dwarves of Ironforge were to kneel simply under overwhelming force, how would they manage afterwards? How would they face other branches of the Dwarf Race, or maintain their dignity? How would they and their descendants live on?

Dwarves are not like those cowardly Monster Clans who only prey on the weak; they too are a civilization with a long history and have worshipped quite a number of Gods.

They would never submit to mere force; at the very least, that submission ought not to be due to fear of a Legend.

Dwarves need dignity; they need a proper and elevated reason to maintain Ironforge’s honor, a reason that is beyond criticism from anyone.

Thus, the Golden Dragon, still in the Young Dragon Stage, was brought over.

Submitting to a human family protected by Legendary might, versus submitting to a noble family acknowledged by a Golden Dragon, these two concepts are completely different.

The former invites ridicule, while the latter garners broad acceptance.

"Hmm?"

Just as he believed he had reasoned out the situation and understood the Dwarves, Noah suddenly looked up, sensing an abnormal flow of Elements in the atmosphere, suggesting that there was a High Rank Spellcaster controlling the Elements.

Boom—— freewebnøvel.coɱ

A blazing white beam shot straight into the sky, reaching the clouds, while the Elements wailed, causing the mountains to tremble, and even the palace to quiver, with dust and rubble falling incessantly.

"Wasn’t it agreed upon not to fight?"

Feeling the trembles transmitted through the ground, Noah felt a moment of paralysis, looking around to figure out the best escape route.

"Of course not fighting."

With a flash of insight, his foster mother’s graceful figure appeared before his eyes, smiling brightly, seemingly very pleased with the outcome of the visit,

"Little Noah, the matter is settled, we should leave."

"Is it over just like that?"

Noah looked at the several Dwarf females who had been serving him; they too appeared at a loss, their eyes full of panic and unease.

"No need to worry. From now on, Ironforge is an ally of the Augustus family; I have signed a century-long contract with your chieftain."

Selena clearly felt wonderful, comforting these Dwarf maidens while silvery runes lit up in the air, flashing in succession and eventually forming a portal.

Noah followed his foster mother, transitioning through space back to the Floating Ship, and at this time, the ground of the square still gently trembled, with aftershocks continuing, leaving the Dwarves living in this fortress city particularly alarmed.
