Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 137: Goddess Lana?
In that instant, she looked ethereal... like a goddess who had descended from the heavens. His breath hitched. For a moment, he forgot how to blink. He almost felt the urge to kneel and worship her.
Lana, seeing him go still, panicked slightly.
"What happened? Why did you freeze? Did I hit some acupoint?"
Her worried expression only made Mr. Crow laugh.
Even in panic, she looked like a beautiful woman desperately trying to fix a mistake she never made in the first place. He reassured her gently, "I’m fine."
Lana narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "So you weren’t hurt at all, were you?"
Her tone made Mr. Crow stiffen... but he wisely chose to remain silent.
Seeing Mr. Crow fall silent, Lana could only drop the topic temporarily. After all, she was already running late for university.
She quickly dried her hair, then pulled on her black wig and placed the black lenses into her eyes.
Once she was done, she pressed a hand against her stinging eyes and muttered under her breath, "There’s a desperate need for lenses that don’t burn my eyes at all."
Mr. Crow couldn’t help but comment, "You could just buy the expensive ones."
Lana immediately shook her head.
"No, thank you. The expensive ones go up to a thousand dollars. I’d rather spend that kind of money on the house or keep it for when I need it for a breakthrough, not on a pair of lenses."
Mr. Crow muttered, "You can’t just kill yourself for cultivation materials."
Lana waved her hand dismissively.
"I’ll improve my lifestyle once my annual net worth reaches a hundred million, or three hundred million... or billions. After that, spending a thousand dollars on lenses will be completely fine. But until then, I need to use the cheap ones."
Mr. Crow reminded her, "The blueprint you provided earlier... You can earn a huge profit from those. What are you planning to do with that money?"
Lana replied almost instantly, "Use it for cultivation materials. From what my friends have told me, I’ll need a lot of rare herbs to break through into the higher levels."
Hearing that, Mr. Crow could only shake his head helplessly.
When Lana reached downstairs, she saw Lucian sitting at the dining table.
Instantly, she slipped back into her composed persona, her posture straightening, her expression turning elegant and poised.
Mr. Crow couldn’t help but think back to what Lana often did after transforming into a silver kitten and muttered inwardly, ’If Lucian ever learns what she does as a kitten, he’ll never believe this graceful act.’
Though Lana never told him about her deeds, her inner thoughts sometimes exposed more than they should.
If Lucian had known what Mr. Crow was thinking, he would have laughed and said he already knew the kitten who pretended to be all elegant now.
The moment Lana entered, Lucian’s eyes subconsciously looked in her direction. When he saw her, his lips curved upward. "Good morning, Lana."
"Good morning, Mr. Lucian," Lana replied, taking her seat. Then she asked, "How do you have the time to eat breakfast today?"
Lucian laughed.
"I was here yesterday, too. But you were in such a hurry that you didn’t even notice I was present."
Lana felt slightly embarrassed. "Yesterday I was on a very important mission."
Lucian simply smiled and waited for her to settle in her seat. Then he asked gently, "Any progress on that silver kitten?"
Lana froze internally, though her face remained composed. She offered a polite smile.
"The investigation is ongoing. I’ll look more closely the next time it appears."
Lucian nodded.
"Last time, it appeared when you were in the bathroom. What I find most suspicious is that the kitten showed up. Naina also told me you weren’t in the bathroom, but suddenly you appeared. What do you think that means?"
Lana’s heart pounded. ’Did he already figure it out?’ She forced herself not to show her nervousness and suggested,
"Maybe the kitten was waiting for us to separate before it attacked."
Lucian smiled and shook his head, while Mr. Crow shook his head as he was stunned by Lana’s shamelessness.
"Well, that’s one possibility," Lucian said, and Lana quietly exhaled in relief.
"But there’s another possibility," he added.
This time Lana felt her heart leap into her throat.
Lucian continued, "When I tried to check on you, the silver kitten looked very desperate."
Lana clenched her fist beneath the table and forced a calm smile. "Are you thinking the silver kitten is me?"
For a moment, the entire atmosphere became silent, as if something forbidden had been spoken aloud.
Lana even felt the urge to confess, just throw herself at his mercy... when Lucian finally said,
"Of course not. I think the kitten knows you, and that’s why it seemed scared of seeing you."
Lana let out a silent sigh of relief. ’Thank god he is not suspecting me! Otherwise I would have been done for!’
Meanwhile, Mr. Crow narrowed his eyes.
’Lucian isn’t showing even a hint of suspicion,’ he murmured in his heart.
He also assumed Lucian was fooled.
Lucian maintained his gentle smile and added,
"Whatever the reason is, I hope you can get me results soon. Otherwise, I really might start thinking you’re the silver kitten."
He laughed as if it were a casual joke, and Lana laughed along, but in her heart, she could only think,
’I’m doomed.’ If Lucian continued observing her carefully, he might eventually notice something strange... something that would lead him to the truth.
For a moment, Lana decided she needed to stay alert. She had to ensure she left no traces of her kitten form in her room.
Even one or two silver hairs might give her away, and although she always tried her best not to shed in that form and to keep anyone from discovering her real silver hair color, she resolved to be even more cautious.
At the same time, she began brainstorming ways to distract Lucian completely.
