Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 126: School
Lana’s smile faltered. "...Then I’ll hit them harder?"
Mr. Crow stared at her in disbelief. "That is not a plan. That is barely a thought."
Lana clicked her tongue. "You’re so dramatic."
"You’re so suicidal!" Mr. Crow flapped his wings in frustration.
"Just kidding, Mr. Crow." Lana waved her hand and explained, "I will throw the exorcism talismans or use the aura-hiding talismans."
Mr. Crow proposed, "Why not just buy some weapons?"
"Hm? I am waiting for the gauntlets." Lana explained, "Nixon had promised to give me a free sample. Since I can have a free sample, why should I pay? Not to mention all the existing weapons are just subpar. The real and worthy weapons will appear only after 3 years."
Soon Lana appeared outside the university gate and asked her driver to drop her in the suburban area.
The abandoned school was located near the dead-end of the suburban district, a place where even the regular city patrol avoided going after sunset.
The streets gradually thinned, buildings became sparse, and the atmosphere grew unnervingly quiet.
Mr. Crow tapped his beak anxiously against the window. "I don’t like this. Too quiet. Too empty. Too... ghost invitation-y."
Lana chuckled. "Don’t jinx it."
"I’m not jinxing it," Mr. Crow huffed. "I’m predicting doom."
Lana rolled her eyes. "Calm down. At least we have talismans."
"Talismans won’t save you if something above your rank appears," Mr. Crow muttered darkly.
"Well, if something above my rank appears, then you’re dying with me," Lana replied cheerfully.
Mr. Crow turned slowly to glare at her. "I suddenly regret choosing you as my master."
Lana laughed softly. "Too late!"
They exited the car, and just when Lana was about to leave, the driver reminded her, "Miss Lana, if you don’t emerge from the school within the next 2 hours, I will inform the boss."
Lana was speechless while Mr. Crow commented, ’That guy is so paranoid and controlling; you should maintain distance from him!’
’He just cares about me.’ Lana defended her white moonlight. Compared to others, she knew him way better than anyone else.
His protectiveness always seemed as if he were controlling.
"Alright." Lana nodded left, leaving the driver stunned.
Wasn’t the normal woman’s reaction the speech of independence?
Watching Lana’s departing back, the driver was filled with respect and admiration.
Lana soon reached the boundaries, and her brows furrowed when she saw the dense black fog tinged with red.
"This bloodlust... It’s so heavy!" She whispered in a soft voice, making Mr. Crow narrow his eyes. Even from a distance, he could sense the ominous aura.
Lana stepped closer to the school, her expression turning serious. "A 12-year-old ghost shouldn’t have bloodlust this dense."
Mr. Crow flapped once, uneasy. "Correction: a 12-year-old ghost can’t have this much bloodlust. Even a vengeful one wouldn’t reach this level."
"Even with the downgraded rank... it shouldn’t be so heavy." Lana frowned, and instead of rushing inside, her eyes slowly lowered to the entrance.
It was mid-afternoon, and the sun was slowly setting. The gentle breeze, coupled with the heat waves, might cause any person to sweat.
However, Lana only felt her body turning cold. The scene in front of her had somehow transformed.
The barren school, which earlier was nothing more than an abandoned ruin... suddenly shifted in Lana’s eyes. Her breath hitched.
"What...?" she whispered.
Just moments ago, the building had cracked walls, broken windows, and peeling paint.
But now... the entire school looked clean.
The walls were newly painted. The windows were intact. The iron gate stood straight and polished. Flowers... fresh flowers lined the walkway.
A gentle ding-dong school bell chimed in the distance.
Many teenagers left the school and flocked out to the playground.
Some took their tiffin boxes to a corner to share with their friends, while some formed small groups, gossiping about their favorite idols and teachers.
A few ran toward the basketball court, laughing loudly as they pushed each other playfully.
Lana watched with a pale face as the children were so happy and joyous and played around.
Just when she thought that the scene would continue to be harmonious, the next second, those children looked in Lana’s direction. In the blink of an eye, their colorful clothes transformed into bloodstained clothes.
A few children’s eyes hollowed out, and blood started to seep from their eyes. A few suddenly lost their hands or feet.
While some grinned, however, their teeth were missing.
Lana gulped and started to back out; her heart was trembling. Those children, as if sensing that Lana was going to retreat, fell silent.
One of the boys suddenly asked Lana, "Sister, why are you leaving? Stay with us. We are so lonely..."
"Sister... please, we beg you. Help us... We are in so much pain." A sobbing voice echoed in the air, making Lana’s heart tighten.
The raw pain and desperation in the child’s voice were enough to win anyone’s sympathy.
One of the girls used her chopped hand and did the action of covering her face. "Sis... my soul is burning with pain... they don’t let us off even after killing... they are tormenting our souls by letting us feel the pain we had suffered when we were in our mortal bodies!"
Suddenly, the girl’s chopped hand twitched and fell to the ground with a dull thud, yet she didn’t react. Her hollow eyes stared at Lana as if pleading for salvation that would never come.
Lana felt her scalp go numb.
Another child crawled forward, dragging half of his body along the cracked ground. His torso looked crushed, as if something heavy had flattened his chest.
"Sister..." he gasped out painfully. "Please... don’t go. They’ll come again. They always come... when we scream."
Mr. Crow’s voice shook violently. "L-Lana... don’t listen to them. Ghosts at this level can imitate emotions! Let’s leave!"
Lana tried to move away instinctively when her pupils dilated and she gritted her teeth, "Oh sh*t!"
"Stop cursing and run away!"
"As if I could! I am paralyzed!" Lana shouted
