But this public bet would corner them, forcing their hand. Soon, sheโd finally be free of that headache. ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ท๐๐ฟ๐๐ต.๐๐๐
With a satisfied smile, she turned and started walking toward the university gates.
But before she could go far, Riley stepped forward and blocked her path.
"Wait! You canโt just leave it at that. Tell us where youโre going!"
Lana smirked and mimed zipping her lips shut. "Not telling," she teased. "You can call me ungrateful all you want."
And with that, she walked off in a good mood, her steps light and almost playful.
Annoyed, Brenda and Riley decided to follow her. Since Lana had refused to say what department she belonged to, they figured they might at least find out by tailing her.
However, after following her in two full circles around the campus, they began to realize something was wrong.
Lana wasnโt heading toward any particular classroom, and she was moving far too leisurely, as though leading them on purpose.
The realization made their faces burn with embarrassment. "Sheโs playing us!" Riley hissed. Furious, they finally turned and left.
Only once their presence vanished did Lana slip into the Mystic Departmentโs cultivation room.
She joined her classmates and began to cultivate, letting her mystic energy settle again.
When her session ended, she sat cross-legged for a while, wondering whether to mention what had happened at the gate.
Before she could decide, Betty, who had finished cultivating earlier, hopped over excitedly. "Lana! Did you really make a bet with Brenda?"
Lana tilted her head. "How do you know about that?"
Betty pulled out her tablet, showing her the university forum.
"Itโs all over the forums! Everyoneโs talking about how youโre going to pay off your debt to the Almond family tonight."
Lana glanced at the screen and let out a slow breath. "Good. This might actually work in my favor," she murmured with a small smile.
Seeing her expression, Betty patted her chest proudly.
"Donโt worry, Lana! If you need the money, Iโll lend you the thirty million myself!"
Before Lana could reply, Richard jumped in. "Same here. Iโll lend it too, on one condition. You have to go on a coffee date with me."
"Hey!" Wade added, laughing. "Make that two offers! Iโll give you the same deal, a date for thirty million."
Layla and Betty both pressed their lips together, exchanging a knowing look.
A small, mischievous thought crossed their minds. Lanaโs charm and playful personality suited their own tastes perfectly.
For a fleeting moment, they even considered inviting her into their relationship.
But they restrained themselves; Lana wasnโt close enough to them yet, and it was far too soon.
Still, the fact that she might share their orientation secretly delighted them.
What Lana didnโt know was that Richard had already told everyone in their group about her preference. If she had known, she wouldโve laughed helplessly at how fast rumors spread.
Meanwhile, as her friends kept offering her "loans" so casually, Lana began calculating silently.
โIf I really took all their money and put it into a high-interest savings account...โ
The monthly interest alone could support her comfortably.
She smiled faintly at the thought.
For them, thirty million wasnโt much; they were always talking about spending even larger sums on cultivation resources.
But for her, this was an opportunity she could actually turn into profit.
In Lanaโs mind, a dollar machine was constantly running, and Mr. Crew, who could almost sense her thoughts, couldnโt help but shake his head in dismay.
This girlโs mind was filled with nothing but money. He reminded her through their link,
โIf you agree, youโll have to go on two coffee dates.โ
Lana immediately froze before giving a wry smile.
She muttered softly, "Men are truly greedy. They always know how to lure or tempt someone."
Mr. Crew raised a brow and asked, "Were you expecting all men to give you everything for free?"
Lana shook her head. "Not all men are like my white moonlight," she said.
"He loved giving me everything. Even the smallest grievance I suffered, he would remember it and make sure those behind it paid a heavy price. He is the kind of man who never asked for anything... and I desperately wished he would."
Her voice was thick with lust, though outwardly she maintained her neutral expression.
Mr. Crew rolled his eyes and murmured, "You should maintain some kind of self-dignity."
Lana completely ignored him and looked at her classmates with a smile.
"Iโve already considered your offer," she said, "but Iโll have to decline it since I already have enough."
She wasnโt lying. In fact, she was planning to deposit the $949 million she currently had in cash into the bank to earn interest, or perhaps buy an estate that could yield monthly or annual returns to fund her resources.
She didnโt lack the $30 million, yet to say she wasnโt touched would be a lie.
Their sincerity and willingness to help showed how much weight she held in their hearts.
Lanaโs words left her classmates stunned. Betty looked at her and asked,
"Are you rejecting us because youโre feeling shy? You shouldnโt, considering everyone knows your situation."
Lana waved her hand. "Iโve picked up some side gigs and managed to earn a good amount. Now Iโm confident enough to pay the money back."
Hearing her confident tone and seeing her eyes sparkle under the ceiling lights, creating a strange circle as if an angelโs halo rested within them, they couldnโt help but nod subconsciously.
Lana had a strange kind of power. She could convince anyone to follow her, and even her classmates werenโt immune to that charm.
Seeing them nod, Lana left the cultivation room and decided to grab lunch. Meanwhile, her phone kept ringing. She decided to ignore it.
However, Mr. Crew couldnโt help but ask, "Who is this Cassandra? And why is she calling so much?"
He had personally seen how Lanaโs missed calls had gone from 200 to nearly 2,000, all from this same Cassandra, who seemed to be in a life-and-death situation and desperately needed Lanaโs help.
