Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 124: Quasi-Yellow Rank
Lucian simply replied calmly, "Itโs better not to rush to any conclusion." ๐ณ๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐จ๐๐๐น.๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ
Just then, the bathroom door opened and Lana stepped out. She looked at them with confusion and asked,
"What is going on?"
Seeing Lana unharmed, Naina let out a long sigh of relief and explained that she had thought something had happened to her.
Lana waved her hand and replied, "What could possibly happen to me? You two worry too much."
With that, she said that since her mission was over, she wanted to return to her room. Naina didnโt stop her; she understood Lana needed time alone.
Once Lana was back in her room, she collapsed onto her bed, clutching her chest. โI really had a close call with death today...โ
Soon, her eyes closed, and she fell asleep. When she opened them again, it was already afternoon.
Instead of going to university, she first had her breakfast, took a shower, and then worshipped Lord Nytheris before finally leaving for her university.
Lucian had already arranged a car for Lana, and Naina reluctantly looked at it. "Will you ever visit again?" Naina asked softly.
Lana was speechless and simply looked at her.
"Iโve already purified all the remaining bad luck in this house." She said. "My mission is over. You... donโt need to return."
Naina hesitated for a moment before taking out her phone.
"Is it alright if we keep in touch?" she asked. "Just in case I need your help again. Would you help me?"
Then she added, "Iโll pay you handsomely. Almost two million dollars every time you assist me."
Lanaโs eyes sparkled.
โTwo million dollars... every time? Thatโs insane.โ
After struggling internally for a long moment, she finally gave in and agreed.
Even though Naina was technically her love rival, this opportunity was far too good to miss. After all, who could resist that kind of money?
Once their contact information was exchanged, Lana returned to the university.
At the mission hall, she met the teacher in charge. The moment the teacher in charge saw her complete the mission, she immediately spoke,
"There was an issue with the missionโs detection. It wasnโt an E-Rank mission at all. The ghost that possessed the issuer was almost 12 years old. Professor Axel has already explained the situation. Under normal conditions, since another person interrupted your mission, tried to complete it on your behalf, and even took care of the mission issuer for two days, this would be counted as a violation."
She continued,
"However, the mission was misclassified from the start, and you were deceived. So you wonโt be fined. Instead, youโll be rewarded because you successfully handled a twelve-year-old ghost with the ability to deal with only ghosts with 8 years of cultivation. Youโll receive fifty credits."
Hearing this, Lanaโs eyes brightened.
"And going forward," the receptionist added, "two verification checks will be done to ensure you wonโt encounter this kind of mishap again."
Lana nodded, appreciating the sincerity.
โShadow Ridge University really knows how to handle its mistakes. They donโt hide them. They donโt pretend that nothing happened. They take responsibility. Many universities could never.โ
After receiving her reward, Lana calmly started scrolling through the missions again. Seeing her rush, Mr. Crow asked,
"Why are you in such a hurry to accept more cases? Shouldnโt you wait and cultivate?"
Lana shook her head.
"I realized the more cases I solve, the faster my cultivation grows," she said. "Earlier, I thought Iโd need at least another month to reach Yellow Rank, but because of the mystic energy ball invention and everything I learned, I finally reached it. Itโs a huge achievement."
Hearing this, Mr. Crow nodded. Lana wasnโt exaggerating. At her current pace, it wouldnโt be surprising if she reached Earth Rank sooner than most.
Lana sifted through various missions before finally choosing an E-Rank mission.
Besides the fifty credits, it also offered an herb she needed.
Even though she had broken through to Yellow Rank, she was only considered a pseudoโYellow Ranker since she hadnโt taken the necessary herbal bath or consumed the required materials.
When she first reached Yellow Rank, she had been thrilled and thought,
โMaybe Iโm some kind of special protagonist who doesnโt need resources.โ But Mr. Crow quickly corrected her misunderstanding.
"You may have reached Yellow Rank," he had told her, "but at most, youโre a quasiโYellow Ranker. To become a real one, you must undergo the herbal bath or consume the proper herbs."
Thus, her main task now was to gather the herbs required to become a complete Yellow Rank practitioner.
Honestly, Lana was already getting a headache. But as she browsed through the mission list, she finally found one offering one of the required herbs. She immediately accepted it.
Once she submitted her choice, the teacher-in-charge looked at it and pursed his lips.
"Thereโs something wrong with this mission," he warned her. "Even though itโs classified as an E-Rank mission, there have been complaints. It may not be E-Rank at all. Thereโs a high chance itโs actually a D-Rank... or worst case, a C-Rank mission."
Hearing this, Lana paused, hesitating for the first time. She wondered whether she should proceed.
She opened her mouth to respond, but before she could, the teacher-in-charge reminded her,
"You can always change your mind. You donโt have to complete the mission if its real rank is higher than it should be."
Lana tightened her grip on the mission slip, her hesitation lingering.
โTwo verification complaints... and still marked as E-Rank? That definitely sounds suspicious.โ
But then, the memory of the herb flashed in her mind.
โThis is one of the crucial ingredients for becoming a real Yellow Ranker. If I miss this chance, who knows when the next one will appear?โ
The teacher-in-charge raised a brow when he saw her still contemplating.
"You donโt have to force yourself," he reminded gently. "There will be other tasks."
Lana exhaled slowly. She lifted her chin.
"Iโll still try," she said finally. "If I find out itโs beyond what I can handle, Iโll withdraw."
The teacher studied her expression for several seconds before nodding.
