Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons-Chapter 33: The Trap
Thoren walked through the quiet street with slow measure steps. His undead minions surrounded him like a fortress.
For additional security, he took out his Iron sword and gripped it tightly. His eyes frequently wandered around.
’What fuck is stalking me.’ He cursed inwardly.
Since he arrived near the ancient city, he had a feeling of being watched.
However, he couldn’t sense the direction of the feeling. It was as if everything around him was watching him which was crazy.
He took a deep breath to calm his racing heart. He took another and entered another street.
The street houses many luxurious buildings. He walked toward one of the buildings and tried to enter only to realize it was locked.
"What is this feeling?" He creased his brow.
Although the building was mysteriously locked, when his hand touched the wooden door.
He got a strange feeling.
It was as if he was not touching a door. He couldn’t wrap his head around the feeling.
To confirm the feeling, he moved from one building to another and he got the same feeling.
Cold then warm.
Also, the wooden door felt like no wood.
"What is happening?" He muttered.
Now, he was convinced these buildings were no ordinary buildings.
"I don’t need to touch them any longer."
He abandoned the thought of touching or entering the building. He raised his vigilance and continued to explore the mysterious city.
He walked deeper into the city but did not encounter anyone.
Everywhere was quiet.
Even the rustle of wind seems to have disappeared.
The only sound came from his undead servants. While exploring the strange city, he saw a massive tower in the distance.
The tower was taller than all the surrounding buildings, covered in black.
More importantly, the door was wide open.
With slow measured steps, he walked toward the black tower, holding his breath.
To be safe, he sends one of his undead minions inside the tower.
After waiting for a few minutes, nothing happened. Seeing this, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He was not afraid of battle. Only that the city strangeness had gotten on his nerves.
He stepped into the tower and what welcomed him was a massive hall.
The floor was glistening from unknown materials. On the wall, there were many portraits.
But no matter how looked at the portrait, he couldn’t see what was in the portrait.
Everything was blurry.
After trying a couple of times, he shook his head and head deeper into the hall.
From the glistening floor, he could see his reflection. His silver hair and deep blue eyes stared back at him.
Just then...
"Did my reflection just smirked?" His heart skipped a beat and footstep halted.
All the hair on his body stood on end. He forcefully swallowed the lumps in his throat and lowered his head to look at the floor.
There, his reflection was staring at him without any changes.
"I’m hallucinating." he thought but shook his head.
He knew what he saw. He stared intently at the glistening floor to see if he could detect any sign of what happened before but nothing.
With no success, he decided not to think about it as he continued deeper into the hall.
As he got deeper into the hall, the portrait on the wall got bigger and fewer.
Also, stone statues began to appear.
The stone statues were life-like. Each holding a weapon. However, he did not think much about them.
"Huh!" A sharp gasp escaped from his lips.
At the end were numerous dazzling items scattered on the ground.
There were gold coins, powerful weapons and more. He stared at the dazzling item without taking a step.
His thoughts churned.
’How could there be so many rare items?’ He thought.
More importantly, he felt everything was too easy. For such rare items, he expected to be a sort of protection.
A ferocious beast.
A puzzle.
A ghost.
But none.
Additionally, the feeling of being watched had gotten stronger like never before.
He never believed there are free gifts in this world. For everything, price must be paid and no price was demanded.
That only means one thing.
Something was definitely wrong.
Although he had thousands of undead servants in his Undead Space, that does not mean he was ready to fall for whatever schemes that were happening.
More importantly, the ancient city had already gotten under his nerves. Without hesitation, he turned and began to walk out of the temple.
Just as he took a few steps, he heard a deep chuckle inside the hall.
"For a Necromancer, you’re too cautious."
The scene inside the temple hall changed. Two young men and one young woman appeared a couple of feet from him.
The previous glistening treasures were long.
Thoren did not have any changes in expression. His eyes locked on the woman who was staring at him with a smile that wasn’t a smile.
"You’re the first one that manages to resist my Illusion." She added with a playful smile. "I’d have loved to continue to play with you but we can’t delay the mission."
"Who are you?" Thoren asked in a flat voice. "I don’t think I have seen your face before. So, why are you after me?"
Looking at them, Thoren could feel a subtle pressure from their body. When awakeners pass Level 10, their body begins to emit a subtle pressure.
The higher their level the higher pressure. Unless they deliberately control the pressure.
However, these three were deliberately releasing it.
"You don’t need to know us but we know you. Almost everyone in the abyss has already heard of your fame. And today, we’re going to end it." The young man clad in knight gear said, stepping forward.
"You can try to play your necromancer fancy trick. But remember, I’m a Level 13 Knight. All you minions mean nothing before my sword."
Instead of being intimidated, a slow smirk crept up to Thoren’s face.
"Oh Really?"
