Chapter 95: Chapter 95: Paranoid

’What kind of crazy friend would call that many times?’ Mr. Crow asked.

Lana chuckled. "Cassandra’s a very interesting person. If you ever meet her, even you would be deceived."

Mr. Crow snorted. "No one has ever managed to deceive me."

Lana waved her hand dismissively.

’In my last life, even after calculating against everyone and predicting every possible move of my enemies, I never thought the one to betray me in the end would be someone so close.’

Her lips curved into a smile as she reached the cafeteria.

Just then, her phone pinged with a message. Sure enough, it was a bank transfer from Cassandra... $30 million.

Mr. Crow frowned. "Why has she sent such a huge amount? Is she trying to trap you? Or mock you?"

Lana chuckled. "She’s doing it out of guilt."

With that, she placed her phone aside. She had no intention of returning the $30 million.

That woman was a snake wearing a lamb’s skin. Lana knew Cassandra was aware of the inhuman deeds she would soon commit. Out of guilt, she was repaying her.

After finishing her lunch, Lana returned to the cultivation room.

Now that she had to conjure $30 million, she told Mr. Crow, "Go and deliver a message to Lucy. I need a cash of $30 million, and the money is in my room."

Mr. Crow asked, "Why aren’t you leaving?"

Lana laughed. "From what I know about the Almond family, they’ll definitely play tricks. The moment I leave the university perimeter, I can forget about ever repaying the debt."

Mr. Crow was stunned by her confidence. It was as if she already knew what might happen if she took her next step. ’Is she being paranoid?’ he wondered.

Deciding it was better to be sure, he went to check on Aston to see what he was planning.

"Anyways, here is the letter, pass it to Lucy." Lana knew about the communication barrier and thoughtfully handed a written letter to Mr. Crow

Soon, he arrived at the teaching staff’s building and found Aston’s office.

After hesitating for a moment, he looked around. Once he was certain no one was nearby, with a poof, he transformed into a small black worm and slowly crawled inside.

If Lana were here, she would have recognized his current form; it was the same as the black earthworm she had picked out as food for Mr. Crow.

Once inside, Mr. Crow coiled into a dirt-like lump and hid behind a chair. As for the letter, he had dragged it too.

After persistently waiting for Aston for an hour straight, Mr. Crow was on the verge of transforming back into his crow form and leaving when the office door suddenly opened, and Aston walked in.

He looked irritated, tugged at his tie, and stepped further inside. Behind him followed a pair of slender feminine legs.

Mr. Crow heard Aston say, "Brenda, you have truly messed up this time."

Brenda replied softly, "Lana won’t be able to pay back the $30 million at all."

Aston’s voice tightened with restrained anger.

"What if Lana begs her best friend for the money? What if she takes it from Cassandra and pays it back? I’ve made so many plans to torment her using that IOU, and now, because of your mistake, I’ll have to tear it apart in front of everyone. The Almond family will become a laughingstock once that happens! Not to mention, you won’t even be able to cry about how Lana enjoyed all the benefits, because she’ll have repaid what she owed. She’ll become the pitiful one instead."

Brenda pursed her lips before saying,

"Then let’s wait for Lana to leave the university premises. Once she steps out, we can make sure she never comes back. That way, she’ll be the one shamed, and our family’s reputation will remain intact. We can even hire some hooligans to constantly trouble her and not let her earn money, so she’ll never be able to repay the money."

The moment Mr. Crow heard those venomous words, his heart filled with hatred.

He even had the urge to peck Brenda’s head right off.

How dare this vicious woman scheme against Lana! At the same time, he couldn’t help but admire his master’s foresight. Lana predicted all of this perfectly.

Aston looked at Brenda thoughtfully and nodded.

"It’s possible. But first, we need to make sure Cassandra doesn’t transfer any more money to Lana. Otherwise, she won’t even need to leave the university."

Brenda chuckled.

"Then, instead of asking for an online transfer, we can demand that Lana present the money in cash. That way, she’ll have to leave the campus to withdraw it. We’ll do it in front of everyone. When she tries to argue that her money is online, we’ll accuse her of planning to hack the transfer and cheat us. She’ll be forced to go out and cash it. Once she’s outside, we’ll ensure she doesn’t return. Everyone will then believe that she was scheming against us from the very beginning."

Aston couldn’t help but smile. "At least your brain is still working."

Brenda lowered her head, but a trace of resentment flashed in her eyes.

’This man’s mouth is truly poisonous. Can’t he be gentle for once? He treated Lana like she was the pearl of his eyes, but me... he only gets angry.’ 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

She bit her lip.

’Was I wrong to want revenge? That woman said the siblings would treat me better once she used her magic. So why, even after she did, are these Almond brothers still treating me this way?’

She lifted her head, her eyes filled with dependence. "I know I was wrong," she said softly and turned to leave.

Aston stared at her retreating figure, then sighed.

Realizing he might have been too harsh, he took out his phone and made a call.

"Prepare a blueberry cake," he ordered, but then paused.

’Wait... Lana was the one who liked blueberry cake, not Brenda.’
