Galaxy Domination Guide-Chapter 768 - 754 Tianduo Star
Chapter 768: 754 Tianduo Star
Dealing with the second Swarm, in fact, the Universe Army wasn’t particularly useful. The Swarms of the past always had vast fleets, and the power of the fleet currently commanded by Zero wasn’t even the largest in history. Thus, the troops that truly faced life-and-death combat in this battle were those of the Unified Empire’s Star Battle Army.
Bai Zhongqi founded the Empire Army not only to deal with the second Swarm. Other natural disasters and civilizations also possessed fleets, and it was in those times that the Universe Army of the Empire could come into play.
The fleet dispatched to Tianduo Star by the Unified Empire wasn’t particularly large, compared to the previous times when Bai Zhongqi mobilized hundreds of thousands or even millions of warships, this time he led only a few hundred ships. Each vessel carried a large number of Star Battle troops, mainly including the Interstellar Marine Corps and the Orbital Airborne Corps.
Guarding this fleet were the thousands of Star Whales brought by Zero. The number of these escorting Enslaved Beasts was actually larger than that of the vessels. Considering the likelihood of more Swarm eggs and other variables at the Swarm’s current nest, Bai Zhongqi initially deployed those thousands of Star Whales to clear the travel lanes and battlefield of Swarm eggs.
The massive Star Whales opened their huge mouths and absorbed the Swarm eggs drifting in space, quickly clearing a path for the Unified Empire’s fleet to land. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
“Interstellar Marine Corps 1st Brigade, begin the landing operation!”
“Orbital Airborne Corps 1st Brigade, begin the landing operation!”
Just as the Star Alliance previously had Marine Corps and Orbital Paratroopers competing, the two offensive military types that Bai Zhongqi established in the Unified Empire Army also were very competitive. Even though these officers and soldiers all came from civilizations that joined the United Empire and were very different species-wise, once they entered a new collective and started carrying the honor of this collective, as well as the fate of their own civilizations and compatriots, they naturally developed a new sense of identity.
Such identity turned into the identification with the Interstellar Marine Corps, donning sea blue digital camouflage armor, or the Orbital Airborne Corps clad in night-like black paint.
Both Corps used different types of powered individual armor. The Marine Corps’ Battle Armor model was called “Serpentina,” a style developed for the Iridium Star Universe Army by the Iridium Star Military Technology Research Institute. However, the original was rejected by the Universe Army, who rarely engaged in extensive infantry combat, for seeming too cumbersome and featuring too many functions. After modifications, the Serpentina model powered individual armor was issued to the Marine Corps.
The Orbital Airborne Corps, on the other hand, continued with the latest model of Tiberius Heavy Armor, which, instead of pursuing firepower and multifunctionality like the Serpentina, still emphasized mobility, flight and defense, providing the safest and most stable experience for paratroopers undertaking orbital drops or other extreme landing environments.
Both types of Battle Armor had been upgraded with defense modules against Swarm eggs, but the resistance to the number of Swarm eggs was finite, thus the soldiers from both Corps had to deploy Star Whales on the battlefield for “vacuuming” during combat.
Bai Zhongqi himself also personally led a mobile infantry battalion to land on Tianduo Star. His battalion mainly consisted of the Bionic Warriors with high-tactical versions, the most elite of the Silver Feather Army’s Silver Armored Guards, and the Stellar Transmission Academy’s Star Warriors. In fact, he had considered letting the Valkyries take the field, but felt that the Valkyries, whether in terms of combat performance or spectacle, were too striking and somewhat overshadowed the presence of the Unified Empire’s Army.
Bai Zhongqi’s Blade Empress flagship hovered above Tianduo Star’s surface. Beams of light shot down from the ship’s body, and Bai Zhongqi, along with hundreds of his guards, arrived on the planet’s soil.
It was exceedingly rare, but Bai Zhongqi himself had donned the long-unused Powered Individual Armor and joined the soldiers in combat.
No sooner had Bai Zhongqi’s mechanized infantry battalion been teleported to the city on the ground, the insectoids in the city immediately became restless. Bai Zhongqi witnessed these calamitous creatures, which bore certain human features but were extremely terrifying.
The most typical insectoids were about as tall as members of the Primate Clan, with bodies that were actually somewhat slim and elongated. They had distinct exoskeletons, insect-like compound eyes, antennae, and mouthparts. However, they were all wielding weapons made by the Lianxi people, shooting at the approaching forces of the Unified Empire.
Bai Zhongqi, addressing Zero beside him who wasn’t wearing any armor, said, “These insectoids can use weapons, but why didn’t they use the planetary surface defense systems when our fleet arrived?”
Zero shook his head, “I’m not sure either, maybe they haven’t learned how to use them yet?”
The insectoids issued shrill and alarming cries, fearlessly opening fire on the Unified Empire’s forces. However, even the soldiers of the newly-formed military units of the Unified Empire had very good tactical combat abilities. The mechanized infantry received support from warships, aircraft, and various support platforms for firepower, and a large number of insectoids were turned into ashes by the small fire drones flying all over the sky and the cannon fire from the warships, before they could even attempt to attack.
It was only in the crossfire among buildings and behind other forms of cover that the mechanized infantry fired their weapons to kill the insectoids.
Before long, Bai Zhongqi came across some advanced and heavily mutated, powerful insectoids.
An insectoid, at least three meters tall with over a dozen tentacles resembling electric cables, yet still in the semblance of an insectoid, burst out from underground. This one’s concealment was highly successful; a group of Unified Empire soldiers didn’t notice it. Its tentacles suddenly made contact with several soldiers, emitting a high voltage like electric cables, powerful enough to burn out the components of their Individual Armor, resulting in casualties.
The other soldiers of the Unified Empire immediately noticed this distinctly different insectoid and concentrated their firepower in its direction. The tentacle-wielding insectoid, highly alert, tried to burrow back underground after its strike, but Bai Zhongqi’s troops had swiftly arrived on the scene.
A Star Warrior suddenly took action, clutching a bulky firearm and shooting at the ground, which instantly hardened. Such was the degree of hardness that it prevented the cable-tentacle insectoid from burrowing in.
Without cover, the other soldiers of the Unified Empire opened fire towards this area, and in a flurry of electromagnetic bullets and light beams, the insectoid was killed.
Throughout the city, various similar scenes were unfolding everywhere. The numbers of the insectoids were simply too vast. Although Bai Zhongqi’s Unified Empire forces were formidable, it was only when they actually faced the insectoids that they realized just how troublesome it would be to eradicate such a myriad of them.
