Under the soothing light of the setting sun, Ruo'er gazed at the distant sky with a dazed look in her eyes. An old man stood a little distance away from her, looking at her as if waiting for her to say something.

"....I don't think I can stay with this man…"

Knowing his granddaughter well, the old man waited for her to continue. She didn't need much time to make this kind of decision after all.

She couldn't bear to see someone in her childhood friend's body. What's more, she wasn't sure when Noah might do something to provoke her and she would launch an attack at him.

Instead of staying in an environment like that, it was much better for her to go back to staying alone; otherwise, her cultivation might be affected.

"We should leave this empire as well. I think we should move to the empire you were talking about." Speaking her decision out loud, Ruo'er looked at her grandfather for his advice, but to her surprise, he did not show any signs of rejection.

She thought he might say that she was too weak to leave this place and he would not save her even if she were close to death. Which she knew was full of crap. She knew her grandfather was a Tsundere, someone who would act tough while not showing their real emotions.

(A/N: Ugghhh…. I made a Tsundere old man!!! Why did I do that?! Two things I dislike in this, one is Tsundere and the other is an old man being a Tsundere…)

"Since you have made the decision, I will talk to them when they come out. You should take a rest."

Hearing her grandfather's suggestion, Ruo'er got up and walked in the direction of her room.

Standing in his place, the old man stroked his beard, lost in his thoughts, but something caught his attention, causing him to snap his eyes in that direction.

"It's subtle but I can sense it… the laws are trembling as if someone is in the middle of a breakthrough… someone powerful." His hoarse voice echoed in the silent area. "Is it her? Or that boy!"

He could not stop to take a couple of wild guesses, sensing the change. For a second, he even thought that Noah was trying to break through, but then he shook his head; after all, the changes in the laws suggested that it was someone powerful, or they would not even shake with a moment of someone's breakthrough…

After Noah, there was only one more person present in the area according to him.

He still remembered the feeling of fear he got when Xin Yan stopped him from interrupting Noah.

This thought further strengthened his beliefs.

"Just how strong is she?? Even I cannot make something like this happen, and I am at the Soul Budding Realm…." His words drifted through the air with no one there to answer him.

"Well, well, well," a taunting voice sounded, its tone a twisted echo of a very familiar one. "Look who finally decided to show up!"

Xin Yan stood in a daze, face to face with a mirror image of herself. She knew very well that at this moment she was facing some of the deepest fears of her subconscious mind that had manifested in her own form. The very demon she had long sought to confront…

As Xin Yan gazed deep into the eyes of the demon, she noticed that despite being similar to her in looks, some things made the demon unique in itself.

The demon had blood-red pupils etched into black eyeballs. She could sense a sense of confidence and overbearing nature radiating from the demon in front of her as if the demon wanted to show its authority and suppress her.

Xin Yan clenched her fists, refusing to let this sham of a demon's words affect her resolve.

"I am here to face you once and for all." She declared, her voice steady and cold despite the tremble in her heart. "Let's get this over with. I do not want to waste any more time in this place."

As if seeing through what Xin Yan was trying to do, a feral grin appeared on the face of the demon.

"Oh, how brave of you~" it mocked, before bursting out in an eerie laughter. The hollow sounds of its voice sent shivers down Xin Yan's spine.

"But first, tell me this, little girl~ do you even know what is the reason that I came into existence?"

Hearing its question, a look of realization appeared on Xin Yan's face, the look that caused the grin on the demon's face to widen.

"Tell me~" The demon came closer and arrived beside Xin Yan before she could even react. It leaned closer and whispered in her ear. "What do you think is the reason I came into existence?"

She backed away and turned around before continuing. "Is it because of the death of our son?"

*Woosh!*

Hearing the demon's words, the first reaction Xin Yan had was to release her bloodlust into the air.

She looked at the demon with her own bloodshot red eyes and uttered, "he is my son. There is no 'our' here."

Her threats did not seem to have any effect on the demon as it looked back at Xin Yan's eyes calmly.

"Why not… you know that we are one. I am you and you are me~" it suggested before further adding. "You should know this very well, right? How the demons are formed."

While speaking, the demon floated around Xin Yan.

"Demons are the manifestation of obsession, regrets, or even someone's deepest desires." Xin Yan showed a skeptical expression but still replied. "Anything that hinders or distracts the mind of a person from their original goals can lead to a mental demon."

Xin Yan narrowed her eyes when she saw something; she saw the demon in front of her smiling. Unlike the previous malicious smile, this one was different.

Before she could probe any further, it disappeared as if it was never there in the first place.
