Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Two Souls?

Suddenly, an idea appeared in her mind. Her eyes narrowed, and a slow smirk lifted her lips. Both Lucian and Mr. Crow saw it. ๐’‡๐’“๐™š๐’†๐”€๐“ฎ๐“ซ๐’๐“ธ๐™ซ๐“ฎ๐“ต.๐“ฌ๐™ค๐™ข

Lucian pretended he hadnโ€™t, but anyone observant would have noticed that his mood had improved significantly.

Mr. Crow immediately asked, "You seem to have come up with an idea, what is it?"

Lana only said, "I just need to do it. I will do something that will completely remove Lucianโ€™s doubt."

With that, she returned to the university in a noticeably good mood.

As she made her way toward the Mystic Cultivator Department, the lightness in her steps faded when she suddenly sensed someone trailing behind her.

She halted instantly, her instincts sharpening. When she turned around, there was no one in sight.

However, she didnโ€™t resume walking. Instead, she continued forward until she reached a narrow pathway with only a single right turn... an area where anyone following her would be forced to reveal themselves.

The moment Lana disappeared around the corner, the person shadowing her stepped out too, and as soon as they appeared, Lana quietly waited for them to expose themselves.

The figure hesitated for a second, then peeked around... only to freeze when Lana appeared with a faint smile on her lips.

It was Cassandra.

The instant Cassandra realized she had been caught, she stiffened like a startled deer. Lana tilted her head and asked calmly, "What kind of business do you have with me?"

Cassandraโ€™s voice trembled with guilt as she replied, "I... I just wanted to see how you were doing."

Lana let out a soft laugh.

"Instead of calling out to me, or approaching me directly, you thought trailing behind me like this was a good idea? Doesnโ€™t your appearance right now seem a little suspicious?"

Cassandra lowered her head and whispered, "Itโ€™s not like that..."

Lana maintained her composure and said evenly, "I donโ€™t intend to associate with someone like you anymore. So it would be better if you give up whatever scheme youโ€™re planning."

Cassandraโ€™s face went pale. "Why are you being so harsh to me?"

Lana smiled faintly. "Do you think I donโ€™t know about your system?"

Cassandraโ€™s heart skipped violently. Her eyes widened as she stared at Lana, stunned. Lana didnโ€™t miss her expression... if anything, it confirmed what she already suspected.

"If you dare come in front of me again," Lana continued, her tone calm but sharp, "Iโ€™ll teach you a very good lesson."

She turned away and walked off. But after only five steps, Cassandraโ€™s desperate voice echoed behind her.

"If you know about the system... then you also know about the second soul inside me, right?"

Lana froze mid-step. For the first time, her body went stiff, and she turned slowly, almost mechanically, toward Cassandra, who was staring at her with frantic desperation.

For a moment, Lana wondered if she had misheard. โ€™Did she really say... a second soul?โ€™ Her mind felt strangely blank.

Mr. Crow, confused, asked, "Whatโ€™s going on?"

But Lana only shook her head. โ€™I donโ€™t know,โ€™ she whispered. โ€™Even in my previous life... Cassandra never said anything like that.โ€™

In her past life, Cassandra had used her system to steal Lanaโ€™s masterstroke, the masterpiece she created at the end of her third year.

Cassandra had even stolen other designs Lana had drawn, as though she had installed a chip inside Lanaโ€™s mind.

Because of Cassandra, Lana had been labeled a plagiarist and kicked out of the university. Everything that followed... the humiliations, the downfall... had all begun with Cassandra.

And now Cassandra was claiming that the root of all that suffering was due to another soul residing inside her?

For a moment, Lana didnโ€™t know whether she was hearing things or whether Cassandra was attempting another trick. Mr. Crow spoke again, "Should I help you judge whether sheโ€™s lying?"

Lana shook her head. "No. Iโ€™ll trust my instincts."

She stepped closer and asked coldly, "What exactly are you talking about?"

Cassandra immediately explained, "On the day you were kicked out of the Almond family... I suddenly received a strange system."

Lana stared, waiting for her to continue, her expression perfectly blank. When Cassandra hesitated, Lanaโ€™s irritation spiked.

"What is it? Why arenโ€™t you speaking anymore?"

Cassandra swallowed nervously. "C-can we talk about this somewhere else?"

Lana was about to reject her, but when she saw the desperation in Cassandraโ€™s eyes, she clenched her fists.

In her previous life, she could never understand why Cassandra had betrayed her so deeply. And now, she was being offered a chance to uncover that answer.

After a long moment, Lana lowered her gaze and said, "Fine. After my lectures, Iโ€™ll meet you at the cafรฉ."

Cassandra nodded quickly. They both knew which cafรฉ she meant... Hartwell Cafรฉ, just five minutes from the university, was a place they had visited frequently back when they were best friends.

As soon as Lana said this, she turned and ran as if something dangerous was chasing her.

Cassandra stared after her retreating figure with a hint of sorrow in her eyes.

She murmured softly, "Iโ€™ll tell you everything... even the deepest secret Iโ€™ve been hiding."

Just as she finished speaking, a voice echoed within her mind, a cold, almost seductive whisper.

"Youโ€™re being foolish. Let me take control. If you let me, I will help you bring Lana to your side. Iโ€™ll help you rule your family."

Cassandra clenched her fists but said nothing aloud. A flicker of suspicion crossed her face, but she remained silent, merely watching Lana disappear from sight.

Meanwhile, Lana returned to the cultivation room. Once inside, she sat down and immediately began cultivating, completely shutting out thoughts of Cassandra.

โ€™Even if Cassandra has bad intentions,โ€™ she thought, โ€™as long as Iโ€™m strong enough, she canโ€™t harm me.โ€™ With that resolve, she closed her eyes.

For the next eight hours, she remained entirely absorbed in cultivation. When she finally opened her eyes again, nearly eight hours had passed, and it was already 3 p.m.

When Lana stood up, slightly shaky, others in the room looked at her with admiration. Betty whispered,

"If anyone deserves full marks in cultivation, itโ€™s definitely Lana."
