Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 125: Apology
"Alright. The issuer is a government employee named Susie." The teacher in charge deliberately told about the issue.
The mission selected by Lana this time was unique. It was about an abandoned school. The mission issuer was government employees.
Lana knew how shameless the government or the city’s staff could be while issuing the tasks. They deliberately lower the rank of the task in order to save some money on rewards.
At the same time, they use their position to hide their black deeds. They make it seem as if they truly believe their own evaluations.
Though Shadowridge University sometimes declines these tasks, the problem was... they couldn’t repeatedly offend the government employees.
So the Shadowridge University came up with an effective method to suppress the rogues. Whenever any student applies to finish these government officials’ task, the teacher-in-charge reminds them of the possible misinformation and also explains how even if the students drop the task midway, they won’t be blamed.
Lana wouldn’t have bothered to even accept the mission after knowing the issuer; however, her heart was tempted by the possible gains.
She needed to gather herbs for her breakthrough and couldn’t continue to accept low-level missions offering no more than 20 to 30 credits.
God knows when she would have enough to buy the Yellow Rank breakthrough package by then.
When the teacher in charge saw that Lana wasn’t backing out, he sighed and handed her the bag required for the task.
Seeing how the bag was as big as a travel bag, Lana was stunned, but she still took it. Though curious about the content, Lana didn’t open it and left.
After returning to her classroom, Lana cultivated and got to know that their regular lectures will begin next week.
Knowing she only has a week left before she becomes busy with the schoolwork, Lana decided to finish as many tasks as she could. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Once the normal cultivation period was over, Betty, Layla, Fay, Wade, and Richard walked up to Lana and said collectively, "Sorry, Lana."
"Eh? Why are you all apologizing?" Genuinely puzzled, Lana asked in confusion, while Mr. Crow shook his head. Though Lana was a vengeful person, if she doesn’t count something as a grudge, it doesn’t even take 2 days for her to forget the matter.
"You asked us to help, and we weren’t available," Betty explained in a troubled voice.
Lana waved her hand nonchalantly and stated, "It’s alright. I understand that you all might have had your own troubles."
Betty and others heaved a sigh of relief and looked at her with gratitude. "Thank you for your understanding."
"I will leave first; I have a task to finish." Lana grinned and left.
Seeing her departing back, Betty sighed and murmured, "It’s better to be solo."
"Can’t agree more." Fay nodded with a hint of envy.
"Eh? So you are saying that you are ready to run around to gather herbs, earn credits, or earn money to buy the herbs from outside?" Wade arched a brow.
Betty and Fay both sighed heavily.
"If we have to... then yes," Betty mumbled.
"But it’s exhausting," Fay added. "The tasks are getting weirder and tougher. I don’t even know how Lana keeps doing them."
Richard pushed up his glasses. "She’s different. Her cultivation might still be low, but her combat intuition and luck are abnormal."
"Not to mention, it is easy to say that going solo won’t make much difference when in reality... it is hard to run around." Wade exposed them without mercy.
Fay glared at him. "Can’t you let us pretend for at least ten minutes?"
"No," Wade replied flatly. "Reality exists."
Layla chuckled softly. "Still, Lana makes it look so easy. She accepts missions like she’s picking snacks off a shelf."
Betty frowned. "Yeah, but that’s exactly why I’m worried. She’s pushing herself too much."
Meanwhile, Lana had already exited the classroom building, unaware of her friends’ concerns.
Mr. Crow perched on her shoulder and sighed dramatically. "You know, for someone who doesn’t even like risks, you sure take a lot of them."
"I like rewards," Lana corrected calmly.
"That’s what worries me," Mr. Crow muttered. "One day, you’ll see a reward sign and walk straight into a dragon’s nest."
Lana shrugged. "Then I’ll run out."
Mr. Crow stared at her. "That’s your survival plan?"
"Yup."
Mr. Crow: "..."
Lana laughed softly before explaining her thought process.
"Mr. Crow, I have analyzed before taking this quest. I can fight a ghost possessing 10 years of cultivation with no problem. And even if it is 12 years old... I still stand a chance with your assistance."
"Hm? And how are you going to deal with a 13- or 14-year-old?" Mr. Crow asked with an arched brow.
"Simple, by utilizing my current potential," Lana answered in a mysterious tone before smiling.
This time, Mr. Crow used his wing to slap her forehead and nagged,
"How many times do I have to remind you that it’s important for us to discuss a plan before taking action?"
Lana laughed before explaining, "I am planning to modify that mystic ball energy move. You see, it has a lot of flaws. It consumes too much time, effort, and mystic energy."
Mr. Crow frowned and reminded him in a concerned voice.
"It does, but if you are thinking of reducing its size, then give up. It will not be as effective as it was before in case you do reduce its size."
Lana shook her head and proposed her theory.
"Did you see the morphing ghost’s condition? It disintegrated into ashes. Logically speaking, it happens only when the soul of the ghost is disintegrated to the point that it won’t be able to reincarnate again."
Mr. Crow tilted his head. "So?"
"So," Lana continued, eyes bright with excitement, "I am going to test the shapes in which the mystic energy’s potential is maximized. Besides, I don’t want to completely annihilate the ghost. I want to make them immobile."
"And what if they do a sneak attack when they are ’immobile’?" Mr. Crow asked with a raised brow.
