Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Flirty Sterling-2

"If that’s the case, then I won’t hold you from exorcising the remaining ghost." Sterling looked at Lana with a gentle light in his eyes.

Lana pursed her lips and tried her best not to gag after seeing his pretentious look. ’I will have to secretly see Lucian’s handsome face for hours before I feel my eyes being sanitized. Sigh!’

Mr. Crow: "..." Not I. I don’t know her... I can’t hear her thoughts!

Lana stood up with grace and asked Mr. Crow through her connection, ’Can you sense the presence of the other two ghosts?’

Mr. Crow closed his eyes, while the sound of the clock ticking echoed in the living room, making the pair of mother and son feel an invisible pressure.

They feared the sudden emergence of the ghost, but what they feared even more was... Lana not being able to handle the ghost.

Holding their breath, they watched as Lana lifted her hand. Though the pair of mother and son couldn’t feel anything, the slightly cooler, gentle breeze in the enclosed room spoke volumes of the undercurrents.

’Maybe she has spotted the ghost and has started an exorcism.’ Both of them thought with awe in their heart. If Lana could hear their thoughts, she would have laughed and told them that they were overthinking.

She was just trying to cleanse the bad luck lingering in the house. As surprising as it seems, even after a ghost has been exorcised, the harmful Yin energy left by them in the house remains.

Mr. Crow finally opened his eyes and replied through their bond, ’They are close... but not inside the house. Their presence feels scattered, as if they are wandering outside and haven’t noticed their friends turning into ash yet.’

Lana slowly lowered her hand and nodded subtly. ’Good. I don’t want to fight inside this cramped space again. Last time nearly gave me a headache.’

Paulina anxiously licked her lips. "D-Did you find something?"

Lana glanced at her with a calm expression. "The lingering Yin energy is still a little heavy, but nothing dangerous. However, the remaining ghosts might return soon."

Sterling instantly stepped closer, as if he were her strongest shield. "If there’s anything you need, just tell me. I will help." His voice softened at the end, dripping with gentle devotion.

Mr. Crow aimed a deadpan look at him. ’Please stop acting like a devoted husband. It’s embarrassing.’

Meanwhile, Lana grinned sweetly and asked, "Oh? Then can you exorcise the ghost on my behalf? I am tired."

Sterling gave an awkward chuckle and murmured, "That... that might not be possible..."

"It’s alright, I don’t expect much from a coward anyway! Hahaha!" Lana laughed; her voice was laced with a teasing edge.

Paulina and Sterling: =͟͟͞͞(꒪ᗜ꒪‧̣̥̇)

Mr. Crow: (≧▽≦)

Paulina coughed lightly, trying to salvage the situation after her son’s pride had been thoroughly stabbed.

"Ahem... Miss Lana, would you like some water before you go outside? It’s quite windy today. You must keep your energy stable."

Lana smiled politely. "No need, Auntie. I’ll finish the job quickly."

’And then I will run from this house before this boy starts daydreaming again.’

Sterling, misunderstanding her calm smile as affection, instantly brightened. "I will accompany you!" he announced with determination. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Lana stared at him for a full second. "Why?"

"So I can... protect you," he said, chest puffed out with confidence.

Mr. Crow let out a long, suffering caw. "..."

Through their bond, he hissed, ’Protect? This child can’t even protect his own shadow. If the ghost sneezes, he’ll faint.’

Lana gently patted his head, suppressing a laugh. ’Don’t bully him. He’s harmless. Just... painfully hopeless.’

Paulina placed her hands on Sterling’s shoulders as if she were sending him to war.

"Sterling, be careful. Stay behind Miss Lana at all times. And if anything dangerous happens, make sure she is safe first!"

Sterling nodded with great seriousness... as if he had just been entrusted with the fate of the world.

Lana blinked slowly. ’...Is this family insane?’

Still, she stepped toward the door with composed grace.

The moment she unlocked it, a cold breeze brushed past her ankles. Paulina flinched and took two steps back while Sterling swallowed hard.

Mr. Crow flapped to her shoulder, feathers raised slightly.

’They’re close now. One is on the roof... The other seems to be near the neighbor’s house. They’re lingering.’

Lana narrowed her eyes. "Let’s go. If we wait too long, they’ll slip away."

Sterling wanted to reply with something suave or helpful... But panic had stolen all his vocabulary.

All he managed was a strangled "O-Okay!"

Mr. Crow tilted his head, staring at Sterling’s trembling knees. ’This one will be eaten by a mosquito before a ghost even looks at him.’

Lana suppressed the urge to smirk. ’Stop being mean, Crowie. He’s trying his best... even though his best is absolutely useless.’

Sterling bravely peeked over Lana’s shoulder. "So... uh... where do ghosts usually hide? In the dark corners? Behind trees? Inside walls?"

Lana gave him a blank look. "Wherever they want."

Sterling paled. "Oh."

Mr. Crow’s wings twitched. ’The one on the roof is moving... toward us.’

"Alright," Lana murmured, eyes narrowing as she scanned the rooftop. "Come down."

The wind stilled for a moment.

A thin, translucent figure peeked over the edge of the roof, its head upside down, hair dangling like seaweed. It blinked its bright, eerie eyes at her.

Lana raised her hand sharply, and the next second, a stream of mystic energy rushed toward the translucent figure.

The figure dodged as if sensing the danger, and the moment he did so, Mr. Crow, who was prepared for this moment, used his psychic energy to bend the mystic energy.

The next moment, the mystic energy struck the figure, and a shrieking scream echoed in the air, audible to everyone. Even Paulina and Sterling, who looked as if their soul had left their body, their faces turned pale.

Both of them ducked behind Lana and shivered like quail.

"What... what is going on?"
