Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 139: Mystery Behind Cassandra’s Action
Everyone nodded. Lana laughed softly. "There’s no subject called cultivation."
Her words made the entire room freeze. Seeing their stunned expressions, Lana realized she had said something foolish.
Sure enough, Betty forced an awkward smile and said, "Actually... there is a cultivation subject."
For a moment, Lana was left completely speechless.
She had never imagined there was a hidden subject she had not been told about.
Betty quickly explained that because the subject was considered a default course, no one thought to mention it to her, and over time, they had simply forgotten.
Layla added that the subject was graded based on how dedicatedly a person cultivated, and the longer and more efficiently they cultivated, the higher their marks would be.
Mr. Axel was the one who evaluated students for that course.
Lana stared blankly, unsure whether she should laugh or cry.
But even more stunned were Betty, Layla, Wade, Richard, and Faye.
They had always assumed Lana was cultivating so obsessively because of this subject.
But now they realized she had been cultivating purely out of genuine effort and necessity. A complicated expression formed on each of their faces as they looked at her.
Lana only thought, ’This isn’t worth the reaction,’ and gave them a small smile before turning to leave.
She had made an appointment with Cassandra, and she intended to keep it. She needed answers... answers she had been denied in her past life.
The moment she stepped into the café, Lana saw Cassandra sitting at their old table.
At once, a faint coldness rose in Lana’s eyes, but she quickly masked it, slipping into her usual cheerful, lazy aura before approaching.
She sat down without speaking. Cassandra hesitated, then sighed in relief when Lana nodded, indicating she could begin.
Cassandra drew a shaky breath as her mind drifted back to where it all began... just a month earlier.
She had been in her room, scrolling through her chats, when she suddenly heard a crisp "ding" echo inside her mind.
It was a mechanical voice. Cassandra’s heart leapt.
She had heard rumors of people awakening strange abilities... abilities categorized under the newly coined term "Exoray," which encompassed both superpowers and mysterious system-type abilities.
In fact, superhumans could have been called superhumans, but the term Exoray was coined because of how some had awakened strange kinds of systems too (these people are very rare, though).
The moment she heard the voice, she realized she must have awakened some kind of ability.
Her pulse quickened as she waited.
[Ding! Congratulations, host, you have awakened Blueprint Copying System!]
Cassandra froze. "Copying system?" she had muttered.
She immediately asked what that meant, and the system began explaining in a cold, monotone voice.
[You could synchronize your hand movements with those of any talented weaponsmith and replicate their designs exactly. Whenever that person picked up a pen to draw, your hand would automatically mimic the movements. To ensure you could complete the design before the original creator, the system would access a small portion... five to six percent, of the person’s mind activity, allowing you to start drawing slightly faster.]
Cassandra had been horrified. ’This isn’t a superpower... this is something villains in movies use,’ she thought.
She immediately told the system she didn’t want such power. "I want to cancel the contract," she had said.
But the system responded coldly that there was no such thing as canceling. She had awakened it, so she could either use it or ignore it.
Cassandra decided she would never use it.
Even if it was useful in the weapons design department, she could not tolerate the idea of copying someone else’s work.
She had always taken pride in drawing her own weapon designs... designs that surpassed even the geniuses in her class.
And yet now, she had been given such a disgraceful, unethical ability. For a moment, she wondered if god hated her... if even fate itself hated her.
Trying to ignore the bitterness, she focused back on her chats.
She had been searching for an orb that could help her awaken a legitimate power, and she planned to buy two, one for herself and one for her best friend, who hadn’t awakened any ability either.
At the thought of her best friend, Cassandra had smiled faintly. In her entire life, the only reason she had survived her family was because of her best friend. Without her, Cassandra would have died long ago.
Shaking her head, she forced herself out of those thoughts. But suddenly, a sharp ache pierced her skull. Her vision blurred, and she collapsed into unconsciousness.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a pitch-black space. A floating screen resembling a TV appeared in front of her, showing her own body moving... but she wasn’t the one controlling it. It felt as if she were trapped in a distant corner of her own mind.
Fear crept up her spine. ’What is happening?’
The reflection on the screen changed, and she saw an unfamiliar expression on her own face.
The entity controlling her body tapped her cheek with fascination and murmured, "I’ve finally transmigrated into the body of a rich woman."
Cassandra screamed, "That’s my body! Stop controlling it!"
The entity paused, seemingly surprised she was still conscious. After a moment, it said gently, "There’s no need to panic. I’m part of you."
Cassandra shouted back, "You’re lying! I know my soul... I’ve never felt another half! How can you be part of me? And if you were, why am I trapped like this?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
The entity’s expression flickered, annoyance passing through its eyes. It tried to calm her.
"You’re thinking too negatively. I already own this body, so you should stop resisting. Accept it, and maybe you can still live a good life."
Cassandra’s anger surged. "I don’t want to!" she screamed internally.
A flash of resentment crossed the entity’s face... Cassandra saw it clearly, reflected in the mirror the entity was staring into.
To be precise, it was still her own body she was looking at, but she could see the emotions flickering through her reflection’s eyes, and none of them belonged to her.
