Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Fear

Lana was flustered when she heard Naina’s panicked voice and almost wanted to shout, ’I am fine; just don’t disturb me.’

However, she soon realized that Naina’s fear might have originated from the fact that the ghost was targeting her. Even though Lana knew that the ghost had been dealt with, from Naina’s perspective, the ghost hadn’t been exorcised.

In their world, the ghost may seem to have been reduced to ashes, but there are times when they somehow still make a comeback.

To call them terrifying ghosts would be an understatement.

In fact, even Lana had been scared when she first encountered those types of ghosts in her previous life, so it was natural for Naina to feel frightened now.

After all, from Naina’s perspective, that ghost might have harmed Lana; otherwise, why would Lana have suddenly vanished without a trace?

Lucian heard Naina’s panicked voice and couldn’t help but laugh inwardly.

’She always jumps to the worst conclusion.’

But on the surface, he kept his expression composed as he looked at the silver kitten and said that he needed to check what was happening with Lana. With that, he stood up.

The silver kitten immediately typed on the laptop screen, stating that Lana was fine.

Seeing this, Lucian asked her in a suspicious voice.

"How do you know Lana, and how do you even know that Lana was in good condition?"

The silver kitten typed back instantly, typing that she had divine powers and could tell that Lana was completely safe.

Lucian paused, then checked again, asking in a calm voice, "Oh? Then why don’t you tell me where she is now?"

The silver kitten hesitated briefly before typing that Lana was inside the mansion.

Seeing her response, Lucian looked at her and commented in his heart, judging from his experience, whenever Lana was in her silver-kitten form, she always told the truth.

Now that he thought about it, except for the one time when he asked what had happened and she had replied with "nothing," Lana had almost never lied to him. In fact, she had always been honest with him.

For a moment, he paused, then looked down at the silver kitten and said,

"Regardless, it is still my responsibility to take care of Lana."

With that, he started walking toward the door.

Lana immediately typed, asking Lucian to stop. However, this time, Lucian didn’t stop at all. Instead, he opened the door.

Lana felt her anxiety spike.

’Please, please, let me return to the bathroom... let me change back...’ She repeated the desperate chant in her heart five times, but there was no response.

It was only then that she realized that maybe her transformation had a time limit, one that she had unintentionally reached.

Panic seized her, and she jumped off Lucian’s bed.

Without a second thought, she dashed toward Lucian’s location, and the moment the door opened, she rushed to Naina and tapped Naina’s leg with her paws.

Naina, who was staring anxiously at Lucian, suddenly felt something furry brushing her foot.

She stumbled back in fear and even let out a small shriek. But when she looked down and saw the adorable little silver kitten, she froze as if someone had hit her pause button.

Naina bent down, a faint smile surfacing.

"Eh, where did this cute little kitten come from?"

For a brief moment, she forgot her worries, feeling unexpectedly drawn to the kitten.

Maybe it was the familiar aura surrounding the tiny creature, or maybe it was because the kitten looked so innocent and naive... just like Lana.

But the moment Lana crossed her mind, Naina’s anxiety returned. She looked at Lucian and said, "Let’s go; we need to find Lana!"

Lucian paused before nodding. "Let’s go." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

With that, both of them turned to leave. Lana hurriedly moved in front of them, trying to block their path.

However, her kitten’s body was far too small, and Naina simply assumed the little silver kitten was trying to get their attention.

Her heart softened, and she scooped Lana into her arms.

Seeing this, Lucian calmly picked the kitten from Naina’s embrace and placed her in his own hand.

Naina rolled her eyes and said she never thought Lucian would be so possessive, even over a kitten.

"Are you even possessive about a kitten?"

Lucian chuckled. "If you can be possessive over a person, why can’t I be possessive of this cat?"

Naina sighed and ignored his teasing. Soon, they arrived at the mansion, standing outside Naina’s room. Once inside, Naina motioned for Lucian to enter and check.

Seeing her actions, Lucian was about to walk in when he sensed Lana’s rising anxiety. The little things, the heart was beating loudly.

He paused at the bathroom door and asked Naina, "How did you conclude that Lana was missing?"

Naina explained in a low voice,

"I have been calling Lana for a long time, but aside from the crow... who, through his actions, kept insisting everything was fine and refused to let me enter... There had been no response. So I had assumed Lana wasn’t inside."

Hearing this, Lucian looked at her and said,

"There is a possibility she simply hadn’t heard you at all, or perhaps Lana had fainted. Jumping to the conclusion that Lana was missing was too hasty."

Naina realized her mistake and nodded.

"Even if it was the case, we still needed to check inside."

Lucian paused and suggested they wait ten minutes before taking any action.

Seeing him so calm and unhurried, Naina realized she truly was letting her anxiety take over. Most of her panic stemmed from her fear that Lana had been captured by that ghost.

Once the ten minutes were over, Lana suddenly felt a shift within her body.

Without hesitation, she thought of the bathroom.

The next second, she vanished into thin air. Lucian noticed it but didn’t comment.

Naina checked her watch and anxiously said,

"The ten minutes are over, and we should open the door."

Lucian remained composed and suggested they wait five more minutes.

Frustrated, Naina snapped, asking in a furious voice,

"Are you even planning to check on Lana at all?"
