Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 131: Paulina
The two ghosts were rummaging through Sterling’s cupboard, casually trying on his clothes as if they were preparing for a fashion show of their own.
One of them was even swaying his hips and attempting a clumsy hip-hop dance, his transparent arms flailing about.
The moment the cupboard door swung open, neither of them bothered to look in Lana’s direction, behaving as though they were long accustomed to humans barging in on them.
From the woman’s perspective, however, it looked horrifying. The clothes floated in the air with no visible body wearing them, and she almost rolled her eyes back and fainted on the spot.
Lana, meanwhile, was utterly speechless.
’What on earth are these two doing? Are they even in their right minds?’ She took a slow breath, steadying her shoulders.
Since both ghosts were unguarded and preoccupied with their own absurd play, she decided that she should strike first. With that thought, she raised her hand to attack.
But the next second, one of the ghosts abruptly grabbed a shirt and flung it directly at her face.
Lana froze for a heartbeat, her expression blank. ’Did... did he just throw clothes at me?’
Before the shirt could land, Mr. Crow swiftly intervened, using his psychic power to divert the cloth midair.
The garment floated harmlessly to the side, and that unusual motion finally caught the ghosts’ attention.
Their dull expressions sharpened into confusion as they turned toward Lana.
The moment their eyes locked on her, Lana immediately launched her attack.
A stream of cool blue mystic energy shot from her index fingers, both hands raised, both streams intertwining like twin ribbons of frost.
The ghosts paused for only a moment, curiosity flickering in their eyes. Then the attack struck them.
The collision sent a jolt surging through their translucent forms.
Their bodies trembled violently, and a scorching agony spread across them, burning like molten lava poured straight into their souls.
Both shrieked in pain, their wails echoing loudly through the room. They scrambled around, arms flailing, trying desperately to dodge the incoming attacks.
One ghost muttered through his panic, "Why did this woman suddenly show up and start attacking us?!"
The other nearly broke down, shrieking, "Is she some kind of celestial master?! Tell me she’s not... please tell me she’s not!"
The first ghost shook his head frantically. "I don’t know! I don’t know anything!"
They darted around the room like children running away from a furious mother with a slipper in hand. Lana blinked, stunned for a moment.
’Am I... am I really fighting mischievous children right now?’ She rubbed her eyes, half-expecting the illusion to fade. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
From the woman’s perspective, however, none of the ghosts were visible.
All she saw was Lana raising her hands and mysterious streams of energy rippling through the room.
The air vibrated faintly, and her heart trembled in awe. Her admiration for Lana swelled rapidly... so rapidly that wild ideas began blooming in her mind.
For a fleeting moment, she even considered knocking Lana unconscious and dragging her straight to her son so they could consummate their future marriage without any obstacles.
The thought made her pulse race with long-buried desperation.
Lana, unaware of the woman’s bizarre fantasies, simply pretended not to notice as she continued dealing with the ghosts.
Since these ghosts had only four years of cultivation, defeating them was no challenge for her. She intensified her mystic energy, sending another wave toward them.
Their forms flickered violently before bursting into shimmering ashes that drifted across the room like burnt paper fragments. Only when their remains vanished completely did Lana finally exhale in relief.
But the moment her shoulders relaxed, she felt her mystical energy draining rapidly.
Without hesitation, she pulled out a recovering talisman and slapped it onto her arm.
A faint golden glow spread across her skin. The replenishment was only ten percent, but it was enough to defend herself if the remaining two ghosts decided to return.
However, even after she waited for several long minutes, nothing happened.
The other two ghosts were nowhere to be found... as if they were out somewhere partying instead of haunting the house.
’Why do I feel like I’m dealing with mischievous pranksters this time?’ she wondered.
These ghosts seemed more fascinated with playing around in the human world than causing harm. But even harmless ghosts emitted enough spiritual energy to make ordinary humans sick.
So despite their playful aura, they remained a threat.
The woman stared into the room with wide, trembling eyes. She leaned closer to Lana and whispered carefully, "Are... are they gone?"
Lana nodded. "Yes."
The woman let out a deep sigh of relief, clutching her chest. But before she could attempt small talk, Lana spoke calmly,
"I need to recover my mystic energy. If the other two ghosts return right now, I won’t have enough power to react."
The woman immediately nodded and motioned for Lana to follow her to the living room.
Once there, Lana sat cross-legged on the couch, closed her eyes, and began meditating. A faint ripple of energy surrounded her as she sought to replenish what she could.
Meanwhile, the woman quietly slipped into the kitchen, pulled out her phone, and called her son. When Sterling picked up, she immediately spoke,
"A girl from Shadowridge University is here. She’s sitting in our living room!"
On the other end, Sterling replied lazily, "I’ll be home in five minutes."
But Paulina, Sterling’s mother, was not finished. "Listen to me," she insisted.
"The mission acceptor this time is a very beautiful girl. Black hair, black eyes, skin pale like snow. You should come home quickly and try to seduce her! If you marry a woman from the inner city, your future will be secured."
Sterling sounded unimpressed. "I’ll come and see for myself."
Paulina repeated urgently,
"Bring flowers! Chocolates! And tidy yourself up! The girl is truly gorgeous. And she is a mystical cultivator... You must prepare properly!"
For the first time, Sterling’s tone shifted. Excitement crept into his voice. "She’s a mystical cultivator? Are you sure?"
"Yes, absolutely."
