Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Flirty Sterling-1

"If that’s the case," he said quickly, "then I’ll definitely try to get close to her." And with that, he hung up.

Paulina had lived her entire life surrounded by poverty. When she was eighteen, she had been stunningly beautiful and even attracted a wealthy suitor.

But believing in foolish fairy-tale notions of love, she chose a poor man instead.

When she became pregnant, that man abandoned her, leaving her alone, disgraced, and exiled to the suburbs with no support.

Her parents cut ties, her siblings ignored her existence, and she was left with a child and an unforgiving world.

She worked five to six jobs at a time just to survive, and in the grueling grind of those years, resentment took root.

She often thought, ’If only I had married the rich man... my life wouldn’t have become this miserable.’

Because of that, she raised Sterling with fierce determination. She taught him to be rational, not romantic.

To never pursue poor girls. She poured every last bit of her savings into his education, ensuring he could enter a respected university.

And although he didn’t make it into an elite place like Shadowridge University, he still managed to enter Moonhide University, one of the richest, most prestigious institutions in the region.

Yet despite living in such an environment, Sterling kept attracting poor girls.

Paulina was always stunned and speechless. She drove away every single one of them, hoping a wealthy girl would eventually take an interest.

But her interference only left her son single for years. Although he had brief flings, he never truly dated any of them, his ambition was clear, and Paulina approved of it.

Now, she looked at Lana with various emotions: greed, hope, longing, and fear all coiled together in her eyes.

She wasn’t inherently bad. Her desires came from desperation.

She simply wanted a way out of her poverty and believed that if her son married a woman from Shadowridge University, especially a mystical cultivator like Lana, their lives would finally change.

Even if Lana came from an ordinary family, the mere fact that she was a cultivator and belonged to Shadowridge meant she would inevitably succeed one day.

And Paulina was determined not to miss that opportunity.

Lana cultivated for the next two hours without any hitch.

In fact, Paulina and Sterling didn’t dare to interrupt her at all.

Sterling had arrived long ago with chocolates and flowers, but he didn’t dare to step forward, considering that Lana was still recovering her mystical energy.

’If we disturb her now and those ghosts return, who will deal with them?’ That was the only thought running in both their minds.

After all, these two ghosts had been giving them headaches for days.

They weren’t malicious ghosts who tried to possess them. On the contrary, they were annoyingly playful, sometimes pushing Sterling down the stairs and sometimes making Paulina trip at the most random moments.

Their pranks were reminiscent of mischievous children, at least, that was what Paulina and Sterling always thought.

They were irritated beyond words, and Sterling deeply regretted playing that stupid game that had attracted the ghosts in the first place.

All they wanted now was for Lana to deal with them and chase them away. Otherwise, they truly didn’t know what else to do.

On the other hand, Lana finally opened her eyes once the two hours were over, only to be greeted by Sterling’s handsome face hovering right in front of her.

Sterling had striking silver hair and pitch-black eyes, a combination that matched the aesthetics of many women.

Lana might have felt a flicker of attraction if she hadn’t already lived a previous life, shared a home with Lucian, and met boys like Wade and Richard in her class who could easily surpass Sterling.

Because of that, she didn’t feel even an ounce of attraction, let alone a good impression.

Sterling, meanwhile, looked at Lana as though gazing at a long-term girlfriend meeting him after a short nap and asked gently,

"Did you finish your cultivation?"

For a moment, Lana paused.

’Why does he sound so familiar with me? As if he’s used to watching me cultivate every day.’ She was speechless.

Mr. Crow, however, clenched his claws tightly on Lana’s shoulder before hopping down to her lap, staring at Sterling with a stern and hostile gaze.

Sterling ignored Mr. Crow completely. From his perspective, the only thing that existed in the room was Lana, the beautiful woman with straight black hair, pitch-black eyes, pale skin, a slim body, and curves exactly where they should be.

She fit every detail of his ideal type.

’If only I could pull her onto my lap and kiss her...’ The thought crossed his mind with dangerous boldness.

As if sensing his indecent imagination, Mr. Crow let out a sharp caw and glared at him murderously.

Lana frowned and asked through their telepathic link,

’What happened? Why are you suddenly so worked up?’

Mr. Crow immediately replied,

’This boy has ill intentions toward you!’

Lana couldn’t help but laugh softly.

’You don’t need to worry. I’ll be leaving this house within an hour.’

Mr. Crow nodded in satisfaction.

’Good. Otherwise, I might gouge out this man’s eyes.’

Meanwhile, Sterling stepped forward slightly and asked in a warm tone,

"Do you want to eat something?"

Lana immediately understood his intentions.

He wanted to use food to make her visit often, build familiarity, and create "inconvenient coincidences."

’It was one of the most commonly used tactics in elite universities. He thinks I’m that easy to pull into his trap?’

She looked at him pitifully and said,

"I really have to hurry. Otherwise, my teacher in charge of this mission will definitely detect my marks. I have a deadline I must meet."

Sterling blinked in confusion.

"Deadline? I never put any deadline on the request."

Without even blinking, Lana lied with a straight face.

"In my university, every mission has a strict deadline. If we fail to complete it on time, we’re penalized."

A hint of heartache flashed in Sterling’s eyes. Lana was pouting slightly, and she looked irresistibly cute. He couldn’t stand the thought of such a beautiful girl being punished.
